Monroville, you really should take the time to read through (or at least skim through, skipping boring bits) the whole ANH:R thread. Lots of fascinating things there. :) You may not even know about some of the ridiculous things that happened to Adywan in his making that edit.

You mean losing everything and having to start over again multiple times? How close we were to never having it at all!

BTW, what was the great flipper debate? And the snowflake on Chewie's foot?

Great Flipper Debate: Originally, Ady had replaced the hairy arm on the floor of the cantina with a model based on Ponda Baba's hand, since his was the arm that got cut off according to the EU and other sources. This cause a huge stir as people who had no problem with a hairy arm on the floor were suddenly up in arms (no pun intended) because it didn't even register to them that Ponda Baba had suction cup hands which then brought up the question of "how does he hold a gun?" So Ady made it so its actually the Doctor's arm that gets cut off (a cameo by his own hand!).

Snowflake on Chewie's Foot: A long running joke started by HotRod back during ANHR about Ady doing such good work, but ignoring the sand on Chewie's foot. When the conversation was moved to ESBR, he started complaining about the snowflake. I'm sure in a few years, it will be the twig...

Ack! Why is this being changed? Or is it just being talked about? I haven't been keeping up, so if someone can point me to the page where it was discussed, I'll read about it there first.

IMO, this doesn't need to be changed at all. Actually, IMO, most of the changes that have been discussed don't need to be done.

This is the page where it's being talked about. Ady has not weighed in on the idea yet.

ive alway been curious about the logo thing. they look excellent! thought about recolouring them? i remember the original esb trailer having a blue logo.

That's a great idea. Keep SW yellow, but change ESB's title and crawl to blue and RotJ's title and crawl to red, since those seem to be the "official" colors for each movie. Since you have to redo RotJ's crawl, you might as well redo ESB so you can change the colors.

I'd love to see the redone crawls, at the very least.

EDIT: I threw together examples using the title cards posted.

Im adding my opinions to proposed changes. If I state nothing I am for it or dont care: Go through the above post and my opinons will be listed underneath each entry like so

Axia Euxines opinion : thats great!

So if I'm reading this right, you like the 2004 version with some minor tweaks. Good luck, because Ady says he thinks RotJ is almost as bad as the prequels. Now, I'm not going to defend a lot of things on the list I compiled, but after watching RotJ a few weeks ago, I was disappointed as its an average ending to the OT and a terrible ending for the whole saga. I'm hoping Ady can make it better at being both, but its going to take a lot.

All this talk about rearranging all of the Executor bridge shots and creating a whole new building for the Vader/Luke duel to take place in reminds me of when this was basically going to be a color correction / restoration to the 1980 pacing. Now it sounds like the 510 pictures showing the visual changes in ANHR are going to be nothing compared to all of the visual changes and tweaks Ady is announcing now.

I can't wait to see them all.

RotJ is better in the color department than ANH or ESB, but not perfect. I'm sure Ady's color correction will cover your recent thoughts, Angel.

As for the battle outside the Emperor's window, I think it should be moved closer, but not that close. They'd still have to be outside the range of the shields. But I think they should be more than points of light off in the distance, especially when Luke is watching during The Temptation. And I don't know if the DS surface would be in view from a tower that high above the surface... I don't have the brain for the calculations they did over on the ESBR thread about the Executor surface, so it might very well be visible. Not sure if its necessary though.

Well i have solved the issue i was having with the placement of the Executor bridge and the control room. It came to me the other night when i was looking at the final shot in the movie of Vader waking off the bridge and down some steps. Why not change the background to include the control room. this would explain how Vader got to the control room from the bridge in the probe droid report sequence. All i had to do was change the background for the final shot and add steps to the wide bridge matte shots. sorted.

"All I had to do...." Heh, heh, you make it sound so easy Adywan! Great stuff once again. This entirely ties-in with what I always imagined as being the general layout, when we first see the Bridge in the movie, now.

Same here. This is exactly the setup I always imagined, thanks for making my imagination right!

That is hilarious though, "All I had to do." "You know all those shots where they're weren't stairs? Yeah, I added some."

The Clone Wars (2008 animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

So I recorded Friday's episode on both the SD and HD channels to figure out what kind of ratio the HD channel was giving me...

And it was just fine. Whatever crop/stretch mess they had going on has been replaced by the standard 16:9. That's awesome that SkyHD has them in 2.35:1, but I wonder if they'll be available on home video in that ratio. The DVDs say 16:9 so far. Maybe someone should start archiving the SkyHD versions just in case.

The good with the paintings is that they are fast.

The diference with the mattes is it needs time.

Monroville: I really like the concepts you make. But Ady will be the final judge of what is in or not :)

I try to make your ideas with more detail just for fun and for brainstorming!

also our fan made William Shatner, Commentary track (audio edit from his Movie Memories audio book),

Nice to see someone took my suggestion. I mentioned it a few times in this forum but nobody seemed to like the idea.

I'm very interested in how you edited this track.

Good luck! The project looks great!

The Movie Memories audio was planed from the project's start, and was listed in the extras section in the original post. That's the only reason why I did not acknowledge you. But I am not too sure that it works very well as a commentary track. As an audio book, Shatner does a lot of reading in the 3rd person, and his delivery is very wooden. It needs major editing, and I need to find the time to work on it more. I have had the 2 audio books on my PC for close to a year in cut up bits.

 And

And this is different from talking to Shatner how? ;-)

Not sure if this has been addressed or not!!

Now, isn't the SE of this scene wrong?

We see the earlier shot of Luke walking into the chamber and R2 being locked out. No balcony or sunset etc. Then 10 mins later we see our band of heroes and hey, a beautiful sunset view from a balcony.

That pissed me off back in 97, so, Adyman, what you gonna do? Hey dude...What you gonna do???

Ha!!

;)

You think R2 kept banging his head against the door for 20 minutes? I'm sure he kept trying different doors to follow Luke. :-P

I always assumed that Leia flew close enough to the Executor as to be out of the angle of the tractor beam. Its the Empire, they assume that everyone will be running away from them. It's shown multiple times that they have no idea what to do when things come closer or start attacking them.

Also, I'd originally thought that the forced perspective were forced perspective, then figured that because they were so bad, maybe they were just decorations. Then I see that painting and now know that they are supposed to be forced perspective, and it makes me sad that they weren't done better.

Ah, for what might have been...

On another note, is there any way you could add an opening or access door for the pit crew? Even as a teenager, I found it kinda goofy that all these people are in these pits with no way to get out. I mean there should be at least a ladder or something!

I know it's not canon or anything but in the Jedi Outcast game you can use the Executor bridge as a location for multi-player fisticuffs.

In that the entrance is on the pit level so the pit techs don't get in the way of the higher officers (there is even a lower level observation deck which is accessed the same way).

I can't find a video of it but it makes sense to me (it also adds a layer of humiliation to Piett being down in the pit looking up at the bounty hunters).

I'm sure someone still has Outcast. Wait. I still have Outcast. If we weren't covered in a Southern Indiana snowstorm, I'd go get it.
