What in SW DOES make sense????
Time
We've had tons of threads focusing on nitpicking all the thousands of things that DON'T jive between the OT, OOT, PT, comics, books, cartoons, cereal boxes etc... but can anyone think of something that you feel worked ALL THE WAY through the series? Something not just that you think was 'cool' but something that someone else can't really argue your point on?

Harder than you might think, it is...

Does Tarkin know that the Emperor is a Sithlord?
Time
Actually, given the old tech/new tech oddness of the SW films, one could assume that there is little or no 'mass media' in the SW universe. We might know everything anyone can dig up on our Emperor...uh, I mean President... .... but in the SW world it might not be that easy to know much about your leaders. Therefore much like, say, the Roman Empire of our own history a person living and working in Roman occupied England might know nothing at all about the Roman Emperor.

As for Motti- hell I've worked for huge corporations and you don't 'fear' the CEO unless you work directly under them. You 'fear' your own managers etc. And as long as the Death Star ran properly and met it's 'Death quota' the Emperor would have no reason to go there... hence in ROTJ the shock of "The Emperor..coming HERE?!?!?!"

Great film! Its actually called 'This Island Earth' and I think had a limited DVD run with a cruddy old transfer. Don't have it but you may be able to track one down online or possibly request it at a.b.dvd.midnightmovies (if you do the newsgroup thing)

I'm with Simon-

"General Tarkin... did you KNOW you're working for a SITH LORD??!?!"
"Your point?"
"But a Sith Lord!!! That's like working for the anti-christ or something!!!"
"Your point?"
"but... but... but..."
"Its no different from any other government job. As long as I get paid well who cares? Plus, I get to blow up planets- is that sweet or what?!?"

Uh...yeah. 'FIGS' hunh? I think there may be a vowel problem there but that's another story. (rolls eyes)

On a happier note, did anyone else catch that the REAL Boba Fett, actor Jeremy Bulloch, had a cameo in ROTS as 'Captain Colton' on Bail Organa's Blockade Runner? Cool!!!

For Dukes of Hazzard/Jessica Simpson Fans

I'm not a huge fan but I will say that she comes off as someone who knows her mental limits and is not afraid to play on them to poke fun at herself. And a good sense of humor is something that I find appealing in anyone. Plus she's not afraid to do those 'I had zits' infomercials... lol.

On the other hand, at least she's not an idiotic, sadistic, stuck up slut-bag like Paris Hilton!

Episode 3: Fan Editing Ideas Discussion
Time
Or we could just look at it like this:

The OT is one pretty complete work comprised of three films which- taken as a whole- work well as a story.

The PT is another set of three films which- viewed by themselves- kinda almost make sense and work as their own story.

Some of the names happen to be the same, some of the music happens to be the same and even some of the production staff happens to be the same. There the similarities end. Kinda like comic books- a Spider-Man comic written and illustrated in the 1960s looks and reads very differently from one created last year. Some people like the old ones, some like the new ones and some like both. Yet the creators don't feel a *huge* pressing desire to make continuity water-tight... as long as they sell comics! The two generations never really have to meet.

And as far as Star Wars is concerned to my mind they don't, but that's another story.

Make mine OT!

Nah! We all KNOW that MagnoliaFan is really Jason Mewes!!!

In fact, to improve ROTS, Mewes.. I mean MagnoliaFan.. will be bumping up Hayden's dialogue with some clever re-recording. Now when Vader rises off the table, instead of asking about Padme and yelling 'Noooooooooo' he'll say the following:
"Get off of me, I wanna see what's going on! What the f**k is this sh*t? Who the f**k are you, lady? Why the f**k did you hug my head? What is this sh*t, `The Piano?' Why ain't this broad talking? What the f**k does that mean? Has everyone gone f**king nuts? What the f**k happened to that guy's head?!?!?

Yes, that one bugged the crap out of me too, until upon re-watching I realized there were force-fields of some sort under the floaty panle and under the droid thingie- the same force-fields that Obi and Annie disrupted while battling up on the platforms which let the lava in. Doesn't mean I liked the scene any better though. Even with shielding they should both have had the hair being burnt off of them. I've been within five feet of molten lava in Hawaii... and that stuff is hot hot hot!

I agree with your other points as well.

6 DVD Box Set for this November
Time
Most likely this is just a Fox Home Video repack of the existing (and soon to exist re:EpIII) DVDs. This happens all the time as sequels in franchises come out. Heck, look at what Paramount did with the Star Trek films- the first DVD versions all came out in a box set, then as each 2-disc director's edition came out sequentially they just repacked the box sets over and over again as 'new' sets. Or the Blade trilogy... there was a 2-disc box, then when part 3 came out the studio repacked into a 3-disc box, etc etc etc. The LOTR releases were the same way.

It doesn't take much money for a studio to create a cardboard box and pack in some existing dvd releases.

Surround Sound Setup Help

Okay guys, this from someone who knows nothing about surround sound setup. I have a Sony STRDE485 Receiver and have my five speakers hooked up. For several years, while living in an apartment, I had only three of them hooked up because we could never properly mount the rear speakers. Now that we have our own place, we want them hooked up and I have them all plugged in and all that jazz. However, I am getting no sound whatsoever from either of the rear speakers. What can be done? I've read the instructions and wiped the receiver's memory in hopes of that working, but it doesn't. Every time I try to set the speakers in terms of distance/height/size settings, the receiver display keeps telling me that the rear channel is "not used." Help.

I hate stereos.

What sound source and cable hook-up are you using? (ie DVD, optical cable, radio on receiver, etc, etc) Perhaps your source is only two-channel stereo?
