Do you think George Lucas will correct the colors for the blu-ray release?
Time

You'd better work on a viable theory of time travel, captainsolo, because that's the only way you will ever see the OT again. I would die of shock if there wasn't a horrid video release of SW. I entirely bet that there will never, ever, ever, EVER be a future release of the OOT that will be done to modern video standards, and anyone who believes otherwise is huffing gasoline fumes. The ultimate bitch of all this is that such a great trilogy was created by some backwater hack (Lucas) who feels films are never complete, and they can be altered whenever you have enough cash to add in more fucking special effects. SW will suffer the exact same fate as Lost Horizon and we are powerless to do anything against it.

Abrams is Destroying Star Trek like Lucas has Destroyed Star Wars
Time

Well, the odd Star Trek films are always bad, if I remember my rules correctly. (and all I've seen of ST was the first season of TOS and Wrath of Khan)

I find it interesting that you brought up Koepp in this discussion, because he also wrote the lost world, war of the worlds, and the upcoming angels and demons. But I'm not going to see Transformers 2 because I don't really want to subject myself to another Bay film; unfortunately, Transformers to me represents the zeitgeist of our era, despite being hardly a good film.

TPM: A Decade Later
Time

Yeah, I was  shocked that Qui-gon died in TPM. (And subsequently disappears from the PT)

Anyways, the sad thing about this film is that this is the best we got out of the PT. I honestly gave the first two films of the PT a chance, but until I realized how bad the whole PT was I simply cannot watch either film anymore, unless I want to mock the hell out of it.

Unfortunately, when the SW Blu-Ray finally shows up (I'm guessing 2-3 years from now) they will make you pine for the 04 versions. And when, if they ever, decide to release the OOT on Blu-Ray, it will most certainly be the same LD port we have now. To think the SW Blu-Ray will be any good is asking for the impossible. I am certain that even in 2020 when Blu-Ray itself bites the dust the GOUT will still be the standard.

On the Abrams Star Trek, I honestly think it will be horrid at best. I've chosen to see it simply because it appears to so bad it worth wasting $10 to see yet another franchise bite the dust. Which is sad because it is now certain that every single fucking franchise that was adored in the last 35 years will be pulverized into pure unadulterated garbage by their own creators (as Lucas with the PT and Indy 4), or by some outsider (Bay with Transformers or Abrams with Star Trek). Eventually each summer just brings another destroyed franchise limping into the theaters, and it is our unfortunate duty to watch it all burn away. I just can't wait to see what 80s franchise they'll maul in 2010.
