Plus, there might have been widespread misunderstandings if Palps had ordered the Clones to initiate "Order 69".

As for the number, maybe it really was at random. If it's one thing being an Evangelion fan has thaught me, it's that sometime we fans put far more meaning into something that was originally meaningless. Still, I suppose it could be possible, but I somehow doubt he meant for use to ponder the significance of the number.

Maybe GL was just invoking symbolism for the sake of sounding cool, sorta like Mace Windu in 'Pulp Fiction':

Quote

Jules: I been sayin’ that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a coldblooded thing to say to a motherfucker ‘fore you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin’ made me think twice. Now I’m thinkin’, it could mean you’re the evil man. And I’m the righteous man. And Mr .45 here he’s the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness. Or it could be you’re the righteous man and I’m the shepherd and it’s the world that’s evil and selfish. I’d like that. But that shit ain’t the truth. The truth is you’re weak. And I’m the tyranny of evil men. But I’m tryin’. I’m tryin’ real hard to be a shepherd.”

Actually really interesting and significant Lucas uses that particular number. 7 is the perfect number in the Bible. 6 is the Devil's number, falling short of 7, the ideal. And 666 is also a really bad number, being comprised entirely of 6's.

So there's some subtle symbolism here; Lucas didn't use "66" by coincidence. Any thoughts on this in general?

Then again, new studies show that that 'number of the beast' might not have really been 666:

"Beast's real mark devalued to 616"

Maybe GL will change it in the ROTS SE

His talent is definitely not in question. He's got it in spades. But can we, the public, break our typecast image of him as Frasier Crane? 20+ years of playing the same character can do that to a person's career.

I enjoyed his work on Fraiser, but *I* more fondly remember him as Lt. Cmdr. Tom Dodge in the movie 'Down Periscope'. Hill-air-ee-ous, IMHO!

And yes, I think he'll be a fine Beast, as anyone familiar with the comic would know that many of Grammer's characters are similar to the 'ever-lovin' Beast.

No im pretty sure that Darth Plagueous was Palpatines master. But the real question is did Palpatine (or possilbe Plagueous) create Anakin from the Midichlorians seeing as in Episode I it is said he was 'born from the midichlorians themselves' or some such bs like that. and that he 'has no father'. So basically what are peoples thoughts on this, did Palps manipulate the midichlorians to 'father' Anakin or was this done by his master before hand. or am i just reading too much into the comment.

Whether I like it or not (which I don't) I took that to be what he was getting at exactly, Simon. They (Plag/Sid) created Anakin, Sid killed Plag, Sid hired Maul, Obi killed Maul, Sid hired Dook, Midi-boy killed Dook, Sid hired Midi-Boy (making him his surrogate brother of sorts with Plag as their 'daddy'???), Midi-Boy killed Sid thus killing himself, Midi-boy reverts to Midi-Jedi and Joanie loves Chachi... oh wait... Fonz jumped over the shark in AOTC, right... I get soooooo confused.

Yeah, I like that. I really hope it's on the deleted scenes of the DVDs (assuming it was actually filmed) so that I can actually see it play out.

-Edit-
Oh yeah, there's still one problem. If Anakin never learned how to become one with the force and all that, why does he show up as a Force Ghost at the end of Jedi? That still doesn't make sense to me...

This thread http://www.originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=2&threadid=2267 might help to explain...

The Liam Neeson Mystery (spoilers within but questions answered)
Time
OK, where was Qui-Gon and what the heck what Yoda going on about? Let me take you, if I may, to the official illustrated ROTS screenplay... in which we discover that mysteries of the Force abound and that Yoda can become a dead Jedi's bitch...

The plus:

A real bonafide mention of the WHILLS!!!! WHOOO-HOOOO!!!!!

The minus:

"Your bitch I now become, yes. Even though brought the little pecker who kicked our asses and the Gungan that basically created the Empire, you did."

To my knowledge this scene was filmed (per interviews with Neeson) and whill (get it?... har har) probably show up on the DVD.

Curse YOU Bossk!!! You are now like sand to me... rough and irritating. If only I had my wife here to comfort me, to hold me like she did by the lake on Naboo, so long ago when there was nothing but our love.

lol

PS: If Dooku went to Naboo would he step in poodoo?

Anyone have any suggestions as to what's the best version for me? I suppose what I'm looking for is a less cheesy, more watchable version of TPM and AOTC but retaining the main storyline.

Buy the novels and stare at them from afar?

(just kidding- follow Rik's sagely advice on this one)

Maybe it was just to keep from stirring up the pot since they were already in the outer rim.

That's just a stretch rationalization, but it came to me.

LOL. Maybe they just gave him an unlisted comlink number!

"Curses!!! I'll *never* find my son unless these Republic Bell telephone books are updated!!"

And of course Anakin would *never* be able to sense his son's presence all the way from Coruscant- why if he could then he would have been able to sense his... mother.... oh... nevermind.

Well... uh.... no- not at all.

Yes one *can* nitpick any movie, but a GOOD movie (whatever type appeals to you as an individual) will sweep you away from your current reality and get you so caught up in its story that for a short period of time you are a *part* of the story.

In fact, my personal 'first indicator' of whether a film is good or not is whether at any time I find myself glancing at my watch. If I do look at it, I know the filmmakers have not done their jobs well- they lost me and kicked me out of the story. I suppose my second indicator of quality is whether or not I would want to watch the film again anytime soon. Some movies I walk out of the theater thinking 'man, I'm going to buy *that* dvd' or whatever, and some I leave, shrug my shoulders and have forgotten it within a few minutes. These are not 'SW' criteria- they go for any film, any genre.

So no, I don't feel ALL movies are disappointing- if they were, why would we watch them?

IMPORTANT- Get the word out about the OT on NPR on 5/19/05
Time
I've emailed the show and briefly mentioned the plight of the OT, as well as giving props to OT.Com.

Anyone else done this yet? Call them, email them... let the NPR listeners know what's going on.

BTW, in my market the show has just begun and the SW segment should begin within the hour. Their guests will be:

Quote

Nicholas Johnson, Star Wars fan; waited in line for more than 30 days to see Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

Amy Sturgis, professor of interdisciplinary studies at the Belmont University; writes about the Star Wars phenomenon; teaches a course on Lord of the Rings

John Hudgens, amateur Star Wars film maker

You know, I just re-re-re-re-re-(etc)-watched the OT again over the past few days, and I never really noticed before today that near the end of ROTJ, when Leia gets shot in the shoulder, Han gets a big ole boob grope in! He helps Leia sit down, and then cups her boob and then moves on... way to take advantage of an opportunity you scoundrel!

IMPORTANT- Get the word out about the OT on NPR on 5/19/05
Time
Tomorrow on NPR's afternoon show 'Talk of the Nation' they'll be talking about Star Wars and what fans will be doing after 'its over'. This could be a great chance to get some exposure for this website. I'm not sure who their guests are but quite often they'll get a 'fan spokesperson' type of guest. I'm not sure who speaks for the OT.Com exactly, but please get the word around.

Also anyone who wants to call or email the show, you can do so at totn@npr.org or by phone:

"You can participate by calling (800) 989-8255. A few tips:

· If you're in a car and you want to call in, pulling over will allow a connection that's likely to be of higher audio quality.

· Be prepared to turn off your radio as soon as the screener answers the phone.

· Tell us a story. The best callers are people who speak from experience; the worst callers are those who just want to express an opinion."
