Discussion: Little Men, Little Wars - Share Your Star Wars Collection
Time

My wife finally let me put up some of my Star Wars collection, in a corner, in the second bedroom.  Hey, it's better than nothing!

The full shelf
All of the Vintage figures I have without duplicates (missing 3 from the original run)

"Star Wars" (missing R2-D2)

"The Empire Strikes Back" (full set)

"Return of the Jedi" (missing Paploo and Teebo)
Plus my only carded figure and 2 "Power Of The Force" figures

I have about 20 duplicates and only a handful of my figures have all of the accessories.  I also have most of the vehicles and creatures that I played with my whole childhood.

It doesn't look like much, but I'm proud of it.

“These are toys, these are little men. This is Greedo, and then this is Hammerhead, see this is Walrus Man, and this is Snaggle Tooth and this is Lando Calrissian see, …and look, they can even have wars. Look at this.” - Elliot, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

I’m not sure if this should go on General Star Wars Discussion or Memorabilia Discussion, but this is a thread to share pictures of your Star Wars collection.  I’ll start it off in the next post.

I'm still not WILD about a longer version...  Admittedly, I've only seen the Director's Cut, so I don't know what's missing.  I'm more excited to see the Fan Edit of it.

This seems like an excellent project, with all these additional extras, and I'll join you in being very excited to see what can be done with the Fan Edit of this eventually....

I do have the Director's Cut DVD, if you want to start on the ridiculously detailed sequences I'm sure you have in mind... ;-)

The room is clearly a part of the ship command centre that is just being used for the briefing (Ackbar's control blister over hangs the area and we see the holo-table being used as a tactical display during the battle.

Really?  I never noticed.

Remember when the shield goes down tech guys are monitoring the hologram of the Death Star just before Ackbar commands that fleet moves away before it explodes.

holotable

Oh yeah.  I thought about that after I posted.  Thanks for posting it.

I just watched it on my iPod, and I think with a little orange lighting on the proceeding two shots it could be just fine, as one is looking up at Chewie from R2's perspective as Chewie turns a corner and the next is from 3PO's perspective down, neither of which would show the balcony anyway.

I don't think Shaw or Hayden need to morph either way.  Neither one of them will be recognizable to Luke anyway and the audience should assume he aged as opposed to wondering why Anakin got to keep his young body in the afterlife and Obi-wan has to be old.

Unless everyone morphs from their old versions to their Episode III versions.  That sounds like something Lucas would have done, and I'm honestly surprised he didn't.

Again, I think adding Qui-Gon is adding things for the sake of adding them.  If LUCAS showed enough restraint not to do it, I think we should also.

He didn't show any restraint when he added Hayden.

Yes, but he did show restraint by stopping with Hayden.  It could have been worse.  So much worse.

(Yeah, I made it delibrately look bad.  Sure.  That's it.)

I tried to view the RotJ footage with the prequelesque lightsaber sound but it was gone. I did check out a similar video of part of Empire's fight with new lightsaber sound FX and I REALLY, REALLY like the idea. Makes the lightsabers sound more powerful and I am all for that. Adywan you should check that out.

Definitely add the scar.

and last but not least no more additional ghosts. Luke doesnt know them. And I think a Hayden blend into Shaw ghost for the the rest of it. But thats just me.

Thats why Qui-Gon should appear after Luke has looked away. THe audience will know him and Luke doesnt have to be confused and bam! connection of the triologies. Also I do like the idea of Hayden turing into Shaw or the other way around.

Another little fix....

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

as for the blockade i will be adding a couple of extra stardestroyers to the initial approach and a disabled stardestroyer in the background during Lukes escape but what i was saying was that Luke could easily slip away unchallenged because its just one fighter and a transport did leave just before he escaped so any remaining stardestroyers (which would only be one or two at the most) would be concentrating on the larger ships, so no need to add loads of stardestroyers for that scene. After all Luke is going in a completely different direction than the rebels so he most likely leaves in the opposite direction so you wouldn't see all the disabled stardestroyers which seem to concentrate above the rebel base on the other side of the planet.

Awesome.  From toned down lightsabers (which Vaderios is pointing out in the "ESB and ROTJ Wish List" will be a huge pain in RotJR) to a disabled Star Destroyer as Luke is leaving.  Sweet action.

Adding Hayden to RotJ was already the best definition of "just because you can do something doesn't mean you should."  Adding thousands of other Jedi would change the ending of RotJ significantly and make it look less like "the redemption of Anakin Skywalker" and more like "the redemption of Jedi as a whole", which is not the point of the saga by any definition.

The shot on the left is from the '04 DVD and was given the altered BG for the '97 SE. The shot on the right is the BG from the OUT. Clearly someone from Lucas farked up during the SE - unheard of isn't it? I'm sure Ady can clean this up very easily. I like Imperialfighters suggestions for improving the detail on the set.

The left shot was added for the SE?  I haven't watched the OUT since 1997, but that doesn't seem right.

Ladies and Gents, we are forgetting something here:

There is a completely different thread for all of this ANH:R stuff!  The past 20 PAGES have been about ANH:R!  While I feel the same way and love the edit, there is a different place to:

(1) spread the love

(2) ask for download links, references, clues, etc

(3) discuss any problems with edit, downloading said edit, etc.

This is supposed to be strickly regarding the EMPIRE STRIKES BACK: REVISITED edit and suggestions as to how to do that edit if Ady wants to consider them (by strickly I mean how a football stadium is strickly for football: still plenty of room to move around in, but still all about football or some other sporting activity other than racing cars).

Again, I know I'm being an ass here, but the bigger this thread gets with things unrelated to what it is supposed to be, the harder it is going to be for Ady to sift through the posts and check them out.  Save the JEDI:REVISITED stuff for that thread when it's posted AFTER EMPIRE:REVISITED is finished and available for download.

And Vaderios!  Where've you been!  We miss you!

Quoting this before Monroville realizes what thread he posted this in.  The past 270 pages have been about ANHR for the simple reason that this is the ANHR thread.

Hehe...

Sorry for the delay! You'll have to forgive these old jpegs and the image size...I actually made these a long time ago...

Ok, and this was another image I had made with a little description below...I still think the idea is worth considering...  :)

Poor Frank.  Now that his head has been exposed, it must be eliminated!

I never liked that Luke manages to cut off the ice around his feet and not cut his feet off!  How does that work?

Well, I've been away for quite awhile, and I see it's cost me dearly... 248 pages to wade through???  Frak me.

Ady, sorry to rehash this (I looked back a few pages and couldn't see where the debate began)... but which scene in ESB has the spinning starfield?  Is it at the end when the Falcon finally jumps into hyperspace?

For what my 2 cents are worth, I'm not sure what the inconsistency/problem is with the spinning starfield.  I always assumed the ships in SW spun when they entered hyperspace... that's why, when seeing a jump from a ship's point of view, the stars spin, and why when a ship's in hyperspace (e.g., ROTJ, ANH:R) we see that wormhole effect (caused, I thought, by the stars spinning by).

But... that being said, who's really going to miss it (aside from Jeyl, of course)?  If I read the posts correctly, you apparently removed a spin effect from ANH already?  If so, I didn't even notice, so... there ya go :)

The spin is only when the Falcon jumps away from the Star Destroyers over Tatooine and the Executor over Bespin.  Adywan points out that when Tydirium goes to light speed in RotJ it goes straight out and the fleet does not spin around it.  The spinning starfield is for dramatic effect in those two shots by Lucas' own admission.
