I think the first line sounds pretty good but the second one could be improved (or removed entirely). Really it’s only the first one that’s important.

This is one of the best ideas - it finally gives Finn the full circle of his arc that was so severely missing. It’s a shame there can’t be more than this but the fact it can now be here does something to at least round out his story.

Great to see you back! But yeah… babies tend to take priorities over such things. Congratulations on that. Take your time - enjoy every second with the little one - we’ll all be here excited for the final product when it’s ready.

A decent amount. I wanted to generate some new Armorer lines for a Mandalorian edit I’m doing for myself and I found putting “I said slowly and deliberately” got me much closer to the delivery that I wanted most of the time. Without it the lines were delivered WAY too quickly. I allowed me to focus each generation on getting the delivery I wanted without getting hung up on the speed.

But I would say using that will get you closer to what you’re aiming for much quicker than just randomly generating and hoping for the best.

I tried generating some new lines for Book of Boba Fett and it took ages to get anything remotely passable. It’ll get there.

I do find, though, that putting the lines you want in quotation marks and adding something like “I said slowly and menacingly” after that helps (if you use “he said” the AI tries makes the voice you want then narrator and they deliver the actually line in a slightly different tone so it doesn’t quite work)

Work does have the habit of getting in the way of the more important things! Looking forward to this - but the important thing is you having the time to make sure you’re happy with your final product!

Great news on Book 2. Can’t wait to watch. Finally got to sit down with Book 1 yesterday. The inclusion of the prison break is excellent. The ending of them walking off to town together was sublime. It really felt like a whole film, albeit the beginning of something much bigger. I can’t wait to see how the next part comes together based on the cut list.

I just looked and saw your first post was less than two years ago. This is one hell of an accomplishment in that time!

For Mortis, I love these ideas. It’s only an episode I’ve seen all the way through once (I generally skip it on rewatches) but I love the way you’re approaching it.

That said, I feel like you should leave it more mysterious as to why they are going there. Let them discover Qui-Gon when they’re there (since they kinda/sorta forget anyway) but given how surprised Obi-Wan is at the end of ROtS to find that Yoda has been communing with him I feel like them actively following a call from him doesn’t quite work. Perhaps then following some kind of “tremor in the Force” or something like that. Leave it mysterious then have us be shocked when Qui-Gon’s presence is revealed.

I don’t know how you feel about that…

This sounds really interesting. I’m especially intrigued with regards to what you are going to do in terms of pacing.

Both good points. The way I see this is that Jedi take kids away to train. It’s sort of an accepted thing. She gives the story “my place is here” to make it better for him but we can assume she knows the deal.

I tried this in the prequel redux thread to continue this idea into AOTC. The third edit on the post is the closest to where I want it right now. I’ve since smoothed the audio a little with some music from the scene but by the time I did that the thread had moved on. But you can hopefully get the gist of how those ideas from here could potentially carry over.

A lot of this is exactly what I thought would be the theme of the movie - Rey and Ben’s respective journeys in different directions. It’s what I’ve tried to do with my own personal cut - but this looks fantastic. While it’s sad to see Leia go so early it makes the Death Star duel so much better.

I think there’s a lot of potential for ROTJ so it has my vote too.

I actually felt it was pretty worthwhile. Even though we discussed quite a lot of topics, I feel like it at least kept the discussion on one particular movie without getting lost in other conversations. I think that genuinely gave us some solid ideas to work with. That being said, it does feel quite quick to move to another movie. It certainly seems like there’s a lot more to do - and a lot more material to create.

I love this! I remember AlaskanSandman trying something similar and was sad it wasn’t able to come to anything. I always feel like we need some sense of what has happened to the later line “our people are suffering” hits home more.

Not sure about dead civilians - at least not front and center. Maybe some Naboo soldiers who died trying to repel the initial attack… Would that be possible?

He says “thee” quite often in place of “you” so you may just need a nice, clean “n” that flows with it

I’ve been exploring Watto’s lines and I’m really not sure. What we have is limited and trying to get the tone right by constructing lines would be a challenge. You really need to maintain him being kind of sneaky (with the implication that his dice are loaded to give him the result he wants). So it’s more than just finding the words.

Yet I really want to make this work…

Edit: but wait. We may not just be limited to the movies! I just found this collection of Watto lines from the pod race video game that may help. Haven’t explored it all yet but I heard him say “no” in the first few seconds…

That is a tough call. I remember watching it back then and being very intrigued by the changes you made. I don’t recall it being hard to follow - just it being very different.

Mostly I was into the addition of Dooku so whatever you choose to do, having that will make it continue to be a joy!

Not to change the topic too much, but keeping on the idea of maintaining as much as possible while also achieving our goals, I was thinking about how we could have both Anakin and his mother freed but also keep the dice bet. The line as it stands is “Blue—it’s the boy. Red—his mother.” Could there be a way of constructing dialogue to be either Anakin or BOTH of them.

I can’t look at it right now - but two options I can think of are to change the dialogue to “Blue—it’s the boy. Red—them both/the two of them.” That would require a change in the result with VFX work.

Or to flip it to “Red—it’s the boy. Blue—them both/the two of them.” But I just don’t know if the way Watto says “Red” would fit at the start of the phrase (if I recall it feels very “here’s the second option” in the way he delivers the line)

Haha. My kid is awesome - I can’t wait until she’s old enough to sit down and show these to. She’s definitely in the zone of happily playing with toys while I watch her, then when I decide I can probably do a little editing alongside her, suddenly decide now is the time to try and climb the stairs! It’s a hell of an age.

But I like your interpretation of Anakin’s mood her. Definitely not intended but it works. I’m trying to smooth over some of the cuts with the score. Will see how it goes.

Not Jar Jar specifically but I was doing some digging around knowing that we’ve sourced some Kylo Ren and Finn lines (among others) from Battlefront 2 and found that that ‘04 version had several minutes of Gungan lines that could possibly pass for him and be useful (especially during the final battle if we want to make him seem more proactive).

Finally finished up transcribing the Jar Jar lines from TCW. Hopefully people will be able to make use of this.

I actually think a lot of ‘The Disappeared’ could prove useful in TPM since it involves him trying help (and later save) a Queen.
