On a second note the trailer for the SW BD emphasized the PT more than the OT.

Sacrificing art for money, what a waste.
Sansweet was complicit in the drowning of the OOT. Him leaving Lucasfilm changes nothing. The destruction of the OOT is still going on and he did nothing to stop it. Don't people at Lucasfilm realize these are not just a certain version of a movie that is being suppressed, it's the essence of everything that is at stake? Do they even know how monstrous they really, really are?
Think about this, kenkraly2007, the actual films of the OT are not going to be on this set. And even if you prefer the SE, you still have to buy the PT to get the OT. Third, these may be a third version of the SE, and have an AV quality that might be an insult to the BD format.
Ditto. I always thought Roeg was a little overlooked too.
Speaking of horror movies, I saw Eraserhead yesterday. What a weird film.
He hasn't apologized to the OOT fans, so he cannot be forgiven.
I will not even bother to forgive him as long he treats the OOT as a discontinued product.
Stop milking the cash cow, Lucas. It's been bleeding for the past five years...
At least we have the OOT in some legal form, even though it will be 20-30 years before we them remastered.
And speaking of the PT, to me it felt like a downward spiral that made you unable to suspend your disbelief in these films. Watching ROTS is not like seeing the bridge of past and present, but rather the feeling that it's just a movie, written by has-been who probably never saw his own films in the last 20 years. And the sad thing is that TPM was the best the PT ever got. I know it's unwatchable, but unlike everyone else here, I initially enjoyed TPM when it came out (I was stupid). But maybe because I was relatively new to SW and was under the delusion that the new movies were going to be great.
maybe Leia can see dead people. That's the only way GL can resolve this plot hole.
If this is going to be on the BD, I wonder what other changes will be in store for 2011? Lucas keeps changing his vision every seven years.
The disrespect for the OOT is the thing that really pisses me off.
It's still the truth. And I now make my exit.
I definitely think that Lucas is repressing history and that he should be opposed. The problem here is that no else here realizes that we as a whole are nothing more than a fringe group, thrown into the dustbin of history. Few people are willing to side with us because we are perceived as radicals, and most people consider it insanity to side with us. I don't like what GL is doing to SW as much as anyone on this site. But it is like fighting an atom bomb with a slingshot. We have more in common with Cuban exiles than with mainstream society. In the end our voices will be silenced and no one will give a fuck. So if you are angry at what I am saying, deal with it.
Get out of this Frink, you're not adding anything to this discussion
don't you ever dare attack me.
I would love to see the OOT saved, but no one has suggested any practical reason fight against GL.
The mood of your site, zombie, seems to imply that we are losing in the fight, while the OOT is dying by inches. And you think the OOT will last forever?
Finally, someone who is on the right track!
They thought coke was about as addictive as peanut butter back then. How dark the 70s were.
LOL I know that. I wasn't being histrionic with that comment.
I'm addressing the people who are under the collective delusion that someday in the future the OOT will come back remastered and rehabilitated, maybe around the time of GL's death. I'm sorry to say it, but SW is dead, man; cold and dead in the ground. Sorry you are all in denial about the destruction of our beloved movies. The only thing we can possibly do is indict GL for the crime he has committed.
You know what, I don't think SW will be saved. We lost, and cannot admit it.
No they're going to fuck it up even worse on the blu-ray, I just know it. First, its being done by the same people who did the 04 dvds, so there's no hope there. Second, the originals aren't going to be released, so who should honestly care about the quality of a product we are not going to even buy? Third, there's DVNR, and I bet Lucas is going use that on the PTSE anyway.
I never implied that Lucas raped my childhood. I personally did know who he was until I was 10 years old. But I knew SW long before I knew Lucas.
Not really. He has done everything in his power to ensure the OOT never gets seen in decent quality beyond even his won life. He has no regard for the damage he is doing to these films, but is rather proud of it. Now he sinks to another low point by releasing the films in 3-d, hoping to destroy 2d filmmaking- by stretching out a fad that should not have been revived twice in the last 50 years! Hell, the asshole who invented 3D should have left that idea on the drawing board and never look back.
Back to Lucas, he ranted about colorization 20 years ago, but now he is committing an act that is hundreds of times worse than the issue he complained about. He has said in countless interviews that the OOT is nothing more than a rough cut that he was ashamed of, and he doesn't care that that is the only version that is important, not the PTSE bullshit that has been shoved down our throats for the last 13 years. He is a revisionist in the same vein as any communist dictator hungry for power and recognition at the expense of everyone else save himself.
To Lucas, the OOT is on the same level as the SW Holiday Special:a thing that should be smashed with a hammer.
But it will be half-assed anyway, from what is known about Lucasfilm's treatment of the movies on DVD.
Now I'm thinking the reason Lucas made the OOT so great just so he could strangle it to death 20 years later out of pure, sadistic, cruelty. He is the Pol Pot of cinema.
