The scene makes entirely no sense and, in my opinion, was a good omission from SW in the first place. Tail-stepping SE stuff aside, Solo doesn't demonstrate enough reasoning to have talked himself out of being fired immediately by Jabba OR Fett or any of the other folks standing around. Hell, a real-life loan shark would have impounded the ship or taken Chewie as collateral or *something*.

But like you said DS, we all have different views and opinions. No one moreso than George Lucas... lol.

LOL... nowadays, me too!

I'm a hot sauce junkie myself (in keeping with the above, by coincidence). Being a 'chili-head' I not only have about 20 bottles of various hot sauces in the kitchten at any given time but I put it on or incorporate it in most everything I eat or cook.

Also my family owned a bakery while I was growing up- the classic homemade type of bakery- and the one thing that I always love to eat (except when on a stupid diet like I am now) is fresh homemade bread. MMmmmmm bread. Barely matters which kind. I love to smell it baking and eat it while its still warm out of the oven....

All this time, I've been a regular Casanova and not taking advantage of the opportunities laid out before me. Sheesh!

You can have your lust and eat it too, or something like that!

Geez Bossk... If I had known you back in the day I would have hooked you up! The trick- always hang around someone geekier than you... that way you seem tame by comparison!

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE GEEKIEST THINGS YOU'VE DONE PUBLICALLY?
(costumes, buying weird stuff, whatever...)

I'll get the ball rolling- I wasn't in costume (unless you consider a tux a costume) but two years ago when I got married the groom's side of the wedding party walked in to the theme music from the original 'Battlestar Galactica'. When the ceremony was complete, I kissed my bride and we walked out to the 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' theme! And the funny thing only a few people really picked up on it.

Heh. I find it much easier to believe he was SUPPOSED to be that old, considering his age when unmasked at the end of ROTJ. Even if GL stuck with the 'force ghost from the time you were last a Jedi' or whatever justification was, that would put him about Shaw's age.

ROTS Review by Kevin Smith... EXTREME SPOILERS!
Time
I don't think we can simplify these emotions too much. Dislike, disappointment, hate, love, like, etc tend to be used and over-used and if none of us gave a rat's ass about Star Wars we wouldn't be here- we're here because we love SOME aspect of it. But each of us different tastes and experiences... which is what makes the forum so cool. And if we get frustrated by other people's opinions then we're taking all this much MUCH too seriously. And that isn't pointed at anyone in particular- that goes for all I think

But.... For one, people just like to bitch about stuff- especially stuff that they can't usually bitch about at work or sometimes even at home. Also I would tend to generaliz that most SE 'haters' are pre-disposed to dislike the PT for way too many reasons to get in to. The SE are WRONG on several levels, IMHO, not the least of which just basic film preservation. That said, reaction to the PT (or what we've seen so far of it) seems to either be resignation or disappointment. We can't control what Lucas creates (though some of us try real hard! ) but we can compare our experience with the OT with what we see now in the PT. Had I never seen the OT in their original forms in the theater, my reactions would be very different. But geez- before we had a VCR and long before DVD or anything of the sort, I saw that blasted first movie 27 times in the theater!!! 27!!! I couldn't *dream* of seeing a movie that many time in theaters these days- I'd go broke! Many films these days don't even rate a second watch. And the ones I think do I cling to (or at least buy the DVD). If I tried, I could find some good in almost every movie I've seen (almost). But TPM...? It was hard for me too find much, other the light saber duel. But mainly I felt a sense of disappoinment after waiting all those years and getting THAT movie. Of course, the SE warned me that something was up.

So anyway I do tend to think that for many reasons Kevin Smith, like him or not (and I do) is not the most nonpartial critic to write a review of Star Wars stuff.

Hey, I've been saying, since it was announced, that the name "The Phantom Menace" does sound like a Scooby Doo movie. Maybe we've finally stumbled across Lucas' master plan.

ROFLOL! Too true!!!

I can see it all now! Padme repeatedly saying 'Jinkies!'

Scooby as Anakin of course. And here are some snippets of his dialogue"

"Ree Ri-Ron, rawr roo a Redi Right???"

"Robi-Ron ron't ret re roo rannything!"

And who could forget THIS great new scene:

Padme: "Anakin... I think I found a clue!"
Anakin: ......
Anakin: "Radray.... Ri RUV roo"
Padme: "What?? .. (quietly) jinkies"
Anakin: "Ri row rits rorridden rut ri ron't rare!"
Padme: "Just answer me one question- why is our love like sand?"
Anakin: (excited) "Ruff! Ruff!"
Padme: and?
Anakin: "rearirating!!!!!"
Padme: "exactly"

Being a long-time multi-genre loving self proclaimed geek myself, I often call people out on many different aspects of fandom. What do I mean? Well, other than "in-fighting" (IE: SW vs ST) among geeks, who is it that general gives us the snickers, etc? The so-called 'normal'people? Mainly, yes. But compare the number of SW fans, ST fans, Dungeons & Dragons fans, comic book fans, video game fans to... football fans? baseball fans?

Just TRY and tell me football (the American variety but it applies to football abroad as well) fans do not meet the criteria that are lumped upon us that define us as geeks! Look at the merchadise, the costumes they wear at games, the fierce devotion!

I'm not saying they're mutually exclusive either. SW fans can love football too, just as some Trek fans love Stargate or SW or baseball or Sailor Moon or Rob Zombie or... well, you get the idea.

We're just one big happy geek family and we shouldn't pick on each other! C'mon- group hug!!

(eewwwwwww... lol)

But back to topic.....
