At least in the ROTJ celebrations i d like to see some of them to be morning like a new dawn :)

Angel posted this in the Prequel Redux thread, but I thought it appropriate here also.  I don't know if I should applaud them for saving money, or condemn them for not even changing the sky.

At least the colors are better.  Wait, THE COLORS ARE BETTER?!

well i can't see why selling some hand built stuff would be illegal. There is no way i could possibly think of selling the sets though. The canyon alone is going to be 13ft & 3ft and the hangar is going to be huge also so no possible way to ship these things in one piece. I may, however, be selling the Wampa and some of the smaller things that i wouldn't be needing for any of the other films in the saga. But its getting the money together to get the things done in the first place that's the problem. lol

That's really big.  I mean, wow.  Are you actually going to fly the Falcon through it, to scale?!  That's impressive.

Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Edit Suggestions

On a more serious note, I got the screenshot descriptions ImperialFighter needs for his suggestions.  I'll try to get those done for him today so he can post them here soon.

EDIT: I've not watched the movie since opening day, or even touched the DVD.  Pray for me, as I go almost frame by frame through the opening and closing of this movie.

So I had this idea some time ago for the climax with Spalko and someone at the other site suggested the same thing, so I wanted to see what you guys thought.

What if we show what Spalko is seeing visions of in the end. I don't know what EXACTLY, but maybe horrible things from the past? future? Obivously the clips would have to build from something somewhat normal to something crazier and crazier. But using old news footage, etc might be kinda cool  here. Might give the film that added weight that it needs.

Two things:

1. I think these would have to have some sort of effect to show she's seeing this in her mind. Nothing cheesy. Of course I don't have the tech know how to do this.

2. I would only want news footage or really old film footage. I don't want something from War of the Worlds in there or anything.

Horrible things from the past?  Getting crazier and crazier?  You don't need old film footage, you just need to show her the movie she was just in!

Oh, burn.

It's great work doubleofive but there is a key problem with it.

Why do the fighters go in with the Falcon in the first place?

One obvious answer is the more ships that go in the more chances they have of success, in that case why ram or bam the reactor with the Falcon with a larger crew than the fighters?

The next obvious answer is to protect the Falcon on it way in but that doesn't hold up because the Imperial fighters are traveling in the same direction as the Rebels (all the Rebel guns are pointing the wrong way).

If they are there to protect the Falcon the Rebels should split up and creep up behind the Imperials and pick them off or wait until the Imperials are in the tube and come in after them.

The best option I can think of (because we all want fighters in that maze with the Falcon) is that the Falcon is critically damaged in the bump that takes out the communications disk (as in my earlier post), it's going to blow up anyway so Lando sends Wedge out and rams the reactor, getting the best use of a failing resource.

You bring up a problem I've always had with the sequence.  Why do "all" the fighters (Lando calls for all of them, of which there are apparently FIVE LEFT) need to enter the DS if Lando is going to send them all back to the surface a few seconds later (which is why I moved the Executor sequence inbetween, so Lando waits a bit before sending them back, like he's almost to the reactor and is sending them away).  Six TIEs enter in after them, one exploding against the wall and three following everyone else out.  Then those two TIEs shoot at the Falcon a grand total of ONCE, and the Falcon never uses its cannons to shoot them off (unless the cannons are damaged, as you suggest).

Since we don't have shots of Billy Dee saying how the Falcon is too damaged to make the shot, we have to think of other alternatives.  Like maybe not having the other Rebel ships go with Lando.  But then you have to wonder what would happen if the Falcon didn't make it.  More runs at the reactor?  Too much like ANH.

I really don't know.

ALSO: it'd be awesome if we could find Billy Dee saying "sorry" sincerely or something apologetic as he's headed towards the reactor during my silent part.  Any ideas?

On your edit, try putting the "Luke dragging Vader to shuttle bay" scene after the Executor is destroyed.  The editing is still a little off in that the scene above feels plunked in - maybe if there was a more natural back-and-forth (regardless of whether we see Luke actually leave).

I just tried your suggestion, but while they do feel better together as they originally were, it makes it so you go straight from "That was too close" to Wedge flying out.  I tried to give the fighters more time to fly into the DS by moving the Executor forward, and give Wedge enough time to fly out by having Anakin's death there.

loved the clip, i like how sudden the explosion is. i was wondering, if you chose to do a verison 2, inserting ackbars 'shocked' look that he has when the death star explodes, maybe so there is an on screen reaction to 'that blew up a bit quicker than i imagined'.

I had tried moving Ackbar's depressed fall back into his chair from when the Executor falls to the end there, but he was standing at a railing yelling to move the fleet away, then back in his chair really quick.  I love the idea and I'm sure it could be done (I'm thinking with an all new end to the Executor, you could matte the DS in the shot of him looking at the Executor and cut to him being depressed).  It also doesn't fit in with my fade from white to Endor.

Also tried some color correction.  So much fun!

LOVE THE COLOR CORRECTION!

lol. also notice that the falcon has a green hue before enters to the deathstar tunel, but matches when is in.

Thanks.  It was my first time color correcting video, and the most I could do without mattes, which I don't think the cheapest version of Vegas will let you do (I'm doing a trial of the cheapest version to see if I want it, or if I need to spend more later), nor did I really want to do mattes for a YouTube video.  I see why some fan edits take forever, there's always ONE MORE THING you could work on. ;-)

what do you guys think of removing the line Obi-wan says to Luke about how Yoda intructed him.

I thought it could just end with their you will learn from yoda, the jedi master.

Just a thought.

I think its a good idea, but the line doesn't lend itself to cutting like that because he doesn't inflect on the phrase correctly for that meaning.  You would also have to cut out the line "Was I any different when you taught me?"

Or just cut out when you taught me and leave the" was I any different"

Again, the sentence would dangle and not sound right.

2010 is the goal i have set but there may still be a slim chance of the Xmas 2009 release. the main factor against this happening at the moment is money. building these sets and everything else is costing a lot more than i had originally anticipated. I desperately need the Fine Molds Millennium Falcon before i can begin to build the hangar set because of getting the scale right. The same goes with the asteroid canyon scene. but with the only Fine Molds models i can find are on Ebay and are about £200, a quarter of that is just shipping to the Uk, its just a case of saving up as much as i can and preying there is still one available when i get the cash. Then there is the problem of building these huge sets but living in a 1 bedroom flat and still being able to live in this place with these huge sets in my front room. That's going to be fun. Its all going to have to be done one set at a time. Then there is the depressing thought that as soon as that one set is complete and filmed it will all have to be smashed up and disposed of so i can move onto the next one.  I'm not looking forward to that.

I'm sure there's someone in the UK who would be willing to store the models for you when you're done.  Or sell them to help recoup your money...

But as I said you don't need that approach to get around Luke getting out in time, you just have him leave earlier.

Does no one like my idea of not showing him leave at all?  Have Leia's revelation that she feels that Luke is alive be both a reveal of her untrained Force ability and a revelation to the audience that Luke made it off.  So we'd see Luke mourning his father and next time burning the remains, not: mourning his father, flying a shuttle out of an exploding hanger bay at the last second, burning the remains.

Or if you really wanted, instead of the Falcon flying in front of the DS explosion, have it be Luke's shuttle.

I either need to figure out how to do some editing with the programs I have, or ask someone else to mock it up for me...

I think it's a good idea to not see Luke leaving the Death Star. It's a good exemple of "less is more".

It might seem a bit bizarre having Luke on a battered station with a dying Vader one minute and on the moon with Vader's corpse later but then it might put greater strength to Leia's knowing he survived, I guess it would be something that you could only be sure of once someone has given it a go.

I sent Davnes a PM and asked him if he could mock it up for me.  If anyone else wants to try, I can send them my notes.

Thanks for the breakdown, Ziz. I couldn't remember if the "semi-ultimate" had the trivia track or not. (actually, wasn't that where it said 'hey, that's me!' when Harrison Ford's name came up? Was that even fixed for the DVD-9?) I need to watch it again, with the trivia track on. Been a while. ;)

No, just the opposite.  The 9 is where the text is mixed up, on the 5 it's correct.

That's right, because he moved his personal credit away from being right behind Lucas', but left the commentary text.  It's more like the Special Edition credits now (Rick McCallum didn't put his name up front, why should Ady?).
