Why David Lynch Turned Down Return of the Jedi
Time

As a matter of fact, Herbert (along with Asimov) felt that Star Wars was derivative to his own work and hated it. Also, it has been said in one of the drafts in ANH that the death star plans were supposed to be a treasure chest of spice.

Plus, why do you think C3PO said: "we'll be sent to the spice mines in Kessel for sure?" in the beginning of ANH?

"The People Vs. George Lucas" documentary...
Time

Seriously, I'm well aware that there's a bigger picture that will hopefully be put across properly in this documentary, such as the desire for the OOT to be released in a proper, respectful manner in a digital format, before whatever remains of the negatives degrades beyond repair.

Keep dreaming. You know that the OOT will bite the dust no matter how much you complain. Lucas has willed it.

Five live action shows
Time

If Lucas releases the true unmolested versions of his movies restored on blu ray that will be the last of anything i ever by from Lucasfilm.

Here is a list of them:

THX 1138

American Graffiti

Star Wars

The Empire Strikes Back

Return of the Jedi

Raiders of the Lost Ark

The Temple of Doom

The Last Crusade

Nice pipe dream, skyjedi. The remastered OOT is the ST of this site.

The 2012 doomsday scenario has a more likely chance than this.

Our Fault, Not George's?
Time

Ok, I recant my previous statements.

But let me ask you a question, vaderisnothayden- do you think that the PT are the three worst films in the history of cinema? And BTW, I never said the PT was any good in the first place.

Yet I think that some people here on the site are unhinged, and IMO just as bad as GL in his treatment of the OT. And yes, I have acted pretty hyperbolic myself in prior years, but I realize now that  this way of thinking is counterproductive to the debate. Anyways, I AM NOT praising the PT/SE or fan gushing over Lucas, but I feel some persons make the PT out to be some great human atrocity instead of just a couple of bad movies. And that is what I was trying to say.

Flame on...

If Lucas did a proper oot restoration for blu ray and dvd would he be forgiven for the special editions and the prequels?
Time

Time to throw my two cents in.

Yes, I would forgive him if he fixed the OOT; but the truth is this will never happen. First, the only real hope for the OOT to be restores is for Lucas to die. I believe that Lucas is going to be definitely around for another 20-25 years, and by the time he actually passes away the prints of the OOT will be so damaged that any form of restoration will be impossible. As I said a while ago, if there was some law protecting original works against their own creators, we maybe won't have lament the loss of the OOT; alas, that is not what happened.

PS I hate to heretical, but I'm fine with the GOUT, even though it is in "grindhouse" quality.

Indy BluRay pushed off til 2010, what does that mean for SW?
Time

Well, what we have learned about all this is that we need to protect films from their own creators if they act like Lucas and destroy their own works and deny future generations of the greatness of the OOT. WE might as well destroy every single reel of film ever produced in the last 120 years if it means the no one can no longer watch the OOT.

The Indy BluRay pushed back to 2010, BTW, means nothing to the release of the OT onto the same format. You guys just assume that Indy has to be released before SW because that was what happened with the DVD releases. To me this seems like misguided logic.
