Lucasfilm lunch hour
Time
Ripplin, are you talking to me? Expressing our concern to the media will not work because 95% of all mainstream media is under the slavery of right-wing corporate synergy, and they sure love profits! Bootlegs cannot fill this void because even the Dr.Gonzo set has missing footage! Nothing can stop Lucas from destroying the originals now, because "free-market economics" will eventually villify him, when the true reality is that the motherf****r is so stubborn to refuse to even doing a 5min anamorphic transfer, which the entire DVD industry uses now and would be essential as writing essays in college.

Don't worry, Im just venting some anger. At least I have the originals on VHS which I bought in 1997...

Time to accept what we are given and be grateful?
Time
Grateful we are not. Accept this I cannot.

If this is going to be the final, absolute release of the OOT, the the anamorphic v. Letterbox issue is out the window, and I'll sell everything I have on DVD concerning SW so I don't have to really pay a cent for bad tranfers. (I don't have any bootlegs) But in reality, I'm avoiding this like the plauge.

I just compared my 'Hoosiers' Anamorphic & Non-Anamorphic DVD's

you're right. letterbox isn't too bad, but that is not the intention for the dvd format. What I am really protesting is that Lucas is attempting to destroy the originals by presenting them in an obsolete format in order to lean favor for his mutilated vison. Personally, I draw the line between liking and hating the SE's with Jedi Rocks. It sounds like Tina Turner on crystalmeth.

The Official Lucasfilm Response
Time
You know what, 5 years in prison and that 250,000 dollar fines are looking better and better...
I don't want to cave in to buy the cheapest dvd's in human history, even if they are the last available releases of the OOT. I made the gravest mistakes getting any star wars movie on DVD. Lucas is in some absolute downward spiral. This is the last straw of the last straw.
I vehemently hate corporate America because of him.

Just Saw The Unaltered Trilogy For The First Time...
Time
Right on Darth evil. I actually watched the OOT with a friend at college a month ago, and it was awesome. It was probably the first "actual" viewing of the original trilogy. I am fortunate enough to have a faces vhs set that has Han shooting first and the line "you dont taste too good". Of course, there is a sound mix thing i don't understand, but even though i saw the SE first in the theater, I consider this the trilogy I grew up with.

what is the world coming to?
Time
first, i'd like to say i'm a long time visitor, first-time "boarder"

Now I was stoked when they were going to release the OOT, but I've subsided after learning they were letterbox and not the standard anamorphic. Lucasfilm hit a new low introducing a beloved trilogy into a obsolete and substandard format. What world do we live in if such cinematic wastes of plastic such as showgirls, batman and robin, and leonard part 6 get anamorphic, deluxe releases and the OOT can't? A slovakian bootleg of SW from the 80's recorded on cheap dvr's are going to have better quality that this release!

Nethertheless, the OOT is a hundered times better than the SE or the PT, and I prefer Jedi over Episode III any day in the week.
