I don't know what the EU says, but in Star Wars Darth just seemed like Vader's first name, but now it's an official bad guy title.
Hey now, don't go blaming the EU for that. That was all Lucas circa Episode 1.

Ah, well, the Jedi Order of the PT is a cult, and cults definately like getting them when they're young and impressionable.
Just one more thing wrong with the prequels. ;)
Oh god. Make it stop.

That's exactly what I said: they'll do it if they think there's money in it. My concern is that they will deem it as having a negligible impact on their profits, and therefore not worth bothering with.
Does anyone really think that ticket sales for the new movies will be affected in any way by whether the original versions are available in stores? Or that the amount of toys sold will be influenced by this? Children buying toys today do not know or care whether Han shot first or not. It makes no difference to them; therefore it makes no difference to Disney. An official release could happen, but it would take a lot of persuading by people on the inside who have sufficient clout and can make a convincing case for it. They're not going to do it on their own, because that's not the reason they bought the Star Wars brand.
Releasing the originals will get a large number of people REALLY hyped and put in a "Star Wars mood." It'll reignite the flame, so to speak. It would with me.
The only reason why I don't like the people who come here and start complaining about people not liking the prequels (terrible, terrible films), is that they start to drag every thread off-topic. And I don't mean fun off-topic, I mean the same tired crap being discussed for years off-topic.
A topic most people aren't even interested in talking about, because they've moved well beyond caring about the prequels.
Just like in this thread. :(

Best that you don't watch Brainstorm or Galaxy Quest then. ;)
Just want to chime in and say that I adore Brainstorm. One of the best 80's science fiction movies. The story starts out pretty small and then gets huuuuuuge.

I have a feeling I generally like movies a lot less than you do.
I have a shallow field of tolerance from which most Hollywood-type films are excluded.
The only reason I watched Iron Man and its sequesl--the only Marvel Super-dude movies I've seen--is because of RDJ's involvement.
Oh wait, I also saw the Hulk with Ed Norton. However that memory is a little fuzzy due to my reactive bludgeoning-myself-with-a-hammer-to-please-make-it-stop-please the whole time.
I'm also gonna say you might want to check out Dredd. It's well-known that everybody thought it was gonna be awful, yet the majority was pleasantly surprised. In my opinion, it's certainly better than Iron Man and V for Vendetta.
My favorite comment:
SRUSLY, Y SPEND TONS OF DOUGH ON THIS SH*T WHEN U CAN CGI THAT IN? WASTE OF F*CKIN BUDGET. IS LUCAS STILL RUNNIN THE SHOW?? LET THE OLD DUDE KNOW IT AINT 1977. #TRUTH!!
Three random thoughts (assuming this is Tatooine):
Interesting parallel since the first set photo from Episode 1 was also from Tatooine. I also find it interesting that none of the main stars appear to be in any of these pictures. Perhaps they weren't there on the day of filming, or perhaps these weren't leaked by accident?
Even though I'm pretty positive about the movie, everybody praising the heavens because this looks less CG might want to keep in mind that Tatooine was basically practical in the prequels as well. That being said, I'm 99.9% sure these movies are going to be more enjoyable than the prequels.
I'm also wondering about Abrams use of a giant pig puppet, considering he's always gone with CG creatures before. I'm thinking this is a direct response to the overuse of CG in the prequels.
For what it's worth, the idea of Stormtroopers as clones has SORT OF been around since the first movie, according to a poster of a stormtrooper published in a UK magazine. I couldn't find the poster in question, but I found this:

Looks great, but I have to ask a stupid question:
Why was the canyon changed in the first place? I don't actually remember a reason being posted in this thread, and I just checked the first page, but none was given.
Is there a specific error during the canyon part? Did the canyon not match the surrounding asteroid landscape or something like that?

Yes?
Sorry, I was "oh my god-ing" the post above yours. You must have posted while I was reading the page.
Oh my god.
Harm got a shout out at The Digital Bits in their post about the rumors.
Awesome.
I'm just amazed that Ady has addressed countless "obscure" fixes before anybody mentions them. Who's helping m spot these? Honestly, the Slave 1 error was the first I've ever heard about it, and yet Ady already had a fix for it.

It really should have been Spielberg. He understands REAL moviemaking, not just CGI and fast editing. Star wars should have more in common with ET than Transformers.
Which was produced by Spielberg. ;)
Super 8 has more in common with ET than anything Spielberg's done in the last few decades.
One bad thing about living in Japan is that most movies come 1 - 3 months late (we're the last country to get Godzilla. Godzilla!!), but the good news is that the audience is WONDERFUL. In eight years, I've never heard anyone make even the slightest peep during a movie. Unfortunately it costs 20usd to go to the theater.

I wonder if Mike Stoklasa would be interested in just saying "Luke" if the Ian McDarmid clip isn't sufficient. He does a mean Emperor....
I've been wanting to suggest this since the original emperor clip was posted, but wasn't brave enough. :P

I used footage that Ady composited,....my audio does go out of sync a bit, but it should give you an impresion of concept,....You can hear the difference in the audio when you are prepared for it, I'm sure Ady could blend it better

"Luke Skywalker" doesn't sound half bad in that vid.
I've still got all of mine (around 50 or 60), including something like nine Chewbaccas. My wife made a video nine years ago using some of them:
Not ignored.
I repeat:
NOT ignored.

I just hope it's not delayed three months in Japan like every geek movie seems to be doing lately. The hobbit was the only movie we got at the same time last year, and now the second one isn't even coming out 'till the end of February. Japan is constantly the last country in the world to get movies, usually two months after the second to last country.
Fingers crossed.
If you don't mind me asking... are you a citizen of Japan?
I'm a "permanent resident," which means I'm the closest to a citizen as I can get. It's basically the Japanese green card.
I'm very happy with the December release, because it'll be really easy for me to take a Christmas trip to America. ;)

Well the marvel Star Wars comics are really just a blur now but what if some of the continuity in these new movies could be based after the events in those comics from 1977 to 1985.
The Marvel comics were pretty great up until the release of ROTJ and then...
Speak for yourself. The post-Jedi Marvel stuff is my favorite Star Wars ANYTHING after the original films. :)
