I'm probably gonna sound like a moocher, 'cause I don't know how to PIF, but could someone mail me a copy of the DVD-9 with Adywan's exquisite DVD artwork and disc-art once it's released? I don't have a DVD burner on my computer, nor do I personally know anyone who does. That's the only reason I'm not doing this myself.

If someone says yes, you get to know my address!

PS: I live in the US. That should narrow it down a little.

Passing (or Paying) It Forward is the meaning of PIF. You might be able to work out a deal with another forum member, but you can't be part of a PIF chain without a DVD burner.

Personally, I'm having problems finding a DVD-9. I've got a burner here at work I can borrow, but my small town Walmart doesn't have anything besides DVD-5s. I have plenty of time before the NTSC ISO goes live though, so I'm not worried. I'll tear this town apart until I have that dual layer disc!

I favor a post-credits shot of the DSII, but only if it's done in a very minimalist manner.

What I have in mind is:
1. The credits and music end.
2. In silence, the starfield slowly pans to the right.
3. As the camera continues to pan to the right, we reveal first the Executor, the rest of the imperial fleet, the edge of Endor, and finally the DSII above Endor.
4. Fade to black.

Nice.

I'm not really fussed about the inclusion of the scene in ESB — but I do think it makes much more sense here than in ROTS and would like to see it cut from ROTS when it comes to that.

Good point about the time frame thing, unless they started building both DSs at the same time. And there should be a tease about a new DS when we know what it is. If someone watched them in order, he probably wouldn't remember the "plans" scene from a movie before to know what Vader and Tarkin are looking at in RotS.

Ady could either cut out the DS from RotS and put it in space, or remove Tarkin and use the whole scene from RotS.

I keep flip-flopping back and forth on this issue. I hope that Ady brings his cool head in here and tell us what he thinks so we can just stop the debate.

I am agreeing that a death star II appearance would be intrusive in the film, or at the least needlessly distracting, but i do have an idea:

earlier in the film, ie when the super star destroyer is first seen, endor could be viewed in the background, but WITHOUT the DSII. this would hopefully allow the viewer to subconsciously be familiar with the moon.

the film could progress as usual and then eventually end, then after the credits as a bonus (though it may seem painfully cliche) we could see the imperial fleet drifting around endor, like earlier in the film, then slowly pan left to distantly reveal a very de-constructed DSII.

I like, no love the idea of having them in orbit around Endor looking for the Rebels, with no Death Star visible. I also like the post credits idea. After all the music is done, just show the fleet and pan over to the Death Star shell from Ep3, maybe with just the soft version of the Imperial March playing very quietly in the background, like they are building the March as well. That way, if people don't like it, they can just stop watching before they get there! It also goes around my rule of "No DSII in ESB" since ESB is over by that point.

Don't beat me up, Im scarred!

No really, Im easily confused, I know about your explanations but I hardly know what PAL means. I just know that go to some website and something about sending and seeding and I have it!

What is the Exact Website. I Know what your thinking "Like talking to Wall"

PAL is the standard format for videos in the UK. Apparently it has higher quality, but runs faster, which is strange to me.

Anyway, there is no exact website. It's going up on a newsgroup, which is like the "sending and seeding" you mentioned, but taken care of by your internet service provider, so it costs money. Just take a look at any of the links we posted already.

If you're looking for the easy way (torrents), then you have to wait a while. That's what I'm planning on doing.

I have A DVD Case with your art, And I just stare At the cover open it and find no Cd, Its Killing me.

quick question: Will the DVD 9 the Adywan is uploading(and where) have all the menues and deleted stuff if you put it on a disk.

I'm not sure what you're asking. But yes, the DVD will have all of the things the DVD should have on it. He's uploading the disc image, which you burn to a DVD and it acts like a regular movie DVD.

But they may increase your allocation for a nominal fee !

;' )

Actually.. just checked, and saw they don;t... 90 day retention is good for an ISPs own server though ! You could get 3/4 of it and then ask for reposts !!! ;' )

Have you checked out giganews or similar?

I am made of patience, so I can wait for Rapidshare or torrents.

3) for those who have NO understanding of newsgroups and how they work....

Awesome stuff there. I wonder if Comcast has a newsgroup...

EDIT: It turns out that they do. However:

The Comcast High-Speed Internet service now includes free access to newsgroups through the Comcast Newsgroup service (powered by Giganews). Your free account includes up to two gigabytes of downloads per month (headers are not counted towards your 2 gigabytes).

Nevermind then, I need at leat 4 times that.

hmm sorry this is somehow to high for me.. how do I get to alt.binary.starwars ?

well doesn' matter.. I really thank adywan and all who helped him for his/their great creative/technical effort.. really looking forward to this! :9

Unless I'm mistaken (which is why I need help with my post), you have to contact your service provider to subscribe to newsgroups. Basically, it costs money, which is why I know nothing about it and will wait for the Rapidshare or Torrent.

Here is a guide on how to get Revisited for yourself:

Newsgroups: alt.binary.starwars (a.b.starwars) is a newsgroup.

wikipedia said:

Newsgroup servers are hosted by various organizations and institutions. Most Internet Service Providers host their own News Server, or rent access to one, for their subscribers. There are also a number of companies who sell access to premium news servers.

While Newsgroups were not created with the intention of distributing binary files, they have proven to be quite effective for this. Due to the way they work, a file uploaded once will be spread and can then be downloaded by an unlimited number of users. More useful is the fact that every user is drawing on the bandwidth of their own news server. This means that unlike P2P technology, the user's download speed is under their own control, as opposed to under the willingness of other people to share files. In fact this is another benefit of Newsgroups: it is usually not expected that users share. If every user makes uploads then the servers would be flooded; thus it is acceptable and often encouraged for users to just leech.

Each version of Revisited is available via alt.binary.starwars and is split into many files that need to be put back together using WinRAR.

Rapidshare: Rapidshare is a free hosting website, which due to file size limitations will also have the ISO file split up into several pieces that need to be put back together using WinRAR.

Torrents: Torrents are files that contain metadata and tracking information so that using a Torrent program like uTorrent one would be able to download the entire ISO file in one piece, but from multiple places (peer-to-peer, or P2P)

ISO files can then be burned directly to a DVD using any CD/DVD burning program by "burning a disc image" not just by burning the file to a disc. Take note that the new version requires a DUAL LAYER DVD, so make sure you get a "dual layer" or "double layer" or "DL" DVD (+R or -R). Verbatim is the brand of choice. Burn at the slowest speed your DVD DL burner can go and have it verify the file to minimize errors.

(PM me for suggestions/revisions NOT questions, because I don't know how any of this works, I just looked them up)

i give up. Someone or something is out to get me. Just started uploading the PAL but it was crawling and i mean crawling. opened up my emails and there was one waiting for me from my isp:

"please be aware that from 17:00 on the 12th may 2008 your line may be restricted to 16kbps upstream and 512kbps downstream due to urgent maintenance at the exchange in your area. The work should take no longer than 48 hours but your speed will likely not improve until your profile is reset, normally within 10 working days"

thats just taking the piss. there is no possible way i can upload this now with those speeds and i'm still having to pay the full months money to my isp. So i guess i'm just going to have to wait until i get a decent enough speed to be able to get this out

not happy :(

16kps up? That's ridiculous. Couldn't one of the PIFed people upload it for you? I guess not, or they wouldn't need it PIFed, would they? ;-)

Don't worry about it, we'll just talk about the awesome painting until you get your speeds up.

And it also gives us more time to write up some kind of tutorial to keep the "How duz I git this?!" messages to a minimum.

I like that it still has the "only factory sealed packages" have the 20th Century Fox logo... I wouldn't think you'd want to put all of the copyright stuff on this quasi copyright questionable item...

"For Distribution only in the United States, its possessions and Canada." - "MADE IN U.K." LOL

Once the non-teaser trailers and regular update videos start coming in, I dunno if I want to watch them. In a way, it would be great to see the progress, but on the other hand, I hate spoilers. :p

Having looked at all the teaser stuff for ANHR, I think that Ady will be able to keep some of the changes a surprise.

No, in Jedi the cockpit shots were filmed at closer range so you couldn't see out of the cockpits rear windows most of the time, plus i don't have to add that bloody middle strut to every Falcon cockpit window scene ever again.

LOL
