Just a last comment on the whole Yoda thing from me. I remember when I first read that a 'younger' Yoda design was going to be making an appearance in the then upcoming 'The Phantom Menace' prequel, thinking this would be a fantastic thing, considering he'd been such a great character. I then remember wondering how he would turn out...and remember coming across this shot of the new Yoda sculpt, which I thought looked rather neat and badass - http://www.dinocafe.com/gaz/Yoda.jpg

Then I eventually saw the version that ended up in the movie...and wondered what the hell happened to the look of the sculpt I'd previously seen! - http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Pines/4928/tpm-yoda4.jpg

At least the follow-up CGI design looks like it could probably age into the original classic look, thankfully.

And Adywan's tweaked Yoda looks to be the best of all. Speaking of 'badass' Yodas, check these out, lol. -

"Darth Yoda" has a goatee, like its from the "Mirror, Mirror" Star Wars universe. That's awesome.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

I seem to always miss the first drafts. I would love the link to the AVI of the first draft Yoda for my personal archive. I'm also still looking for the AVI of the first draft of the teaser trailer.

I just watched the final draft now. And again.

Wow. I love the Yoda puppet. Always have. I think with the subtle tweaks you've added here you're effectively bridging the gap between the puppet and the way-too-emotive CG Yoda. He looks more like he's forming the words now, and I get shivers now when he says "You will be. You will be." as I should have had every time.

I think my final test will be to show my wife to see if she even notices something amiss. She's a Star Wars fan (not sure where that puts us then; fanatics?), so she's seen the originals enough, but I would use her as the judge as how much is too much.

EDIT: Sent my wife the YouTube link at random. She wrote back:

"wow that looks great! it doesnt look tweaked at all, natural. nice!"

So there you go.

As for Yoda's wobbly ears, I also recall them specifically mentioning in the AoftC bonus features that they tried to replicate it in the CG model. So by that logic, its officially not a limitation of the puppet, but a character trait of Yoda.

Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist

I'll restate my opinion of Fett here:

Boba has been hanging out at Jabba's palace just standing there next to Han in Carbonite for no reason really. No more bounty hunting for a year? Sure, he probably got tons of cash for bringing Jabba Han and an art piece all at once (the only thing I liked about Shadows of the Empire was Fett twisting Jabba for more money, and that only in the comics), but why would he stick around and not spend the money, or if he lives for the hunt, you know, hunting?

Every shot before he leaves Jabba's side because he senses Luke is going to try something is an insert shot with no other characters in it except for the SE shot of him hitting on a dancer for absolutely no reason.

The only things he does in the movie (not including the SE) is raise his gun at Boush, nod at her afterwards from the same position, walk up to the deck of the sail barge, fly over, shoot and miss at Luke two or three times, get hit in the jetpack (accidentally), scream (not sounding like either the original Boba voice or Temura Morrison), slam against the side of the sail barge, and roll down into the Sarlacc's mouth.

I think Fett should show up in ESB to do a bounty hunting job, catch Solo, then leave. He did his job, its nothing personal. He doesn't need to stick around, and he definately didn't need to be killed off, especially if Lucas says that he intended to have a shot of Fett crawling back out. The easiest way to have Fett not be a threat in the rest of the movie isn't to kill him, its to not have him in it at all. Maybe have him be a looming threat, because maybe he didn't get paid yet and now wants revenge on Han, or something. Lucas should have thought of that, but he changes his story all the time, I'm sure Fett was meant to be dead in the Sarlacc when he filmed it.

But that's my opinion, of course.

Another RotJ question though:

Sarlacc, with mouth or without? I know it looks kind of like Audrey II, but I honestly think the mouth thing helps with the danger instead of being just a hole with teeth. Did it need to be done? Of course not. Do I think it improves the scene? I think so.

EDIT: I forgot that Boba tries to tie up Luke with some rope, then gets knocked over.

Hi there

I was just wondering (and sorry if mentioned in previous posts) where I could find the XVID version of ANH:R Purist Edition, because I can't register on demonoid.com (where it is findable) and on other sites there are no more seeds for the torrent.

Any idea someone?

Thanks :)

Sorry, there is no XVID of Purist. Someone may have made one, but the official Purist release is a DVD5.

Handbrake looks cool. I might have to use it to make my copy for iPod.

Red Ring of Death Strikes Back
Time

I don't get these people who have RRODs frequently. I have one of the last launch 360s (couldn't wait for the HDMI to hit the Pro model back then) and the only overheating problem I've ever had was when I had my HD DVD adapter (I know, I'm full of impatience) sitting on top of it and the adapter overheated a couple of times when it wasn't even doing anything.

Yes, it gets really hot and its really loud, but I've never had a problem with it. I do only play it a couple times a week, if that.

Watch, I'll get home and play it tonight and it will overheat...

The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread

I enjoyed the opera scene because Palpatine made it sound like I was right. Back in 2000, I was sitting around thinking about TPM, when it hit me: What if Palpatine cloned midiclorians and put them inside a slave girl on a backwater planet so he could have an all-powerful apprentice he could pick up whenever he pleased? Why else would Lucas have introduced a scientific aspect to the force if it can't be manipulated? Then the Jedi found the boy and Palpatine thinks "This is even better, they found my experiment, and they're going to teach him all of the basic Force usage stuff he would need. I just need to get close to him and turn him when he gets powerful enough." Of course, I thought that was odd, and something Palpatine would have said in RotJ trying to sway Luke. "You can't redeem your father. He is mine. I created him. In a way... I am your grandfather!"

I raised a fist in the air in triumph during that scene. Of course, he doesn't just come out and say it. And it may not even be a true statement on Palpatine's part. But one day when I was 16, my mind worked the same as Lucas'. I wrote it all down, I know I still have it somewhere...

Some people complain about removing the completely unnessary Boba Fett from RotJ and have no problem removing the plot-centric Jar Jar Binks from TPM. I guess its all a matter of taste. Boba Fett is all insert shots in Jabba's palace, interacts with one person (and then only in the SE), then flies from Jabba's sail barge to a skiff, gets knocked off and dies. How is that essential in any way, especially since everyone wants him to live anyway?

But that has nothing to do with ESB, so I'll drop it now.

I think you guys are missing the point. It isn't so much about Boba Fett than it is about Han Solo having a measure of revenge on Boba....

Is there even a reaction shot of Han after he hits Fett? Is it ever mentioned again? If anyone needs to have revenge taken on, its Lando and Han forgave him instantly, which we did get to see.

Its not like Fett hunting Han was personal.

Really, we should take this back to the ESB/RotJ Wishlist thread.

Adywan, are you going to the look at the stills on moviemistakes.com for a guide on errors to correct?

yes, i've been looking through that site.

We also have to remember that Adywan has already gone through the film literally frame by frame to do his color correction. Ady, did you find anything on your go-through that any of the "mistake" sites have missed?

Not to spoil anything, but ImperialFighter is planning on doing another in depth analysis of suggestions, this time on Imperial Walkers instead of Star Destroyers. I took all the screenshots for him yesterday, but figured I'd use some of them to show the comparisons between Ady's new binocular view and the originals.

Luke's binocular view

Rebel soldier's binocular view

Revisited's combination.

Pretty cool. Maybe Luke's should have the red box in the middle?

Idea: Heroes TV Series to Films

I thought of an idea. What would Heroes be like as a film series rather then a tv series. I thought of the idea of editing the show into films.

Volume I would be made into 3 films

Volume II i'm not sure

Volume III could easily become 1 film.

I plan on removing a lot of unneccisary subplots and stuff. This is just an idea for now. I am going to mess around with editing volume III into a film now.

Unnecessary subplots? You can just ignore Volume II then. Looks like the writers have.

Maybe editing wasn't the right word. I'm just trimming them and separating them due to the process I had to use to record them. I'll redo the Fett lines so you can hear the papers again.

Record? Wouldn't downloading the wma files (used in the audio previews) be better/easier?

Just look for the wma in the sourcecode or (in FF) rightclick on the preview page, click 'View Page Info', click the tab 'Media', choose the embedded wma from the list and click 'Save As...'

I poked around in there, but don't know enough about HTML to be of any use.

Of course, I'm done now and am in the process of uploading them.

EDIT: DarthBo's method works great, but I'll go through them and mirror them on my GooglePage.

EDIT2: Editing WMA files is a pain in the patootie, so I'm going to upload the WAVs on my page. Should be easier for editing.

So, I've been keeping an archive of all of the ESBR previews on my thumb drive, but I started keeping them too late to have the original teaser or the date of release for the revised version with the new Emperor. Can anyone help with finding the original teaser, when it was released, and when the revised version was?

Thanks.

Here you go;

I have all the videos from start till now;

Thanks, ladyferry, but I was looking for the original AVI of the original version that was released before the ANHR DVD.

Also, I can extract the audio from the AT&T website I posted earlier, so I'll post them to my GooglePage as I get them edited. I have to edit them because you can hear them rattling their papers around in the booth. Incredible.

No, please don't edit them. i think its really cool that the recordings are so raw

But man, all that screaming and whistling would seriously piss me off if I was in that cinema. I've never, ever been to see a film where the crowd acts like that. Must be an American thing. We Brits are much more reserved!! :)

That was the preview from the San Diego Comic Con. Movie goers aren't like that, huge nerds at a nerd festival are.

What I wouldn't give to go that nerd festival...
