I love you all. That pandown is incredible. Yes, animate that GIF!

SomethingStarWarsRelated said:Sorry for the delay! You'll have to forgive these old jpegs and the image size...I actually made these a long time ago...
Ok, and this was another image I had made with a little description below...I still think the idea is worth considering... :)
Poor Frank. Now that his head has been exposed, it must be eliminated!
I never liked that Luke manages to cut off the ice around his feet and not cut his feet off! How does that work?
corellian77 said:Well, I've been away for quite awhile, and I see it's cost me dearly... 248 pages to wade through??? Frak me.
Ady, sorry to rehash this (I looked back a few pages and couldn't see where the debate began)... but which scene in ESB has the spinning starfield? Is it at the end when the Falcon finally jumps into hyperspace?
For what my 2 cents are worth, I'm not sure what the inconsistency/problem is with the spinning starfield. I always assumed the ships in SW spun when they entered hyperspace... that's why, when seeing a jump from a ship's point of view, the stars spin, and why when a ship's in hyperspace (e.g., ROTJ, ANH:R) we see that wormhole effect (caused, I thought, by the stars spinning by).
But... that being said, who's really going to miss it (aside from Jeyl, of course)? If I read the posts correctly, you apparently removed a spin effect from ANH already? If so, I didn't even notice, so... there ya go :)
The spin is only when the Falcon jumps away from the Star Destroyers over Tatooine and the Executor over Bespin. Adywan points out that when Tydirium goes to light speed in RotJ it goes straight out and the fleet does not spin around it. The spinning starfield is for dramatic effect in those two shots by Lucas' own admission.
SomethingStarWarsRelated said:Ady, I don't believe I've this has been mentioned yet:
In the introduction of Yoda scene there are one or two shots where you can see Frank Oz's head. Somewhere around the time he's eating Luke's food and messing around with R2. If you need me to I'll post screen caps...
Please do! I've never heard that.
Honestly, I'm not sure about those particular eyelids. Blinking, yes, but Greedo in ANHR didn't look so stoned. ;-)
Looks like Erikstormtrooper still has it up.
Here they are! mos_eisley_mixdown_layers.zip
I'd love to see a step by step on how he does some things, but I've studied his single Photoshop file from ANHR's Ronto removal and I still don't know how he did it!
Nice. Very nice.
I don't think we should ignore the idea that "blue = electricity" just because the EU thought the same way. Besides, in all of those sources (besides TCW) its a blue laser identical to the red/green lasers. I'm sure that Ady's version isn't just a recolored blast, but might actually look like compressed electricity, which would be awesome. The fact that they are blue are coincidences.
bkev said:Vaderios, like the shield generator in the new matte - but it just looks so ... blurry... right now. Just some C&C.
I think its blurry to show that the camera is moving along with the ship. I'm imagining the camera panning up from the trees to see the generator in the distance, then the shuttle flies past the camera.
I got the RiffTrax for A New Hope so I had to watch the 04 version this weekend. I keep adding my own quips about the terrible color (facetones in the Death Star conference room looked like they were all getting choked!) and my wife kept complaining about the unbalanced sound. The RiffTrax was great by the way. For those of you worried that they blaspheme the movie, they really don't. Most of the jokes are making fun of the prequels and the SE additions. Well worth the money, and its another reason besides making this edit "legal" for keeping the DVD.
skyjedi2005 said:The 2004 special editions and greedo shooting first 1997 versions of star wars should be made fun of but only the new scenes added. The old original trilogy stuff is good imho, okay maybe the ewoks in jedi deserve ridicule on Lucas part just like Jar Jar. But to me the Worst change of all was Hayden in Return of the Jedi. Oh and of course George had to put Jar Jar saying weesa freeee!.
I don't know if anyone actually got this, but I did this weekend it was hilarious. A great deal of the jokes were about the Special Edition (upon entering Mos Eisley "Oh so this is what Mos Eisley looks like! Boy the movie wouldn't have made any sense without these shots" "Yeah, no one would have liked it ever!"; "It's great that Lucas could realize his vision for this scene: out of focus brontosaurus butt."). A whole bunch of them were about the prequels (And this is my counterpart R2D2: "I stood by your mother as she died."; "Luke's laying the sand! His father would have hated that!")
The scariest joke came shortly after the crawl ended: "My question is, how are you watching this DVD when you told everyone online you were gonna throw it out and only keep the theatrical version, huh?" It's like they're watching us... Hi Mike!
Beautiful work, all around! Every time Adywan posts, I feel better about what he's doing! Which, as high as my feelings started, I'm about to explode with excitement!
That shouldn't stop you from doing what you can to show us how you could unite the backgrounds. I think it would be hard because you'd have to do the mountains and stuff from so many different angles.
No adding Yavin to the background to tie up the directions, eh?
It may already have been taken care of, you never know with Ady. Also, I'm sure he'd want to do them himself, because he's like that.
Good lord. Seriously, I just follow his directions to find the screenshots. I had no idea what he was going for through any of that. It's all good stuff!
But look at all the different colors of AT-ATs and sky in those shots! Each one is different, like taking place on different days even!
Even the same walker has four completely different backgrounds in a few seconds!

vaderios said:Interesting... i never saw the forest color correction as a saturation boost.
Ok next time i will tone the things down a bit ;P

Edit:
1st Frame: my color corection
2nd Frame: Desaturation -25%
3d Frame: Desaturation -35%
4th Frame: Desaturation -40%
5th Frame: Original
I thought your original was a bit too green, but I like the 40 or 35 the best in this line up. Much better than 2004!
Sojourn said:Congratulations on the camera, ady (man, you got me, too!)! I know I haven't really been vocal much recently (work has been a little hectic), but I've caught up on the past week or two of posts, and it looks like things are moving along splendidly. I'm going to need to dig deeper back to find the source of all this shooting-new-sequences talk so I can figure out exactly what you're going to be doing, but I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of it! And, as before, if you need some help, let me know.
Take care,
Sojourn
Here is Ady's list of new things he needs to film.
adywan said:oh yeh, did i forget to mention that its out of stock because i purchased the last one? lol. I'm just awaiting the site to process the order now
You... That was mean! I'm so glad everything worked out. Now for them to actually ship it to you. Of course, they can take a while, you've got some models to build! :-D
Darth Bos Pity said:One last thing Ady, why are you using Boba's original voice, as much as i like it, he is a clone & should have the same voice as his Dad (himself), & the 2004 "Alert my star destroyer to prepare for my arrival" is much beter than "Bring my shuttle", granted he sounds more p****d off, but i prefere it personally, & i don't see the need to remove the Imperial shuttle docking with the SSD, it looks cool, & isn't out of place, why did you decide to do this?
Great work truly great work, i enjoyed ANH:R & Sketch thank you very much, unbelievable tht you would donate to this project!
For the voicework, it comes down to the actors. Morrison literally did his over the phone, and there is no way that Vader's line came from "a deleted scene from A New Hope". As for the shuttle, its pacing. We assume that Vader makes it back to the ship and focus on the escape in 1980. Now we take random breaks from the action to see that, yes, Vader does make it to his ship, and gets off to talk to the same people that great him at the start of the next movie.
I think they are welcome reversions.
Grythandril said:It seems Lucas like to flip scenes around and hope no one will notice.
followed by
I am assuming correctly that these scenes are flipped again.
I was going to start crying that you keep pointing out new flaws, but I pointed this out a long time ago, and I think Ady said he was doing something about it.
So that's good.
TMBTM said:The red glow in the AT-AT interiors. Thanks for doing that mock-up. that has really helped put my point across that adding red lighting to the interiors will look fake. This is really something that doesn't need doing.
NooooOOOooooo! :( ;)
Just kidding, while I really like the idea and the mock-up, it would probably be a bit distracting inside the movie, indeed.
(But to be 100% logic, if you don't add that red light to the interior, it shoud be erased from the exterior of the AT-AT... but it would probably be too much work for such a detail anyway)
That's the plan!
Awesome to hear that you liked the ion cannon concept, and indeed, most of the concepts that vaderios and Bingo have been throwing around. Hopefully you like some of the RotJ stuff they've been throwing around also.
What about Vader's Force choke of Lando? I know its not important, but I'd love to know if things I've come up with (Rebel Transport jumping to hyperspace, etc) actually might make it into the final cut... I'm just being selfish realy. :-)
I'm still more for saving it for Vader's distress at Luke's suicide attempt.
;-)

I'm starting work on that later in the week so as soon as that is finished i will post some photos.
Have you thought of getting in touch with someone who has built various Wampas in the past? Such as Tom Spina whom I know from The Replica Props Forum http://www.tomspinadesigns.com/Sculpture.html. Scroll down to the sixth row. I also remember he built a full size Wampa a while back.
Wow, that guys really good. I wonder if Ady could borrow some stuff from him, like the Wampa, or that Jabba and Max Rebo Band. Wish they were puppets though...
