does anyone have any time to do 'a making of: star wars revisited'...

or has it been done? (extras, test footage, etc)..

and i don't mean going back through this thread, and checking
every page for developments and chronicling them..

i mean like an interview, with footage of how it was made
etc....yes, even if it means interviewing adywan only
to get his thoughts on it...

after seeing all the work that went into it, it would
be nice to preserve the effort that went into making it also..

I think they tried, but Ady doesn't like the sound of his own voice so it makes him recording himself difficult. I'd love to see something like that, but I'm sure a lot of the test footage and such would have been lost in one of the two or three hard drive crashes.

Alternate idea - instead of showing DSII at the end of Empire, just imply that that's where the fleet is headed after the Falcon escapes them at Bespin.

Falcon goes to hyperspace.
Vader pondering what just happened.

Vader (walking down the length of the bridge): "Admiral Piett, set your course for the Endor system."
Piett (as Vader crosses in front of him): "Yes, Lord Vader."

Fleet goes to hyperspace.
Continue with ending of film as it exists.

If the timing is right, you won't even have to worry about lip sync. With Vader, it's just a matter of pacing for how fast he walks vs how fast the line is, and with Piett, it's a short enough line that he should be able to get it off during that second or so that Vader's cape blocks our view of him.

We don't need to see DSII. For the people who know what happens at the opening of Jedi, this scene is an easter egg. For people who don't know (kids of the future), it will give them something to reference back to when they do see Jedi... "Ah, so THAT'S why the fleet went to Endor at the end of Empire!"

This way, the implication is that DSII has been under construction for a while and going there is just a matter of "getting on with business".

Not a bad idea, but how are we going to get James Earl Jones and Kenneth Colley to film this for us? ;-)

I know what you're describing, but I think that scene ends best when Piett is just waiting to be choked and Vader just walks right past him silently.

But will you remove the Death Star under construction from RotS, or that thinking way too far ahead?

I like the idea for RotJ's opening. I always thought it was weird that Vader comes from a regular Star Destroyer. You could use the shuttle leaving Bespin in ESB (cut from your version) as the shot of it leaving the SSD. Then maybe you can use the shuttle dropping from the opening for Needa's shuttle in ESB!

...Could this become the new 'flipper debate'?

I missed the Flipper Debate of 07 (and I still don't know what side I would have been on), so I'm all for this one. But then again the arm had to be changed, it was just a matter of what to change it to. The DSII doesn't have to even be hinted at in ESB.

I keep going back and forth. It'd be really neat, but completely unnecessary. I guess what really sells me on the idea now is cutting it out of the ending of RotS. After spending 20 years on building a smaller Death Star, there is still no way that they would have learned enough from building it that they would be able to build an even bigger badder one in 1/4 the time. Maybe I'm more for the idea of taking the DS construction out of RotS than I am of adding it to the post-credits of ESB...

i like all of the changes i have seen these movies in the theater back in 1977-1983 i think he made the movies just that much better by adding to them the only thing that i find funny is in the dvd version of the empire strikes back darth vader says "thats it thats the system and im sure skywalker is with them" but when he is talking the the the emperor he says im sure that the young rebel that destroyed the death star is the offspring of anakin skywalker and darth vader says how is that possible you would think that they would have cought that mistake other then that i love every thing he's done to the movies i am a die hard star wars fan i was ever since 7 years old thats when i seen the first star wars in the theater in 1977 i dont know why people bit-- so much about what he has done to the movies i think it makes them that much better just my 2 cents.

That is the longest sentence I've read in a long time.

That's partly my problem too. I don't think the Walmart has any and Staples has maybe one kind, and charges an arm and a leg for them. (they were 2 for $12 at one point!)

I've had to explain to my wife several times already why I can't just use the 30 blank DVDs I have or the hundreds they have at Walmart. I also have to explain why the version of Revisited I already have and made a dozen copies of isn't good enough anymore. I have to say that the one I have isn't the final draft, and this is the LAST ONE. I'll still burn the DVD-5 for other people since I have so many blanks, but I want at least one DVD-9 Ultimate Final Edition Director's Cut.

I'm probably gonna sound like a moocher, 'cause I don't know how to PIF, but could someone mail me a copy of the DVD-9 with Adywan's exquisite DVD artwork and disc-art once it's released? I don't have a DVD burner on my computer, nor do I personally know anyone who does. That's the only reason I'm not doing this myself.

If someone says yes, you get to know my address!

PS: I live in the US. That should narrow it down a little.

Passing (or Paying) It Forward is the meaning of PIF. You might be able to work out a deal with another forum member, but you can't be part of a PIF chain without a DVD burner.

Personally, I'm having problems finding a DVD-9. I've got a burner here at work I can borrow, but my small town Walmart doesn't have anything besides DVD-5s. I have plenty of time before the NTSC ISO goes live though, so I'm not worried. I'll tear this town apart until I have that dual layer disc!

I favor a post-credits shot of the DSII, but only if it's done in a very minimalist manner.

What I have in mind is:
1. The credits and music end.
2. In silence, the starfield slowly pans to the right.
3. As the camera continues to pan to the right, we reveal first the Executor, the rest of the imperial fleet, the edge of Endor, and finally the DSII above Endor.
4. Fade to black.

Nice.

I'm not really fussed about the inclusion of the scene in ESB — but I do think it makes much more sense here than in ROTS and would like to see it cut from ROTS when it comes to that.

Good point about the time frame thing, unless they started building both DSs at the same time. And there should be a tease about a new DS when we know what it is. If someone watched them in order, he probably wouldn't remember the "plans" scene from a movie before to know what Vader and Tarkin are looking at in RotS.

Ady could either cut out the DS from RotS and put it in space, or remove Tarkin and use the whole scene from RotS.

I keep flip-flopping back and forth on this issue. I hope that Ady brings his cool head in here and tell us what he thinks so we can just stop the debate.

I am agreeing that a death star II appearance would be intrusive in the film, or at the least needlessly distracting, but i do have an idea:

earlier in the film, ie when the super star destroyer is first seen, endor could be viewed in the background, but WITHOUT the DSII. this would hopefully allow the viewer to subconsciously be familiar with the moon.

the film could progress as usual and then eventually end, then after the credits as a bonus (though it may seem painfully cliche) we could see the imperial fleet drifting around endor, like earlier in the film, then slowly pan left to distantly reveal a very de-constructed DSII.

I like, no love the idea of having them in orbit around Endor looking for the Rebels, with no Death Star visible. I also like the post credits idea. After all the music is done, just show the fleet and pan over to the Death Star shell from Ep3, maybe with just the soft version of the Imperial March playing very quietly in the background, like they are building the March as well. That way, if people don't like it, they can just stop watching before they get there! It also goes around my rule of "No DSII in ESB" since ESB is over by that point.

Don't beat me up, Im scarred!

No really, Im easily confused, I know about your explanations but I hardly know what PAL means. I just know that go to some website and something about sending and seeding and I have it!

What is the Exact Website. I Know what your thinking "Like talking to Wall"

PAL is the standard format for videos in the UK. Apparently it has higher quality, but runs faster, which is strange to me.

Anyway, there is no exact website. It's going up on a newsgroup, which is like the "sending and seeding" you mentioned, but taken care of by your internet service provider, so it costs money. Just take a look at any of the links we posted already.

If you're looking for the easy way (torrents), then you have to wait a while. That's what I'm planning on doing.

quick question: Will the DVD 9 the Adywan is uploading(and where) have all the menues and deleted stuff if you put it on a disk.

I'm not sure what you're asking. But yes, the DVD will have all of the things the DVD should have on it. He's uploading the disc image, which you burn to a DVD and it acts like a regular movie DVD.

Have you checked out giganews or similar?

I am made of patience, so I can wait for Rapidshare or torrents.
