For me the scene where Vader is being "put back together" on the table & he is knocking away the med droids bugs the sith out of me

if the audio of his perfectly healthy moans of pain was replaced with that of a person barely able to breath it would be enough for me (I will mention this in the future when Ady gets around to doing Ep III) what do you guys think?

sorry for the off topic post but this has bugged me since I saw the movie in the cinema

TMBTM mentioned something like this on page 10 of 'The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread', and I like this thought.

I just wish we'd got slightly more 'Vader in suit' action by the end of the third one, but George just didn't write it that way at the time, unfortunately.  Instead of the 'fade-out' as he (badly) screamed out "Noooooooooooo!", I'd have like to have seen him say, 'force throw' even the Emperor near him against the wall, and then have the injured Emperor put his hand up quickly, while telling Vader "WAIT!...."

Do Jedi call their attacks like anime ninja? ;-P

Is it bad that I asked for KotCS for my birthday just so I could be justified in downloading whatever edit comes out of this thread?

I don't remember if I mentioned it on this thread before, but my main problem with this movie is that I never felt the characters were in any danger.  I'm seeing it in the theater for the first time and not once was I worried for the characters.  I still get stressed out during Temple of Doom with the collapsing ceiling, but there wasn't anything like that in KotCS.  The part where I expected to find traps or whatever (the graveyard), all I got were pointless tribal ninjas and Indy almost running into unfamiliar terriority with his son in tow!  Every step into the temple or wherever I expected Indy to just stop everyone so he could at least CHECK for traps, but he didn't seem to care, which made me not care either.

If the characters don't care about their own safety, how are we supposed to?

Thanks for your precious help ! It'll take time to download via Rapidshare but it's ok.

Why doesn' t Adywan mention links for his own work ? Is it a secret ?

It's safer for a fan editor to release it into the wild and say "find it yourself".  That way if Lucasfilm comes knocking they can't say "YOU posted it here and have links for it HERE, HERE, and HERE".  This site also forbids direct links for the same reason.  The link you were given used to be THE place for direct links, but the MPAA came a couple months ago and made them take all the links down.  Scary stuff.

But Revisited is the greatest thing ever.  Be sure to download the DVD-9 (dual layer) for all the bonus feature goodness.  And visit the links in my signature if you want to see every visual change / fix Adywan made to the movie.  He gave me 500 of them, and that doesn't count changes in movement, pacing changes, or audio changes.

I watched the gallery and it looks very promising.

Please, what is the MPAA ?

The Motion Picture Association of America.  They represent American movie studios and they're in charge of the rating system (G, PG, PG-13, R, NC-17).  They also try to prevent piracy, which is why they frown on links to movies on websites.

I was watching the DVD9 version again yesterday when I suddenly realized something:

The battle of heroes music you added to reflect Anakin and Obi-Wan's fight in EpIII... isn't that a major clue/spoiler that Darth Vader is Anakin?

If you are removing the Vader=Anakin references from the prequels, isn't adding this music to the OT a bit contradictory? Or are you planning on replacing the music in the PT?

Just wondering :-)

Good point.  Maybe "Battle of the Heroes" is more of "Obi-wan is fighting" than "Obi-wan and Anakin are fighting"?

Thanks. I'm not sure it's DVD 9. It says Adywan's STAR WARS - REVISITED: PAL

I'll look all that quietly later. For now I go back to work. Thanks to you once more ! :)

Do you live in the PAL region (ie, not America)?  Just making sure.

Lol ! Thanks.

I have part 1 on 47 now. I thought I could see the first minutes before I get the rest but my softwares don' t want to run it.  It'll probably lead me to another question but I'll wait until I've tried all I can.

Only if you're downloading the XVID will you be able to just watch it.  The rest need to be burned to DVD, or the complete ISO will need to finish and you run a virtual DVD-ROM drive.

And know that the XVID is just the first draft.

Know your versions!

The shots are correct, it just seems that the bridge shot needs to be flipped.  If you notice right after the bridge shot, Needa's SD (the one in the middle) is making evasive manuevering and heading downwards, while the SD on the left (and his right) is heading upwards so that they will miss each other.  Regardless, the SD that is about to hit Needa is on Needa's right, not left.

Yes, I reckon now that the single Stardestroyer could have just 'veered' towards the one on it's RIGHT-hand side in the intervening cut (although it seems to have done it rather quickly!), and I'm agreeing that the 'interior' shot would be the easiest to 'flip' or alter.  You are right that it does indeed seem that the single Stardestroyer is slightly lower than the other 2, as it first approaches, and the Millennium Falcon initially dives downwards.

Screenshots will be helpful for this one.

Monroville, having had a proper look at this whole sequence now, there are a few comments I'd like to make on it all, and so I'm going to ask doubleofive to give me the specific shots I need, when he can.

But just to say for now, that I now think we were both wrong, and that the 'interior' shot of Captain Needa's Stardestroyer 'Avenger' is probably okay the way round it is currently, and doesn't need 'flipping' after all....  I'll explain why eventually, as well as suggesting a couple of 'alternative' tweaks that would also work, where that particular moment is concerned.

Joshua_Blue, I always look on it as Vader merely 'swiping' at Luke just enough to 'unbalance' him, and make him have to move backwards a little, so that he'll fall into the carbon freeze opening....which he does.

I have the movie in my DVD-ROM drive and am about to take screenshots.  I was going to take some of the Star Destroyers, but I'll wait then. :-)

Agreed!  I brought that one up what seems like AGES ago now, and is probably the one FX shot I'm looking most forward to seeing fixed. :)

Fixed?  If I recall correctly, he said he was SCRAPPING the shot and making a whole new one.  Which is even better than fixing it!

Here's an idea I had regarding his quick turn (but not relating directly to the "reason"). It seems to me that when he confronts Palpatine and discovers he's the Sith, he's almost ready to kill him, but he changes his mind so quickly later. Instead, as per George's original plan, edit the scene in Palpatine's hallway so that Anakin seems conflicted by Palpatine's admission. He ignites his saber breifly, but after some prattle from Palps (insert "reason" here), he turns off his saber, and Palpatine smiles. Scene ends. (Anakin never alerts Mace. The Jedi already suspect Palpatine will not turn over power. I think there's a deleted scene that may be useful here). When Mace shows up, Anakin is nowhere to be seen. But he's actually sulking conflictedly in the shadows (maybe footage from the council chamber scene could be darkened and rotoscoped). While the duel continues, Anakin experiences his true turn: an emotional crescendo where we hear in his mind waves of overlapping voices (Qui Gon: "He is the chose one", Palps: "I see you becoming the greatest of all the Jedi", etc etc.). The voices continue and jumble up, getting louder and becoming unbearable (the right music could really sell this). Just as the voices reach a peak and crash into silence, Palps seems to be beaten. Anakin, now turned, suddenly steps out to quietly dismember Mace. After the electrified Mace flies out the window, the kneeling Anakin simply says "I will do whatever you ask, my master."

And that's my 1 cent.

THAT would be incredible.  Your 1 cent has turned to 5.

Hey hey.

Just throwing this out there, but how about the Darth Editous (or Darth Editous/ADigitalMan Hybrid) version? It's color corrected (might need to tone down some reds or something) and has far less edits than Ady's.

Yeah, I haven't seen them, but I'm wondering if DE/ADM would be a better starting point or even exactly what you're looking for.  That's the edit Ady saw which inspired him to go one step further.  If you're wanting to go one step back, that might be what you need.  At the very least, you could use it as a base and take elements from ANHR if you really needed them.

There was one shot when I was going to through the film for ImperialFighter just before Wedge fires his tow cable where you can see the side of the walker THROUGH Luke and his cockpit while Luke is talking!  That will take some skill to get rid of.

When they talk about the Special Editions, they always talk about how they "digitally recomposited" all of the effects shots.  If they did, why are there still matte lines, garbages boxes, and transparent cockpits?  Give Adywan access to those oringal composites for a WEEK and there wouldn't be any of that crap.

Ridiculous.

That is freakishly awesome, Ady. What did you do to the asteroids to make them look so good?

the whole background asteroid field i had to rebuild from scratch. The original was just a doubled matte and looked blurred. then there is about 30+ different layers of asteroids added on top to fill the background and give it more depth. The on top of that there are all the single larger asteroids added. The each layer has to have a separate motion path given to match the main motion of the shot. all in all the cockpit shot alone had almost 100 different layers to create it. Even my quad core struggled to render all that so i am so glad i dropped the 1080p idea because i now know it would have been impossible.

The whole asteroid sequence is having a makeover so be prepared. lol

Remember when this was just going to be a color correction / de-SEification?  LOL

The new clip looks amazing.  I read your explanation of all the layers before I went to bed, but I still gasped when I saw it for the first time this morning.

Speeder bikes.

How about cropping out the offending, inaccurate parts un the AT-AT? That would be a lot easier. Ady, you did well with zoomed in shots on ANH revisited, I recall in the rebel Yavin briefing room during the death star attack you cropped it closer with no noticable graininess. The image above is a bit blurry, but I am sure you can make that scene look good in as you did with those other scenes in ANH-R.

Also, to make another quick comment on that scene, I think it needs to be darkened a bit as it looks too well lit to be the underbelly of the AT-AT, if they is a way you can darken it some it would be great.

That's an idea.  And since he's going from a 1080p source to ultimately a 480i final product, he has plenty of room to zoom.

Hey, that rhymes!

THE STICK!

LOOK AT IT!  IT MOCKS ME!

I would make my own fan edit just to get rid of that stick that pokes up out of the set and pushes the AT-AT over.  Honestly, I think it would be an easy fix, and I would be REALLY UPSET if the stick was in Revisited.

It's always interesting to see ImperialFighter's final product.  I know that I did the screenshots, but I usually have no idea what he's going for.  I find it interesting the things that jump out at him that I never noticed.  Of course, after scouring the shots trying to get the frame he wants, I can see them now.

I just noticed that the feet have much more snow encrusted on them in this shot:

Than in these shots:

Now I'm ruining it for everybody.
