I think Ady's way is best for his edit (imagine that), but I love seeing all of the different ways it could be done, which is why I suggested GM to do this.  And like Ady said, there are a lot of great ideas for other edits here.  It'll be interesting to see what else we spawn around here.

R2 is a DROID. LOL So you're saying that all beeps and whistles that R2 utters have to be unique? Poor R2 that's a lot of pressure....

I am no particular fan of R2, but it seems like when they reused R2's sounds in the saga, they tended to use ones that 3PO gives a very clear translation of.  I'm not saying it should be fixed, but it bugs me too.  Like when R2 is "yelling" when Yoda is lifting the X-Wing.  It sounds like he's getting shot by Jawas and is about to pass out!

Right. But Yoda looks right at Obi-Wan when he first appears next to him. And why would Obi-Wan stand so far away from Luke and Yoda. Of course, the other question is why did he shrink himself if he wanted to be intimidating to Luke?

Doubleofive, thats something thats always bugged me. Obi-Wan looks so tiny. I'm hoping to make him larger in those shots because,as you can see, Yoda is looking to the side and not behind him, which gives the impression that Obi-Wan is tiny

That's what I'm saying!  Obi-Wan is tiny!  I've always found his close-ups funny in this scene because I'm imagining them zooming in on a tiny Alec Guiness!

After thinking about it, I'm guessing they had him tiny so that they could have this shot:

which is cool, but weird if Obi-Wan is standing 15 feet behind Yoda and impossible if Obi-Wan is just made larger.

I don't know.  If you look at the trunk Yoda is sitting on, Obi-Wan is standing in front of it.

I've always thought Yoda was sitting on that clump of dirt and Obi-Wan was in front of it.  If it is perspective, why is Obi-Wan standing so far away from Luke the whole time?

Earlier I mentioned that Obi-Wan's spirit can shrink and grow at will, for example, when he's next to Yoda as Luke is leaving Dagobah.  Someone said it was a matter of perspective.  I took a screenshot to show my point:

Oh, there's nothing we can use, unless we use shots from Rocky and Karate Kid with Mark Hamill's face pasted over the characters.  I just meant that I wish Kershner had filmed more.

I was just looking through T-bone's cut scenes section yesterday, and he had panels from the comic where Yoda is berating Luke that "a Jedi could have cut this into 7 pieces!" and then he had a picture of a rod cut into 7 pieces, made but never filmed.  I would have loved for there to be more training montage, especially if it was set to "Eye of the Tiger". :-D

After the Rebel Transport makes it past the disabled Star Destroyer, they should jump to hyperspace, in order to truly be "away".

I agree that it does have nice symmetry, and it would work well, if not for the earlier reveal that Vader is already “obsessed” with Luke. In fact, if you think it about it too hard (which we all clearly have) it starts to seem like the evil Emperor, who meticulously plotted his rise to power, started an intergalactic war to help him along and even (possibly) manipulated the Force into conceiving his own apprentice, has clearly lost a step or two if it takes him three years to find out who blew up his big 20-year long construction project a couple days after it was finished!

So Ady, did you ever consider recoloring the TIEs in ANH blue for better consistency?  And Ripplin's most recent Executor is now the definitive version.

Yeah, talk about space.  Thankfully, I had just found an extra hard drive in someone's computer as I was fixing it, and she said I could have it.  My wife hasn't even noticed that I have a copy of every version of ANHR. :-)

As much as people may pretend the prequels never happened, the added lines do support the assumption that Vader did not know what had happened to his child(ren). With the old lines, it appears he already knows Luke is his son. I mean, it's up to Ady, but IMO the newer ones are one of the SE changes I agree with.

The thing is, if Vader is running around the galaxy saying "The Rebels are there, and I'm sure Skywalker is with them!" and the opening crawl saying how obsessed he is with finding young Skywalker, I'm pretty sure that unless he forgot his old last name, he knows that Luke is his son.  In the original version, it could be interpreted that the Emperor is just upgrading Luke's threat level, while in the new one he's basically telling Vader that Luke exists, when it's obvious that Vader knows already.

The same thing happened to me, but if you put the < br > inbetween the lines it will add the line breaks as needed.

GoodMusician, using your powers of audio editing, any chance you could give us a re-edit of Ian McDiarmid saying most of the original lines from Clive Revill's performance?

Ady already has 1080p copies of the 2004 version, I assume from the cable/satellite rips.  The last few shots of ANH and all of ESB have been done using these copies.

If a break for Ady means a 720p version of ESB (which is as high as my HDTV goes anyway), then I'm all for it.  1. It's a break, which he needs and 2. It'll be better for everyone in the long run.  Even if you say you can't tell the difference between DVD and HD signal, I believe that if you looked hard enough you'd be able to tell.  Besides, mastering in higher than DVD resolution just means higher quality DVDs as well.  On a whim this morning I plugged my flash drive into my Xbox 360 to see if it could play yesterday's preview: flawless.  I watched the first few minutes of ESB in the highest quality I've ever seen it at home and I crave more.

Ady, thank you for your hard work and dedication to this project.  I hope that you'll stick around and give us your opinions during the break.  You know, stop some of the arguments before they start.  Of course, if you read some of our suggestions, you'll probably end up tinkering with it, then it wouldn't be much of a break now would it? ;-)

EDIT: Ady, you said that you're only correcting the color on the opening crawls.  So you're not recreating them from scratch?  Why not, too hard to get it just right?
