Well, sadly, after looking up what the glasses look like on google image search, I'm concluding that the "free Hanna Montana 3d glasses" are polarized lenses (in black plastic "Harry Caray" style frames), not the familiar red & blue that would let you view the Jabba images.

Random kids wearing them:

Vs:

Try here instead: http://www.rainbowsymphonystore.com/3dglasses.html

or here: http://www.studio3d.com/pages2/store_glasses.html

I once though it would be easier to just make my own, but it seems like obtaining the right colors of cellophane and cardboard (or cheap sunglasses and plastic) is just as much bother to obtain as the glasses themselves.

I know what you're talking about, those are the 3D glasses for the Disney 3D digital theater release.  The one advertised at Wal-Mart is the Disney Channel version of the concert, which was re-rendered for red/blue glasses, so that's what they're giving away.  They still had a few hundred if anyone lives in south central Indiana...  I tried out the Jabba scene and you really had to squint, but sure enough Jabba and Han kind of poked out of the frame a bit.  It's not much, but when it's just one guy doing it for the heck of it, it's pretty awesome.

I really need to suggest that someone 3D the scenes from Jaws 3-D as a fan edit...

I have seen the coat first hand at Celebration IV, and it is 100% brown.

Yeah, it's not like LucasFilm would ever display something that was inaccurate or in any way re-created.

*eye roll*

maybe there should be an originaltrilogy task force armed with a crowbar and some blue spray cans to correct this possible inacurasy...

That's what we need, a task force!  "Fixing Lucas' oversights: THE HARD WAY"

I've been looking for red/blue 3D glasses since the DVD-9 came out so I could see the Jabba scene in its new 3D glory, but I really didn't want to have to buy some 3D coloring book or something in order to get one.  So I was at Wal-Mart the other day and I saw a huge display for Hannah Montana's new 3D DVD.  I ignored it until we were in the checkout line when I noticed the word "FREE."  On top of this display rack were hundreds of red/blue 3D glasses, free for the taking.  I ended up taking 4, just in case I have a party and want everyone to see it.

Yeah, you'd look stupid with Hannah Montanta star-shaped 3D glasses, but they're free!  Check your Wal-Marts, or wherever crappy Hannah Montana stuff is sold.

Look at these two shots! I just noticed that the same plate shot was used with and without the generator in two different shots just a few seconds apart!

I'm surprised that the Imperials managed to find the shield generator since the background its next to changes EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU SEE IT.  In front of a mountain, no where near a mountain, with a turret next to it, all alone on a plain...

And I'm not sure how much HD shots from the movie will help Ady since he has the HD copies of the movie already...

I had so many Madines and no Obi-Wan that my mom painted one of their beards white and made him in a robe!  The likeness was just as "good."  That was until we found an Obi-Wan complete with his vinal cape.  I have no idea how, since I can remember not having Obi-Wan so that had to have been the very late 80's...

We are so far off topic it blows my mind.

To bring us back, ImperialFighter is having problems writing and sending me the huge emails required to finish up our mockups, so you'll all just have to wait a bit longer.

ok this is more ROTJ related, but was just surfing on wookiepedia and i found this:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Scenes_cut_from_Star_Wars

"Endor Battle - General Crix Madine was to have scenes aboard a Mon Calamari ship during the final battle. These scenes were filmed. Actor Dermot Crowley claims to have spent a few extra days filming in a moving chair shouting things such as "Fire!". There are cut shots of rebel gunners aboard the Millennium Falcon. It was rumored that the B-Wing fighters would be given more to do during the battle in the Special Editions. These scenes have apparently been held back for a future release."

anyone know what evil uncle george is plotting?

in the event of released secret footage of any of these films, would ady ever consider a star wars re-revisited?

is george actually palpatine?

It's a wiki, I wouldn't trust statements like that.  I would, however, love to see these scenes because I have SO MANY Madine figures who have nothing to do currently...

Was that Leia???  The one coming down the ramp with R2 and the one sitting next to Bail Organa.  If so, that is the only reason I'd want to play this ridiculous game.  However, I can always watch the cut scenes later on Youtube.  Anybody else notice how plain awful Vader sounds?  Geez, I've heard much better in other games.  But seriously, WAS that Leia???

Vader is voiced by the guy who plays "Chad Vader" in the popular online parody series.  He's not the best, but I've heard much much worse.  As for that being Leia, it very well could be.  If Vader finds his apprentice as a baby in the first level and he's that old in the rest of the game, then Leia would also be pretty old...

But enough about that.

That is so cool, 005! I just wish I knew when it was on. They don't mark it as Star Trek Remastered on my channel guide. I've only seen the new effects once while casually browsing.

Yeah, my DVR labels it as a repeat of Star Trek.  It's usually on late Saturday nights and is the first thing preempted when anything happens.  It's usually syndicated to CW's or MyNetworkTV's depending on where you live.  In the US, now that I think about it.  Not sure of foreign showings.

I know it seems like blasphemy to mention it here, but this weekend's episode of Star Trek: The Original Series: Remastered is "The Cloud Minders", where the Enterprise visits a city in the clouds.  TrekMovie.com posted a preview image that looks very familiar.

There is so much attention to detail in this, as each building perfectly matches the original painting:

Ady has a big enough workload with this project alone, without getting side tracked about talk of two or three other projects on from here, that he may, or may not even be bothered to do in the end.

Just help him to focus on making the best he can do with what hes got.

Whoa, scrub that comment. Sounds like you may NOT have enough work to be getting on with at this pace!

How about a possible release date then ;-)

Darth Solo wins the prize for being the first to ask for a release date!  Let's hear it for him!

I think we've talked about the "sith eyes" before and decided it was a bad idea.  I think that if Sith get crazy eyes when they do evil things, why don't Jedi get some kind of physical representation of their goodness if they do something good, like help an old lady across the street?

doh! I encountered another problem. Since its actually my sister's computer that has the burner, I tried to put the revisited.iso file onto a usb-drive but it just won't work. It keeps claiming that the disk is full even though I've checked the numbers and there should be almost half the space left. That should be plenty of room, so I'm a bit lost on this one. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

USB drives are usually formatted in FAT32, which can only handle 4 GB files maximum.  I had the same problem.

Oh, and just to make sure, you are making all of the Star Destroyer "exhaust" blue, right? I noticed a shot in RotJ that has both blue and yellow on seperate Destroyers, with most of the Empire ones just having white "exhaust." Also, what kind of consistency can be brought to the fact that most of the time in ESB only the three main engines are lit... I know you talked about doing the Falcon's, just making sure the Star Destroyers were included in that consistency check.

yeh the stardestroyers engines will be blue and as for the engines, i never noticed that only 3 are lit. not sure what to do there. I'll have to have a god think about that

I'm thinking that maybe when a Star Destroyer is at rest or in orbit it only need's 3 engines and it only needs all 7 when chasing Blockade Runners and Falcons.  That could save you a lot of work.

A replacement for the titles
Time

I read that you were thinking about replacing the "Padawan Learner", "Ready for the Trials", etc titles from next to our names.  I had a suggestion for a possible replacement that I mentioned on the Empire Strikes Back Revisited thread:

I think that the area next to our names that currently have our "ranking" that they're considering getting rid of should be replaced with things like "Purist" (original versions or death), "Revisionist" (changes/prequels aren't bad, but need tweaked), "Lucas Fanboy" (Lucas knows whats best), or others things we could choose in our profile.  That way you'd know who you're dealing with without them harping on it.

It's not the best of ideas, but who knows what people will write if given free reign to their title?

EDIT: It was pointed out that "Lucas Apologists" might be a better term for the last one.

Sounds good, Ady.  I don't hate the prequels as much as most around here, but it is a huge stretch to call them "great movies."

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

I was digging through T-bon'e Star Wars Universe and was just reading his review of the 2004 DVDs.  He never mentions the bad colors (he believed they were deliberate changes), but I did find this part very interesting:

Right before the DVDs were released, I received a message from a friend who’s in the industry asking if I’ve seen the bad rendering of R2-D2 in Episode V. I really didn’t have any idea what he meant but he sent me a few pictures to compare the shots. I did and to be frank, I don’t really see anything all that upsetting. He seemed to be really upset about the big eye in particular.

Here's what he had to say:

What we are seeing here, is what appears to be a horrible re-rendering job of R2-D2. What I mean by this, is that they took the actual R2-D2 from the scene (that didn't have any 'blue' in it because it would have disappeared into the blue screen effects work) and placed CGI rendered 'blue pieces' over the originals to change the color of him from black to blue. What has incompetently occurred here is two serious flaws.

The first is the obvious poor rendering of R2's 'EYE' (the view port in the head that Kenny Baker could see out of) that is the square-ish panel on the front with a rounded lens in the center of it. What you will see, is how this horribly rendered replacement view port recreates R2's lens in an absolutely ridiculous and flawed way. Instead of being the right size, it is roughly 35% smaller and has the extra space around the lens made up with blue coloring. Just do a quick comparison between R2 in ANY other shot in the saga and you will see how HORRIBLE this looks and how poorly executed this change was.

Secondly, you will also notice in the same shot, that the side blue panels on R2 now also have an overlay of 'blue' to cover the original 'black' panels. These are just below the 'eye' and go around his head. The problem here is that by the end of the shot, R2 is moving his head back and forth, but the blue overlays move at a different speed to the rest of his head! So instead of a quick fine tuning that the effects element and rendering could have had, they sloppily just threw this overlay on, and didn't make any effort to perfect this effects shot.

In general, this is a horrible rendering job, and another embarrassment that no filmmaker should ever let get out. This DVD set was rushed, and the flaws of the rush are evident; especially the incompetent and inconsistent sound mix on A New Hope including the reversed music channels in the surrounds.

After looking at it for a while, I do see what he means but since my eye wasn’t looking for it, I didn’t notice it. The dark inset part of the eye is a bit small. Click on the image to the right for a nice comparison of all three versions of the shot in question. The top shot is from the new DVD set, the bottom left is from the original release (note the black panels on R2), and the bottom right is the 1997 Special Edition version. Looking at them all together it does seem they went a little overboard with the blue for the DVD release. Personally, I still don’t think this shot looks that bad but my friend was pretty adamant that it didn’t look so hot so I’d be remiss not to mention it. I mean, this is really nit picky stuff, after all. He’s a good guy and very professional so I’m sure his complaint is valid. I think he’s an R2-D2 fan so of course he’s a little biased. The set may have been rushed but it's OK for a set to hold us over until...whenever.

Here is the comparison:

http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/6541/1395fk3.jpg

I think I've noticed the drift before and this shot has R2's panels way more blue than the others, but CG panels when the 1997 version looks just fine?  What do you think?  Are they CG panels or just a product of the higher resolution?

And to bring it back to the revelency of the thread, how should Ady handle this?
