DONE.

Final tally: 290

Screennames starting with "Darth": 22

Duplicates?

Boost = TheBoost ?
professa = professa skiving at work ?
Darth Stewie = DarthStewie ?
CLIVE_FERRYHILL = clive_ferryhill_jedi ?

Posted to my googlepage.  PM me if you're not on there.  I'm keeping the "civilian names" elsewhere.

I was indeed 'Boost' but I forgot that password because I'm dumb.

Which one do you want in the credits?

Watchmen Film
Time

I haven't been on this thread to avoid spoilers, but I'll post my mini-review:

I did not like it at all.  Overly long, overly boring.  When you make a movie about characters that just don't care about humanity, its hard to care.  They barely batted an eye when one of their own kills millions of people and frames another one of their friends, why should we?

Maybe we are just too far removed from the Cold War, maybe its just me.  Nothing resonated with me.  Watchmen didn't make any of the points I was led from the trailers that it would.  I thought by Rorschach's line in the trailer about people looking up for help and him saying no that the story was about heroes who were outlawed and when the world really needed them they refused to help.

This is really disjointed.  I'm going to write a review on my blog that is more coherent...

EDIT: Here is the link to my review.  It's still pretty disjointed, but hey, so is the movie. ;-)

Oh, and doubleofive, I will be sending you a PM regarding my civilian identity (wow, do I sound like a super-hero or what?) for inclusion in the credits for ESB:R. I want to see my name in the credits for a Star Wars movie.

Yes, I guess I should be the target of the secret identities...

can you put the forum name next to the real names then please so i can keep track. thanks

That was my plan!  Glad we're using a spreadsheet.

Almost halfway done.  194 names so far.

Help: looking for... HDTV Special Editions....

Hello! I'm a total newb here. So i hope i'm not messing up with any of the rules here. I'll do my best to follow them.

So what i'm trying to 'preserve' (collect) is the original theatrical 77, 80, 83 trilogy.

I think i've found what i wanted over at demonoid posted by 'booster2' if you do a search you can find it with: (The Original Unaltered Trilogy)

From what he said it's the 2006 bonus discs but somehow he got it to be fully widescreen instead of it cut off or whatever the problem was with those...

So a perfect theatrical release on DVD?? CHECK

Basically its a crop with some stabilization scripts ran on it.  Hardly perfect, but definitely better from my understanding.

Now i guess what i'm asking for here is if anyone can upload (becuase i couldn't find it) the 1997 HDTV Special Editions? So I can burn it onto a single DVD, not DL. I know that seems like it defeats the purpose (downgrading) But as far as technology goes this is all i have at the moment. (newly wed trying to save up)

So yea the 1997 HDTV Special Edition on a 4.3 GB DVD upload to demonoid would be AWESOME!!!

I don't believe the 97 SE was ever shown in HD.  Just the 04 SE.  See Adywan's 1080P AVCHD for the closest thing.

Anyone (not necessarily Ady if he's too busy) want to upload a top/bottom comparison vid of the new shot and the DVD?  There's been a LOT of improvements and it would be great to see them side-by-side.

I didn't even notice the X-wing getting blown up the first time around, nor did I notice the bridge windows being extended.  It just felt right from start to finish.  The attention to detail and continuity is so very, very nice to behold.  Good stuff. :)

The windows aren't extended Ady MOVED the officers to the front of the ship so it no longer looks like they're sliding past the planet!  Isn't that awesome?!

I don't have the tech to do a video comp.  It would be cool though.

Discussion: Little Men, Little Wars - Share Your Star Wars Collection
Time

My wife finally let me put up some of my Star Wars collection, in a corner, in the second bedroom.  Hey, it's better than nothing!

The full shelf
All of the Vintage figures I have without duplicates (missing 3 from the original run)

"Star Wars" (missing R2-D2)

"The Empire Strikes Back" (full set)

"Return of the Jedi" (missing Paploo and Teebo)
Plus my only carded figure and 2 "Power Of The Force" figures

I have about 20 duplicates and only a handful of my figures have all of the accessories.  I also have most of the vehicles and creatures that I played with my whole childhood.

It doesn't look like much, but I'm proud of it.

“These are toys, these are little men. This is Greedo, and then this is Hammerhead, see this is Walrus Man, and this is Snaggle Tooth and this is Lando Calrissian see, …and look, they can even have wars. Look at this.” - Elliot, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

I’m not sure if this should go on General Star Wars Discussion or Memorabilia Discussion, but this is a thread to share pictures of your Star Wars collection.  I’ll start it off in the next post.

I'm still not WILD about a longer version...  Admittedly, I've only seen the Director's Cut, so I don't know what's missing.  I'm more excited to see the Fan Edit of it.

This seems like an excellent project, with all these additional extras, and I'll join you in being very excited to see what can be done with the Fan Edit of this eventually....

I do have the Director's Cut DVD, if you want to start on the ridiculously detailed sequences I'm sure you have in mind... ;-)

The room is clearly a part of the ship command centre that is just being used for the briefing (Ackbar's control blister over hangs the area and we see the holo-table being used as a tactical display during the battle.

Really?  I never noticed.

Remember when the shield goes down tech guys are monitoring the hologram of the Death Star just before Ackbar commands that fleet moves away before it explodes.

holotable

Oh yeah.  I thought about that after I posted.  Thanks for posting it.

I just watched it on my iPod, and I think with a little orange lighting on the proceeding two shots it could be just fine, as one is looking up at Chewie from R2's perspective as Chewie turns a corner and the next is from 3PO's perspective down, neither of which would show the balcony anyway.

I don't think Shaw or Hayden need to morph either way.  Neither one of them will be recognizable to Luke anyway and the audience should assume he aged as opposed to wondering why Anakin got to keep his young body in the afterlife and Obi-wan has to be old.

Unless everyone morphs from their old versions to their Episode III versions.  That sounds like something Lucas would have done, and I'm honestly surprised he didn't.

Again, I think adding Qui-Gon is adding things for the sake of adding them.  If LUCAS showed enough restraint not to do it, I think we should also.

He didn't show any restraint when he added Hayden.

Yes, but he did show restraint by stopping with Hayden.  It could have been worse.  So much worse.

(Yeah, I made it delibrately look bad.  Sure.  That's it.)
