I like it - the mouth sync was a bit soft in the prequels with Jar Jar and Watto anyway, so I’m not sure it’s a dealbreaker. I’d suggest moving the Huttese line to earlier, when he first mentions Cleig Lars, then Anakin’s “I’d like to know,” then “he married her.”

I’ve tried it that way around. The audio cuts are a little squiffier than in the original but I just wanted to see what people think about this ordering. Now I’ve watched it a few times I feel like we may need to repurpose some of the lines from earlier to “Believe it or not, I heard he … married her” to pad it out a little.

edit: Here are both versions with the “believe it or not”.

edit2: realized that I probably needed to more than move some shots around. We now have redundant line near the end. This is what I get for trying to do this while also running around after a toddler! Will fix it in a bit. But at least it’s good for seeing the new placement.

edit 3: Here is another go for both versions and an attempt to remove the redundant lines near the end of the second version. Audio is now far from perfect but, again, this is more of a proof of concept. I think the “believe it or not” doesn’t work in the first version so I’ve removed it there but kept it in the second.

I’ll try it that way around tomorrow. I liked the idea of Anakin interrupting him while he drifted off and started speaking Huttese and bringing him back to his senses. But I’ll pay around with it.

That’s a good idea. I’ll play around with that a little.

I may have come up with a solution to the earlier problem by slightly slowing down the few seconds of Watto speaking. It’s not perfect but at least his mouth is moving for the whole line. A little inelegant but I’ll keep at it.

edit: Here’s another go at the Watto scene. It includes the slowed down version of him speaking (again, not perfect but a slight improvement) and the lines you mentioned about him having sold Lars something. I couldn’t construct a line, but one nice thing about Watto (in both movies) going in and out of Huttese, I was able to put in something subtitled. I liked your idea of implying its Luke’s future T-16 skyhopper but I feel like you’d hear the “T” even in Huttese and I was a little limited in what I could use. Either way, it kind of accomplishes what you were suggesting

It’s hard. I was able to get the start of “years” and the remaining parts of that shot to line up fairly well. And in the original “years ago” was spoken off camera as we’re looking at Anakin. And I’ve already used that shot here while Watto says “at least I think it was Lars.” Will have to play around with it some more.

Alright. About to take one for the team and work my way through all the Clone Wars episodes with Jar Jar to transcribe his lines. Wish me good luck.

edit: So far I’ve got up to (and including) S04E04 Shadow Warrior. Hopefully there’s some useful lines/sounds that can be used. I’m using Disney+ to make my notes so I can’t actually rip the BR and isolate dialogue etc. but at least this should provide a resource for those that can.

Here is the spreadsheet I’ve created.

Just have the season 6 two-parter to go. But I’m calling it quits for the night. I’m Jar Jar’d out!

That’s a really good shout. Is anyone able to provide a list? (Could copy my spreadsheet to use as a template, then I’ll merge them?) I’ve watched those episodes to death for my edit, please don’t make me watch them again! 😉

I can certainly give that a go. I’ll have a few spare hours Friday evening to get started. Can probably at least get his first two appearances done.

For thought 1: I think it works well the way it is. As much as I love Rex, the stories of these clones stand out on their own. It’s a nice little anthology that doesn’t really need more connectivity than is already there.

Thought 2: This does feel like it would connect Mandalore more closely to the overall war until the Maul factor kicks in fully. I think it could work either this way or how it was presented originally though.

I don’t know if this is a consideration regarding Clone Cadets/Rookies/Arc Troopers (or even if it’s possible - I haven’t seen the individual episodes outside of Smudger’s movie edit in years) but… could it work as Arc Troopers being the main story with the most important elements and moments of the other two episodes scattered throughout as flashbacks? That way you find the best spot for the episode and don’t need to worry about where to place the others within your timeline.

While I’m not replying I am finding myself jumping into this thread multiple times a day because I am enjoying your thought process here. I think this is a great approach.

One question regarding to Geonosis arc - I really liked how Smudger interlaced the events with Anakin on the planet with Ahsoka and Barris on the ship. I think it was one of his most effective examples of making two episodes flow as one. Is that something you are considering here?

I also just finished it up. I was actually really impressed at how you were able to make the mudhorn scene fit. In terms of making sure this essential scene was there it was a clever way of doing it (in fact figuring out how to do that was half the reason I never bothered making my own edit of this).

Overall the narrative is solid. You hit all the key points and we get all the essential character development. It’s got me pretty pumped for season 2!

The Last Jedi - 'The End' Edition' (V1 NOW COMPLETE!) (Released)

This is looking fantastic. Sadly no matter how much editing people put into TROS, the only way to end with a genuinely great movie is by doing what you’re doing.

Now you had mentioned having the two halves of Luke’s lightsaber which would be amazing. The link below contains images of a fan made version of the split saber. I’m not technically minded when it comes to this but I feel like the plain backgrounds would make it fairly easy to place into the shots in question with a little work.

I just wish I had the know how to help.

Palpatine is still integral to Rey’s past whether she is his grandkid or not, the point of the hooded figure is to at least imply a connection.

This exactly. In fact, if you go the Rey Nobody route but still have Palpatine have her parents killed, the fact that this cloaked figure appears would act as a hint to the hand he played in their fate.
