In ImperialFighter's patented bolding important things way, here is what he means:

to tie it in better with when we see it in the 'ice cave' scene.  However, I see that there is a bit of doubt over them so far.  As this is one of touches that I personally hoped to see included, I'd like to offer a last suggestion on this aspect -  Firstly, as we have seen these shots so many times over the years, every addition is going to pop out at first.  However, I always wished that the various 'looks' of the Wampa had been more uniform overall.  As far as your added 'horns' on this preview go, I think you could amend them a little, so that they are even better.  What I think could improve them, is if you did the more rounded, more tapered, and more 'gnarly' ones that seem to start quite thickly, higher up on the sides of the Wampa's head, that were seen on the SE suit version.

 

 

The ones that you presently have, reminded me immediately of the shape of the 2nd 'original' Wampa suit, as seen 'lunging' at Luke, just before he cuts it's arm off.

 

 

I always thought that was the least- successful looking version of the suit, and the horns, along with it's 'sticking up' ears....  I see that in the initial reveal of the Wampa, that you have indeed added the other ear, so that it protrudes noticeably, just like the 2nd 'original' suit....but I think this is not as good a look as where we see LESS of the ears in the 1st 'original' suit, and that they look better half-glimpsed, and closer to the fur....as seen even in the SE version of the suit.

I think that since you're probably cutting out the SE suit, it's better that it matched the "2nd 'original' suit" (actually the only original suit since the first is a puppet) if anything.  Seeing the horns at full speed on YouTube looked good, but I'm not sure how it looks at full 1080p.

Again, I think its fine if they were different wampas of perhaps even different sexes.  Like the female hunts while the male eats at home, like lions, but the horn differences more like the difference between cows and bulls.

It's a shame that a edit can't be done (presumably because of the soundtrack cues) so that the impact that Luke notices is actually the Probe droid landing (which he assumes is just another meteorite).

Probe enters the atmosphere Luke sees impact but gets attacked by Wampa, Probe rises out of crater, would be my prefered order but that's a lot of work for very little story flow.

I've always figured that Luke is watching the probe droid land, even from childhood.  I mean, they both have the exact same plume of smoke that shoots out, just from another angle (which Adywan's flipping shows is actually the same angle).  The editing you mentioned would be cool and I wish we could do something like that, but it wouldn't really work with the movie starting following the probe headed for Hoth.  I think Luke seeing the probe is what they intended, not just a "meteor".

My problem now is that the General mentions all the meteor activity, but we never see any meteors, just one probe droid twice!  I think I mentioned it before, but it'd be cool to have some meteors falling in some of the scenes outside, and maybe adding a few in space headed towards the planet.

change 2 looked really shopped in that video. I guess HD is a lot less forgiving! Of course, it's still in early development as well.

actually thats the best i'm going to get it at the moment. trying to find horns to match the wampa is hard enough but to get them in HD res then thats the killer.i ahven't got a clue whwre i'd find some horns to match or come even close. i had to use a mixture of wampa & taun taun to do those shots.  then tracking those shots...man thats tough. if you think it looks crap then if i can't get it any better then i'll just have to drop it. This is the big hurdle i have to face now i'm working in HD. its a whole new ball game.

I've heard ideas given that the wampa that brought Luke to the cave is a different one that tried to stop him from escaping.  Perhaps even different sexes, like the female would have small tusks from the side of the mouth while the males have horns that come from the top of its head, or vice versa.  Honestly, I would just scrap it, though the tracking looked really good at the half speed I watched it at!  I'd hate to lose all that work I'm sure you did, but it may be for the best.

Besides "TEMP" no longer being written on the macrobinocular readout and the video of it flipped to match, there isn't anything else I noticed except some better color in a few places.

This Dagobah discussion brings up a question I had looking at all these screenshots for ImperialFighter.

Are there any plans to bring some more color to Bespin?  I mean besides better color balance.  It just looks so much like every other planet in this movie.

As for Dagobah, maybe you could put some cloud cover on the E3 one?  That would keep the two planets from looking so much alike.  I don't know, there's just so many CLOUDS in this movie...

Basically, it comes down to Temura Morrison's Boba voice was literally phoned in, and he just didn't have the same emotion for the lines.  So Ady's logic is who's to say that clones sound exactly like their "parent" or that Boba's and Jango's helmets maybe have a voice modulater built in.  The plan is to redo the voice of JANGO in the prequels to better match the OT, as it should have been in the beginning.

I just compared the new mkv (which I had to run at half speed on my poor laptop) with last month's 720p, and I think I found a few differences.  I'm not sure I want to put them up here, just yet, to let others have the joy of finding them.

I'd like to think ImperialFighter and I already helped out with one of the changes, and another is very subtle, but I love it.  It's so hard to be vague!

-1, can you stream it straight to your 360 or do I have to convert it first?

My HDTV and 360 will soon explode with delight!

And hopefully ImperialFighter will get our project up this weekend, and we'll have plenty to talk about in the next week.

As far as the two falls go, I swear I heard Batman activate something (his wing thing maybe?) during his fall with Rachel that at least slowed them down.  That's why he was able to get under her and provide some cushion when they hit.  Otherwise I'd agree with you.

His cape flares out just before they hit.  I'm not sure if that's enough to slow them down or not.  He's also wearing the new suit, so that may have helped a bit.  I'm willing to suspend some belief, especially since Mythbusters showed that just about every gadget Batman has is a little on the "fantastic" side.

 

It does not canopy or do anything significant to slow them and even if there was a slight flare just before they hit that would do absolutlty nothing. Even when a parachute opens and slows a person down if there is a failure and their is partial canopy in which to slow the person the force at which they hit is often devastating. And falling onto a car is no help, falling into water from ~ 100 feet is like hitting concrete. And I think most people, including kids, realized that everything about Batman is on the "fantastic" side. However, the point is still that he does not act like Batman in this movie and the movie does a poor job of injecting "reality" into the Batman world. The fact still stands, he falls from 20+ stories in his suit and is fine, he falls ~5 stories in his suit and can barely get up.

The thing is that SW:SE it tried to change the story in tiny ways: Greedo shooting first, Jabba meeting Han and repeating what Greedo just said, Hayden at the end of RotJ.  Things were added to make it better fit with movies that came later.

ST:Remastered never tried to add things from any of the shows that occurred after it or before it.  One alien ship is reminiscent of the Enterprise version, but there aren't added references on the walls to Captain Archer or Phlox.  It still stands alone as "The Original Series", not part of a larger saga.

I know you didn't want a seperate one for them, and I'd suggested to doubleofive that we ask yourself and GoodMusician if we could perhaps put it at the end of his related Adywan's 'Empire' edit:SUMMARY CONTROL one, where the ideas are gathered in an at-a-glance manner.   Basically, because we wouldn't have been restricted with the screenshot sizes we then chose.  There are indeed 63 shots in total, but we have a compromise in sizes ready for this main thread if you still wish it on here.  We would show the 'mock-ups' at a certain moderate size, and the 'unaltered' ones would be done in a smaller 'thumbnail' manner.  This is still okay to show what I intended, and won't take long to scroll down past at the end of the day.

Thanks for offering to put a link to them on your first page, but that isn't really necessary, as it is really just something showing some ideas that you may or may not like, for you to consider along the way.  If we were indicated to put them on a seperate thread or GoodMusicians, we were just going to indicate on here where they were, so that everyone else could go to have a look too, if interested.  I can't wait to see what you end up putting in these 'mocked-up' areas yourself (if anything at all!), but it's just to show a couple of possibilities that don't need extensive, complicated work (easy for me to say!) for you to mull over.

Either way, the whole thing is very nearly ready, and I will make time to add the comments (or give them to doubleofive to also include for me) very soon, for you and others to have a look at.

If you can post the screenshots in here then that would be best then we can use GoodMusicans thread to remain as text based which will make things easier. Don't worry about the screenshot sizes. just post them whichever size you were going to post them

I have the forum code ready and everything uploaded to Photobucket (which I've not used before, I hope everyone can see them).  I also sent the code to Imperial Fighter, so either way we're going to try to combine them together the best we can.  He may have forgotten some things, but we could just edit the main posts.

I too, can't wait to see what you do with these suggestions, because we worked hard on these, mostly because we tried doing it pretty unorganized through random emails.  If there is a next time (which there might be!), we're going to plan this out much better, streamline it a bit.  If you're interested, of course.

I hope these live up to the hype ImpFight and I are making...

I'll add a teaser, some unaltered shots to test Photobucket for everyone.

I think that there's not enough noticable difference in 720p to 480i to make that worth it if you just go by that screenshot, but the difference between the 1080p and the 480i is pretty awesome.

My vote is, YES for 1080p!  It's as close as we can get to "future proofing" this edit for future generations!  Future generations who deserve to see every thread in Ozzel's hat!

I have 63 screenshots of varying sizes of particular sequences from the film.  Then ImperialFighter, to save space, will just comment saying "Shot 7 is where blah blah blah" so if they get separated it could be very confusing.

Ady didn't want to take over the forums with yet ANOTHER Revisited thread, so we're trying to intregrate them into the ones we already have.

Alright, ImperialFighter and I are in our final stages here, and hopefully IF can approve the final tweaks and we can get this posted this afternoon (tonight for those in the UK).  We were still pondering ideas on how best to post this.  I could post them all on here in 4 or 5 parts, then ImperialFighter would comment on them and you'd have to flip back and forth if they were separated.  Or we could take over GoodMusician's Suggestion thread for a bit and just have my pictures and ImperialFighter's commentary over there, with the discussion continuing over here.  Whatever is best for Ady, of course.

As long as you own the components that comprise the edit (namely, the 2004 DVD) then technically the download is not illegal.  Or so I've been told.
