Star Wars Spinoffs announced
Time

Just to clarify, in one of the scripts to TESB, Yoda does indeed have a lightsaber fight with the ghost of Kenobi.

And yes, I agree that giving Yoda a lightsaber was lame (just like most every other decision in the PT), but I wouldn't have minded seeing him use a saber just once, and similar to how he decapitated those soldiers in ROTS. Quick and deadly. And that's it. And only in the direst of circumstances.

Dark Horse to adapt "The Star Wars."

They could have done it as a film way back when but it was way too much a ripoff of Hidden Fortress.

Oh REALLY? Because the 1974 draft the comic is based on bears no resemblance to Hidden Fortress.

Why do you even other coming to a SW message board, Sky? I've never seen a post from you that was anything but entirely negative towards everything Star Wars (and usually contains incorrect information). It's exhausting.

Help Wanted: The Prequel Edit Problem - remove the music & sound effects without removing the dialogue...
Time

You cannot remove dialog if it's mixed in the same channel with the music and sound effects. I'm assuming Clone Wars has a separate channel for dialog hence the easy extraction.

The same thing goes for music. You can use a phase inversion technique to remove everything but the center channel, which is usually the vocals, but traces still remain of the music in most instances.

You can't just magically extract something after its been mixed. It's like trying to remove the egg from a baked cake. :)

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**
Time

Looks like ST09 is REALLY polarizing. People either love it or hate it. I'm a fan of Star Trek (not a super-fan, but a fan) and I loved it. My Dad's been a super-fan since he was a kid, and he also loved it.

As for Kirk being too smug, keep in mind this isn't the same Kirk. He's grown up without his father in this time line. That being said, the Kobayashi Maru scene is the ONLY scene I really dislike in the film.

As for Abrams directing SW......I'm kinda' indifferent. I was hoping they'd go for somebody less obvious. Less of a "name" director.

Disney Acquires LucasFilm for $4.05 billion, Episode 7 in 2015, 8 and 9 to Follow, New Film Every 2-3 Years
Time

Ugh. I don't even peruse many forums, but I'm already getting sick of everybody saying Marvel will get the SW comic.

From Randy Stradly himself:

My advice is don't believe everything you see. Especially if it originates on a fan site.

A lot of pessimism on this board. I expected people to be excited at the prospect of new movies without Lucas screwing them up.

In all honesty, I think the new movies will be good. Because it makes sense business-wise to make good movies. I'm sure Disney knows how special this property is, and how much pressure is being directed at them. I seriously doubt they're gonna screw this up.

Think of all the film makers who are huge SW fans. I highly doubt they'll hire just some hack to do this. I imagine somebody getting the job based on how driven they seem. I mean, hell, they hired freakin' James Gunn for the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Really, If I get a new Star Wars movie that is fun and doesn't suck, I think it'll be great.

Also, do you think some of the actors from the original movies have been signed for the new ones without us knowing it?

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

I don't know what's more shocking: the fact that somebody wanted a new Vader scene (complete with horrible dialog) put into Star Wars, or the fact that nobody told him he was nuts. You guys are getting soft! :P

How the hell would the Empire get that information so quickly, anyway? Ugh.

Yeah, I wrote all the music for Bill Pulmonary Embolism so that Nate could come in and lay down vocals. I've been in a band for the last 5 years that was another guy's baby and it took up a lot of my time. We just called it quits so I'm going to take the lead on my own project for awhile.

I turned my co-worker on to your music btw. Hopefully he has good things to say come Monday.

Ha! Nice! Let me know what he said, if you like (it can be negative :P).

And yeah, I've been in and out of bands since I was 13. My latest band is going to play its last show next month because the vocalist is moving to Tokyo.

Making your own music is fun, but its starting to burn me out after six years of mainly doing my own stuff. I've slowed way down since starting.

Your music is super fun man! I'm going to have to take a stroll through your discography. Is it normally just you, or do you do a lot of collaboration with different musicians?

Cool! Glad you liked it! The music is always just me (scratch that, I had somebody play guitar on one of my releases), but I work with different vocalists from time to time. Lately, the vocals have been just sung by me, though (like in that first song I linked).

Are you just the music part of your band (duo?), or do you do the vocals too?

Well, my intention wasn't to turn this thread into a place for me to spam my music, but since you asked.......

Here's a newer sci-fi song I've done (give it a bit to get going): http://vlantis.bandcamp.com/track/a-thousand-million-miles-from-mars

And here's a sci-fi song that's now a few years old. Pretty simple in retrospect, but it ended up on a compilation over in Switzerland that was released through a magazine. :P

Have a look around my bandcamp page if you like (or not;)). My stuff is mostly electropop but with a bit of punk. The Urotanki EP is pretty dorky with lots of girly Japanese vocals.

Post the link to your bandcamp page once you get everything set up! :)

Sounds like stuff I sing at karaoke. :)

I see you have a soundcloud page, but make sure to make a bandcamp page when you release your album. Bandcamp is awesome.

I think sci-fi lends itself to electronic more than anything (Then again, I don't really see what fantasy has in common with metal). I have a couple of sci-fi electropop songs that I've written.

[rant]After reading this whole thread I wonder how many of you guys have a girlfriend/wife :-) [/rant off]

I've got a wife who's eating ramen right next to me! We're watching a show where a dude ranks the movies released every month, because I want to see what he has to say about Prometheus and Avengers (I live in Japan and both movies came out this month). I'm interested in getting a Japanese perspective on these movies (haven't seen Avengers, though).

Been married seven years, have a three year old, and yes, she thinks I'm a dork. :P

EDIT: Dang. No Prometheus this week.

Maul could just as easily die before the events of Episode III. Just like Ashoka has to either disappear or die before the series is over.

It could all be "old news" by the time the events in the movie take place.

True, but I find it hard to believe that nobody would ever mention any of these characters, including the apprentice of the main character.

It has less to do with that and more to do with me just not being excited due to it not looking exciting.
