As the Troopers start getting the Go on "Order 66", A signel is sent from Deep Space when IG-88 gets the Code and it makes him "Lose it" thinking everyone he sees is a "Jedi".

With 100 episodes of a TV series to fill, you just may get to see IG-88. Who knows? It could be cool to have the newly formed Empire hire bounty hunters to help them track down the few remaining Jedi. There would be less overhead in that when one is trying to close one's grip on a new government.

I have to agree with you here, HotRod! That scene practically made me sit up and take notice in the theatre- it shows, either on purpose or by accident, that George Lucas may still have the heart of a filmmaker beating in his chest.

That is what is called 'inner dialogue'- unlike 99.9% of the PT films we the audience are not stupid and don't need every freaking emotion uttered out loud. That one scene did more to communicate the inner turmoil both characters felt and the feelings that they had for each other than, IMHO, ANYTHING else in the trilogy.

Luke's ROTS Review (plot holes included)

Based on extensive notes from a previously unknown draft of 'Star Wars', I believe that by 'tremor' GL meant to imply that Darth had indigestion. He often used to eat Obi-Wan's cooking and had the same feeling- so therefore the reference originally WAS about Obi-Wan.

The 'circle' he refers to being 'complete' was actually an Imperial version of Alka-Seltzer.

On a side note, continuing GL's wonderful Jedi naming trend, he re-used that idea and if you read the credits of AOTC there is a Jedi named Salka-Eltzer.

Thought on de-SE'ing the DVD
Time
Actually 'Boga' was the NAME of Obi-Wan's steed in ROTS.

From the ROTS script (a deleted scene of course):

109 INT. UTAPAU-CITY-DRAGON CORRAL-DAY

OBI-WAN makes his way through the city, looking up at the tenth level with electro-binoculars from his utility belt. He tries to figure out how he is going to get up there. He hears strange bellowing cries and he investigates.
He comes across a corral filled with about half a dozen DRAGON-LIKE LIZARDS. SEVERAL WRANGLERS are standing around.
OBI-WAN walks up to the WRANGLERS and uses the Force with his slight hand movements.

OBI-WAN: I need transportation.

WRANGLER: (subtitled, in native tongue) You need transportation.

OBI-WAN: Get it for me.

WRANGLER: (subtitled, in native tongue) I will get it for you.

One of the WRANGLERS turns to the others and chatters away in his strange tongue. OBI-WAN walks along the line of DRAGON/LIZARDS, checking out each one. He looks at their teeth, legs, etc. Finally he pats one on the neck.

OBI-WAN: This one.

The WRANGLER brings the chosen one over to him.

WRANGLER: Boga. She answers to Boga.

OBI-WAN: Good girl, Boga.

OBI-WAN swings onto the back of the LIZARD. The beast rears up and scurries outside to the edge of the sinkhole.

I would also be curious if anyone has any idea on how to reconcile the Empire dialogue where Obi-Wan says, "That boy is our last hope." and Yoda says, "No, there is another." It certainly doesn't make sense if Obi-Wan was present at the birth. I suppose the easiest solution is to remove this exchange from Empire, but I always liked that final line from Yoda.

What's to say that Yoda is even referring to Leia? In the end it turns out to be Anakin as the last hope. Leia didn't do anything spectacular in Return of the Jedi.

Even if you were to interpret his line as meaning Leia, I don't think Obi-Wan felt her all that capable, nor the force as strong in her.

In fact, IF you accept that GL had the 'twins' thing planned all along, Obi-Wan *again* seems like a manipulative prick because he knew who Leia was when he saw the original hologram projection of R2, not to mention when the group ended up on the Death Star and went to rescue her. Not that Ewan did a bad job in his acting, but BEFORE the PT I actually liked and respected Ben- the PT make the Ben of the OT (and Yoda) look like asses instead of mentors.

Yep, there were some good little moments which showed Anakin to be be increasingly jealous of her. There's also an exchange in which Palps 'suggests' to Anakin that Obi-Wan is having an affair with a member of the Senate and insinuates that it is Padme, of course knowing full well that Anakin is married to her. Considering some of GL's dialogue, there was some surprisingly subtle stuff in there.

Then again, we all know his theme for the PT was that love leads to the dark side.

Geez, I'm getting the script mixed up with the actual film! LOL. The timeframe of the film bothered me, so I rewatched the film and then re-read the script looking for clues. Anakin DOES say "it seems like a lifetime" but as the scene continues Padme was *supposed* to say the following:

Quote

ANAKIN: I've given my life to the Jedi order, but I'd only give up my life, for you.

PADME: (playfully) I wouldn't like that. I wouldn't like that one bit. Patience, my handsome Jedi . . . Come to me later.

ANAKIN embraces her, then looks at her.

ANAKIN: Are you all right? You're trembling. What's going on?

PADME: I'm just excited to see you.

ANAKIN: That's not it. I sense more . . . what is it?

PADME: Nothing . . . nothing . . .

ANAKIN: You're frightened. (a little angry) Tell me what's going on!

PADME begins to cry.

PADME: You've been gone five months . . . it's been very hard for me. I've never felt so alone. There's . . .

ANAKIN: . . . Is there someone else?

Which of course is part of the whole 'Anakin thinks she's been unfaithful' subplot which got axed... though I wish they would have left it in- I think it would have helped.

The rest of the movie seriously takes place over a few days so she must be damn near due to give birth. It also strikes me funny that no one else seemed to notice she was preggers- even Obi-Wan until almost the last minute... must have been that Nabooian maternity wear!

OR the fact that the twins looked to be about 2 months old AND the fact that Padme looked about 4 months pregnant through most of the film.

[edit]WAITAMINUTE!!! Padme and Anakin never did SAY they did the Jedi-nasty. All she said was that she hadn't seen him in 5 months when he got back from rescuing Palps. So... maybe... all those clues add up to...

THE TWINS WERE CREATED FROM MIDI-CHLORIANS!!!! Maybe Palps, while the Jedi were out, used Sith-mojo and midi-knocked-up Padme!! That's it!!!!!!!!

Yeah, you HAVE to have a sense of humor about these things! That led me to post the following in another thread here:

Quote

I think we need a 'SCREAMING' thread, where people who either loathe or love ROTS can go in, get all the @*&$@#!&*^!@#^@# type of reactions out of thier systems, THEN come back and start threads with legit view and reviews. I understand the burst of conflicting emotions that one can have after seeing this film and it doesn't help to flame folks for posting those emotions- we just need a place for it so there aren't 50 million new threads saying (or not saying) the same thing.

I mean, that kind of stuff... uh... sucks ass!

Read above- I gave up that particular hypothesis when I started seeing the results come in.

Your dislike stems from a techincal understanding of cinematography....not everyone is going to have that knowledge...

True and you're right... to a degree. Our culture cares less and less about quality and more and more about 'flash' and quantity. What I fear is that people will systematically learn to think that is all they deserve. Like fast food versus good home-cooked meals, or simple video games (IE: Tetris) versus whatever glitzy super hi-rez game du jour comes along, etc: we as a culture get watered down substance because we buy it up... and then immediately go looking for the next fix. There doesn't tend to be much that comes out that has lasting impact these days. And as consumers, our hunger and lust for more of the same but only 'better' and 'bigger' and 'faster' kills off any desire on the part of truly talented creators (IE: GL) to give us any more than they think we're asking for... any more than we pay for... and maybe, just maybe, no more than we deserve. 'Star Wars' may just as well be 'Starbucks' these days- its everywhere and its little more than a logo on a Happy Meal box or a way to sell Cheetos. So I guess why should GL give a damn? Who knows?

Quote

so again I say it comes down to you not getting the movie you wanted to see....

from a certain point of view

Nice tagline but no- it come down to not getting the movie I know that GL would once have been able to make. To not getting a film that, with any number of capable directors, writers and actors should have been wonderful. I want to see good cinema- I see ads for action figures and cell phones.

You really want to see missed potential? Get me started on the two 'Matrix' sequels! Sheesh!

I've realized that this films, I think more than the other PT films, will be the 'love it or hate it' film of the SW Saga. I accept that readily, but I have noticed that many other folks here are ready to pounce on people who have strong feelings one way or another.

And I really, truly wanted to like this film. I had already made my peace with the storyline of the PT so went into this with an open mind. Maybe I was overly 'spoiled' on plot points so I looked too hard at the technical points... *shakes head*....

I am 20. I was a Star Wars nerd as a kid, and still a huge fan. I went into this movie TRYING MY HARDEST to like it, and I still thought it was a complete waste of time. The only scene I liked was the "YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!!!" scene...

Actually that throws out my theory really, which I'm glad of- I hate simplistic explanations like that.

Quote

Um Im 31 & thoroughly enjoyed the movie, as did all my friends (aged between 18 & 72) so I would argue that it's not a question of age but obvoiusly a sense of bitter disappointment....you didn't get to see the movie you wanted to see so obviously it sucks ass.....it's ok thats your opinion....just not one Im going to agree with or share

Uh, die-jarjar-die... if you were talking about MY opinion, then I didn't say "sucks ass" and, nothing personal, don't appreciate the generalization that I (or anyone for that matter) disliked the film because we "didn't get to see the movie you wanted to see so obviously it sucks ass".

I dislike the film (specifically ROTS I'm talking about now and not the other PT films) because- as someone who has watched 100s of different films, from experimental shorts to epic blockbusters, and has studied in depth the techniques of filmmaking- it is an extremely POORLY CRAFTED FILM, whether its 'Star Wars' or not... and trust me- I love some stupid movies that everyone else hates but at least they're well made. ROTS is poorly written, 80% poorly acted and terribly poorly written. I always watch films with both an eye for 'pure enjoyment' and with a 'technical craftsmanship' eye- and ROTS blinded the latter.

This is BY FAR the worst Star Wars movie ever made, and is much better at completly ruining all the classic characters than the first two movies were. To rank this movie higher than the original movies is so ridiculous I can't even understand it. The only way I can still even be a Star Wars fan is by pretending that these new movies simply did not happen, because it has all been ruined. Even Yoda, even the Emperor, and even Darth Vader. Absolutely awful, the least enjoyable movie I have seen in my life... There are a lot of really bad movies like this one out there, but none have ever tried to suck so much good out of this world. DON'T WATCH IT!!! YOU ARE NOT MISSING A DAMN THING!!!

I don't disagree with you jeffreyschmid but I am curious- how old are you? I really think age has an effect on whether one likes this movie or not. I'm 33 and thought it was a very, very poorly made film.
