STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

So, I've been keeping an archive of all of the ESBR previews on my thumb drive, but I started keeping them too late to have the original teaser or the date of release for the revised version with the new Emperor. Can anyone help with finding the original teaser, when it was released, and when the revised version was?

Thanks.

Going a bit off topic here but i was watching ROTJ in HD tonight and i had always though that the Coruscant footage was people celebrating and pulling down the statue. i always though where the hell are the imperials and that the celebrations were too soon. But i was wrong. Upon closer inspection the crowd at the front aren't celebrating at all but are in fact a mob crowd attacking a stormtrooper. Ben Burtt totally screwed up the sound FX on this one. Should have been the sound of an angry mob and not a celebration.

Well, according to all visual and audio evidence they ARE celebrating. The stormtrooper is obviously happy that he doesn't have to take orders from the Empire and is crowdsurfing in celebration.

I hope you can feel my sarcasm from there in England.

Apparently everyone else on this board can feel it much easier since it seems that my southern Indiana position puts them in prime range of my sarcasm bomb.

I just started listening to the radio interview and now I know how to pronounce "Adywan". Its more like "81" than "Add eee wan", which I still sounded out in my head when I just typed it. I'll have to retrain my brain. When I speak out loud about Revisited, I usually just call him "The Fan Editor". :-)

ok here's whats changed:

Luke speeder now has the dark grey panels on the snowspeeder in the hangar to match the model
More At-AT's
Added some troopers firing in the trenches
Added the gun turrets firing with added recoiling motion
New lasers
Removed the red cockpit from the lead AT-AT
New binocular viewscreen to match Lukes seen earlier in movie
Added red panels to snowspeeders in hangar
Added more speeders as they approach the battle to match the following shot

That's a lot of work for one minute of film. And that doesn't include the color correction. I love it.

I hope you're keeping track of the changes for the ESBR Visual Comparison.

It might be confusing if they weren't constantly referring to what planets they were headed to, or if they had three different groups on all three planets at the same time and the planet was the establishing shot used. But everyone is on Hoth, Luke is on Dagobah while Han and Leia go to Bespin, and all of the establishing shots are of Yoda's Hut or Cloud City, so I think it's safe. I feel that Ady's Dagobah is a nice shade currently, and definately better than the blue every single thing in the 2004 DVD is.

Awesome work there Ady. But what are those white dots out the window of the X-Wing? I've never seen them before.

Oh wait, stars. In Star Wars. Imagine that!

But seriously, I like the new stars and atmosphere tweaks. And R2 being a shade of blue that doesn't look like he's glowing from some internal light source.

TFN was my first board. I got completely spoiled on Episode II there. I remember some dumb arguments, and I was eventually persuaded to ignore the EU as canon through their efforts to convince me to accept it. Sad that not even really even defending your edit caused bannination. I wish I still posted there so I could leave in protest...

I just finished watching Building Empire on YouTube, and I have to say that the work put into it is incredible. I can't appreciate it enough. So many alternate takes, audio changes, and insights... I can't wait to watch Returning to Jedi! Thanks for not only taking the time to make it, but taking the time to post it somewhere where we can enjoy it without hours of downloading.

I'll probably download it anyway. :-D

As much as I love Adywan's versions, I know I still enjoy watching the OUT (even if Lucas doesn't want me to!)...and I would certainly hope everyone here could say that. ;)

Sadly, the OUT isn't a part of the "Official Saga", so the "Official Saga" can still die. :-D

I use my iPod Touch a lot at home and can read the site just fine using the web browser. But when I click to type in a text box, nothing happens. It just flashes like its going to zoom and let me type, but it doesn't.

Not sure how you could test that if you didn't have one, but I wouldn't hurry as it seems no one else has a problem with it, and it does keep me from spending all of my time here. :-)

Well what i consider canon is what is in the OUT movies. those are what the canon for the PT should based upon and not the other way around. Influences from books, spin-off TV shows and movies just won't have any bearing on the Revisited edits. Just because GL has something to do with a show or movie doesn't mean that it should have anything to do with the Revisited canon. If i were to include the clone wars then shouldn't i also include the holiday special & Ewok movies. does that mean that the Ewoks should speak now? Too many things are now contradicting the OT but not in my edits.

Awesome to hear. The more I think about it, the more I really don't care for trying to fit the EU in the Saga. There are some good stories and I'll reference them for that.

When i first planned on doing the saga i wanted to bring the saga together as a whole and not have the PT ruin many of the surprises in the OT, namely Leia being Lukes sister and Vader being Lukes father. I want them to be able to be watched in chronological order. So in ROTS you will not have Anakin named as Vader or even see him don the costume. The last we see of Anakin is being led away in the life support chamber after it leaves the shuttle. Leia will not be named either. Palpatine has Maul, Dooku & Grievous in the PT, so when we see Vader in ANH we will just think that he's just another henchman. We will hear mention of Vader in ROTS but not connected to Anakin. And also the problem with Leia remembering her real mother but Padme dies in ROTS will be fixed in the PT, so no changes are needed in ROTJ.

Is it wrong that this paragraph nearly made me stand up and cheer in my cubicle? This is the stuff that really upset me about the prequels, the fact that they reference things that haven't happened and they spoil all of the "surprises" in the OT. It doesn't make any sense if Lucas wanted them to be watched in order. Just another reason why my future children will only know The Revisited Saga.

There will be probably more work done on the PT than in the Revisited OT. I have so many ideas for the PT but a lot of new FX need to be done to achieve this. I'm hoping that a new version of TPM is released before i get to that movie with the new CG Yoda because the abomination that is the PT puppet Yoda just cannot exist in my edit. I'm even thinking of building my own mechanical puppet Yoda to replace the one in that movie. I know i can do it. I'm going to have to get myself a HD video camera to achieve most of wehat i want to do with not only the PT, but some work on ESB & ROTJ. The reason i dropped the idea of using models for some new FX work was only down to the fact that my video camera is just complete crap in quality, but having tested a couple of the £400 1080p HD cameras this is now once again a very strong possibility. It's going to cost me a fortune to do all this but its probably the only way i can do the versions i really want to do.

That's dedication. I'm glad that you never plan on doing anything half-assed, but plan for the absolute best, even if it takes time and money. Building your own Yoda would be an incredible undertaking. If you start making models and filming them, we're going to need your wife or one of your kids to do some behind-the-scenes video stuff. Or I could fly over to England and do it myself...

Now Needa's shuttle won't be a Lambda class shuttle in ESB, but it won't be the box one that exists in the movie now. I'm going to design a new shuttle that is similar design to the Lambda. This will either be built as a physical model or CG depending is i can film it as a real element or not in time. I'm also thinking of then using the same design for the Tydirium in ROTJ and have the Lambda class used only for dignitaries like Vader. The Tydirium is supposed to be transporting cargo and technical crew so why would the be using such an important ship? Vader had his own prototype TIE in ANH and i want him to have his own shuttle in ROTJ.

Cool stuff. Makes sense for Vader and Palpatine to have Lambda shuttles and everyone else to have something a little less fancy. And in the PT, every ship had moving, folding wings that just seem silly for space travel, but I digress. ;-)

I know this has been beaten to death, but wouldn't it be easier just to remove the horns from the later "inside the cave" shot
and have the wampa keep the 1st image appearance? Those horns just don't work!

Removing the horns from the later Wampa is not something i want to do. The wampa has always had horns and to me it should do. The horns in the clip you posted screenshots from was in HD and therefore hard to use an SD image to look any good at that res. It was also only a WIP. I might even build a new Wampa head for those shots anyway. It might be easier. lol

I think the horns will work in SD since you'll have more sources available. But a Wampa head would also be awesome. Is there anything you can't do? Or aren't willing to try?

Every time I think I couldn't be more excited about this project, you drop in and make me more excited.

now considering that each SD is one mile, that makes the Executor a whopping 12 miles long! Could you imagine being in the nose and having an important message for Vader? You know, I'm surprised Mel Brooks didn't do something like that in SPACEBALLS....

They did make fun of the size of the ship in SPACEBALLS - several times. [I'm not sure if you were serious]

Well yeah ("We Break For Nobody!"), but I was saying having a scene with someone having to run the whole length of the ship just to get Dark Helmet a diet coke or something. With the MOD SQUAD theme playing. The Whole 5 minutes. Just for Dark Helmet to smack him upside the head and say "You asshole! I wanted a Pepsi!"

Skroob does run in at some point because it would have taken "forever" if he had walked. But your idea is pretty good.

Monroville, X-Wing Mechanic, back on page 108 ImperialFighter went through pretty much every space shot in the movie doing exactly what you're suggesting already (adding to the blockade), with alternate versions and suggestions. It's a bit much, I should know, I did the adjustments!

Here is one of our takes on the shuttle:

ImperialFighter did the timing and figured that unless the unfolding process was greatly sped up, it would have to be unfolded at the beginning of the shot.

Don't worry, Adyway has seen all this, and has taken them into consideration.

Seems like it would be a lot of trouble to go to. Sure, the reflections were cool in the PT because they had the ability to do it, but it's not something that ever bothered me about the OT. I found it was the shadows cast that stood out more.

This, this, this. Something made of light or plasma or whatever shouldn't cast a shadow. The biggest offender in my book is in RotJ when Vader is walking up the Emperor's stairs towards Luke before he was unwise to lower his defences. Vader has the saber in front of him, then swings it out to the side, and it casts a stick shadow on the ground. Also when Vader and Luke are having their final swings towards The Pit its pretty bad. I don't recall any in ESB.

Ady, are you planning on eliminating lightsaber shadows when you can?

I was watching ESB on Spike TV last night and saw a couple of things that I did not see on the list (page 1).

1) during the Cloud City battle between Luke and Vader I could not see the blue or red glow from their sabers. Can anyone else?

Which part? I didn't see any missing glows when doing the colour correction. Could you give a timeframe at all or a bit more information?

Ah, I meant to be more descriptive. Sorry.

What I meant to say was that there didn't appear to be any saber glow bouncing off either Luke or Vader during the Cloud City duel.

Ah, as in their lightsabers weren't creating light because they were metal poles on set. Yeah, that would be great, but I don't see how Adywan could create light reflections where there wasn't any on set. I think that's something we'll just have to live without.

Of course, I could be wrong, and Ady has already thought about how to make that work, but it seems impossible to me.

3. I too did not like that Chewie had a medal, simply because it just miraculously appears.

Jason

If you look at that scene closely again you will see i added an extra shot of leia preparing the medal and chewie steps forward in the right hand side of the frame, then we cut to Luke as she gives it chewie. So it doesn't miraculously appear. Its a quick shot so easy to miss on first viewing.

I'll have to double check that.

Do you think it is possible to make Han walk in front of Jabba in the deleted Jabba scene? I really love that scene except for that one thing. However, if you were to ever fix it and put it in; you'd have to put the Han vs. Greedo dialogue back to the original (cut) version where Greedo tells Han to "get up or must I finish this here" and Han replies "I don't think they'd like another killing".

Also, do you have the CD Death Star image without the Star Wars logo and writing? I'd love to use that image in some of my customizing dioramas and such!

Awesome work adywan, can't wait to see Empire!

Jason

Without having a 1976 Harrison Ford to do/say what we want, making Han walk in front of Jabba when the only footage we have is blocked by Jabba's fat CG body would be pretty hard, and having Han say things he we don't have recordings of at all would be impossible.

Adywan has said that he is done with ANHR. If people are able to add thoses scenes back in, that's great, but Ady's not going to be the one to do it. He's too deep into ESB.

Even if the tos fans hate this movie they pretty much have to embrace it. Bring their friends and family to see it multiple times. It is the only way new trek will happen. If this thing Bombs Paramount would be well within its rights to never spend a dime on the series again.

Then so be it. If this turns out to be a terrible Trek, I'd rather see it bomb than see it be successful and watch Trek turn into yet another teeny bopper flick. Trek is better than that. Trek's success should not hinge on whether the "tween" crowd wants to see this or not. It should hinge on it being a good story or not.

Some people would rather Star Trek not exist than be reimagined. That just blows my mind. This isn't Lucas, JJ is not gathering all of the hundreds of hours of Star Trek that existed before and throwing it out. They're trying to get people interested in it again. More people will be willing to take the cheesy little 60's science fiction show we love so well a bit more seriously, maybe focusing on the characters instead of the cliches they came to be.

If this movie is successful, I honestly believe people will give old Trek a chance again, not dilute the franchise or anything so silly. The new movie will not take away your old ones. It looks like an alternate universe/timeline anyway, so anyone can ignore it if they choose to. But some of us are excited to be able to talk with their friends about Star Trek without looking like anti-social outcasts. Star Trek either goes mainstream, or it withers and dies like it has been for years. I'd rather it be mainstream.

But that's just me.

The MPAA took it down. The whole site. You're on your own on finding the rest of the rapidshare links. Someone might have them handy, but there is no easy way anymore.
