I thought putting tinfoil on windows was supposed to cut the heat down, but it doesn't seem to do jack shit -- I'm still miserably hot, just in darkness instead of sunlight.

I had never heard of this solution before.

I don't know.... tinfoil + heat... isn't that how you cook potatoes??

I don't claim to understand the kooky science behind it all, but apparently tinfoil on windows is supposed to act as a reflector, bouncing the light and heat that'd otherwise pour right on in back. As I've said, though, I haven't noticed any real heat reduction; perhaps I didn't apply the tinfoil right, or it's just too hot out for it to work well.

Im my house it takes an hour and a half in a 350F oven to get a decently cooked baked potato; otherwise it's completely raw in the middle.

Imagine your car has fallen off a cliff, and have no hope of saving yourself, therefore facing imminent death. You have no choice but to mope about your fate. This is what has happened with mankind and global warming; even if we start doing the most drastic actions to alter course, our race has been checkmated. Excuse me for sulking over something that I can no longer change.

How about climate change/ global warming? It will drive humanity to extinction decades from now (along with countless plant and animal species), and yet we will do nothing about it, or even deny it's existence. It sucks that our species has to end like this, and I feel cheated that I won't have a long and healthy life due to the enviornment being now unsuitable for life. The reports coming in are just getting worse and worse; what scientists are predicting 100 years from now could happen on a much more amplified scale 20 years from now! I blame the politicians for wiping out humanity like this, with their ties to big oil and climate change deniers. I'm pissed off that we're going extinct this way.

He changed Hollywood again just as he did with the first Star Wars film.

I put more blame on Gus Van Sant and his abysmal Psycho remake for making Hollywood the way it is today than I do Lucas.

But Psycho 1998 didn't make $450 million domestically. Look at Transformers, Star Trek, Amazing Spider-Man, and Man Of Steel. All those film franchises have been influenced in one way or another by the Phantom Menace (or the PT) with their over-complicated plots, over-reliance on CGI, and contempt for their audience.

... And we hated Jar-Jar anyways, so it failed.

In some sense, Lucas was right about him "being the key to all this, because he is a funnier character than the others..." shows the misguided focus of the whole film. And ironically, every blockbuster since TPM has been focused on hype that doesn't deliver, lack of focus, and making money anyways due to its vague connection to original source material. He changed Hollywood again just as he did with the first Star Wars film.

It was the best the prequels ever got; at least there was a kid of warped nostalgia about if you were the right age. It's the one prequel I have watched the most out of the PT, but I haven't seen it all the way through for over a decade. I think I kinda knew it sucked all along, but it took me some time to truly realize the level of awfulness we were given. I watched it only twice in the theater. At least we realized the truth of George's lack of talent at the same time.

Besides "The films need to be the way I want them," has Lucas stated anything as to why the Blu-rays became the travesty that they are?

It is always too good to be true. Star wars is cursed. I'm one hundred percent certain that we will all die long before the OT gets a proper video release by a major film studio.

You should be a soap actor; you've got the melodrama to play the part.

More like soap writer; no one can really get the correct emotion in writing. In fact, I could have been completely calm when I wrote that post.

But to stay on topic, it just seems like fate always turn its head against us when it comes to star wars. We didn't deserve the GOUT, the bad prequels, and even more changes to the OT for all the money we gave to Fox/Lucasfilm over four decades. We just want something good in return, that's all.

On the record, I actually like the LOTR films, but I haven't seen the Hobbit movies either. And I never actually read the books prior to seeing the movies, so I don't really have a problem with the changes Jackson made from the books. But he really jumped the shark with the King Kong remake, and Vigo Mortnesen called him out on his over reliance on special effects and bloat in the sequels.

I love the LOTR film trilogy when it came out (and still kinda do), but in hindsight   Peter Jackson should of died of a massive coronary before he even shot a single frame of film. It's clear he never understood anything of Tolkien's work or themes; he's just some kiwi fuck who likes transformers-sequel action movies, and imposed the Final Solution on Middle Earth fans, and people have suffered endlessly since then. Hopefully Tolkien's estate will make sure this never happens again; these films are very like the ring of power itself. When the third Hobbitt film comes out, I'll have to throw my LOTR DVDs into the fire, and I'm a big fan of those movies!

Why is it that with every movie I like, everybody else will eventually hate it?

Better, yes--obviously.  But we'd still be here complaining that the 1981 crawl made things worse for no good reason (curse you, Lucas!), that Lowry was still screwing up the transfers to home video, that the mono mix wasn't available (curse you, Lucas!), there'd be a fan restoration attempt to re-create the unavailable 70mm cut of Empire (curse you, Lucas!), and there'd be a healthy argument about whether or not Jedi was actually any good.  The internet was made for complaining, we must allow it to fulfill its purpose.  In other words, if we lived in such a wonderful world, we wouldn't even realize we had it so good.

I think the SW franchise is a lot worse off than the Superman franchise, and I only really like one Superman movie, and the theatrical cut at that.  At least I was able to buy an ultra-deluxe Superman boxed set and throw away all of the discs except one, to get the movie I actually wanted.  No such option with Star Wars.

What I meant to say that both franchises only have two good films each, and has sucked ever since. The OT used to be sacred, a trio of masterpieces that were meant to be the high point of cinema. Not the idol is smashed to pieces, and I can't get used to it.

On a side note, I have to hate Jackson's LOTR trilogy now in light of the Hobbitt films. God damn it.

What if Lucas decided in 1983 to never make another star wars film again, or anyone else to make any after his death, and it was just limited to the first three films and the EU? Would it be better then, would we no longer have to be ashamed to love this decades tainted franchise that's going to have an even lover reputation ten years from now? Cause right now the SW franchise is not much better than the Superman film series.

You know... I just don't remember the chewbacca tarzan yell at all In Jedi; I'm not sure if it was in the original or added in the SE. But that's me: I didn't even remember the Greedo shoots first scene when I saw the SE in theaters.

Yes, it's always been there. It's nowhere near as funny as his offscreen guffaw when Threepio translates the Ewoks believing that he is "some sort of god" though.

I guess it never took me out of the movie then. I'l try to spot it next time I Jedi.
