Maybe we shouldn't think of it as ONE massive explosion, but a chain reaction of explosions. Certainly the Falcon could outrun a chain reaction. With some creative editing, I think one could convey the idea of things being overloaded and exploding instead of one huge explosion working its way outward. Maybe have the DS break apart instead of just pop (the last one popped, maybe since this one isn't fully built it could just break apart?). Just a thought.

Unless you just kill off Lando. Then you don't have to do anything. (If Fishman can post his mockups, then I can certainly repost the only video one I've ever done!)

The shot they show is a cg shot from the SE doh....The section is about matte work btw

Wow. I mean, instead of basing the caption on fact, they made things up that are OBVIOUSLY wrong. Sad for that book.

It's been tough to find things that bother me about ESB, knowing the majority of them are being fixed. I've made many suggestions in this thread (some rejected, some supported), and after all this time, my idea well is running more and more dry!

But... here is one thing I've been meaning to mention for a while, and just kept forgetting to do for some reason... toward the end of the asteroid chase, just before Han finds the asteroid cave, he says "there, that looks pretty good." While he says this line, he points out the cockpit with his finger, implying he VISUALLY spotted it with nothing but the eyes he was born with...

... yet in the next shot, while Leia is asking "what looks pretty good?", the view outside of the cockpit is very clearly NOT showing a cave yet! As they continue flying, only then does the cave appear. How could Han have known there was a cave there? For all he knew, it could have just been another valley!

A fix could be just replacing the footage outside the front of the cockpit to show what Han is talking about, maybe making the cave appear a lot sooner, or making the valley bigger so that they are already flying into it when Leia says the line. Otherwise, it is just illogical to see how Han spotted a cave that he couldn't possibly have seen yet, as he kept the Falcon flying low the entire time.

"What looks pretty good?" Indeed.

um he was saying it about the "ASTEROID" it self

Why would he randomly point out the asteroid they've been flying over for a minute or so already (they lose the TIEs in a canyon on the same asteroid where he points out the cave no one can see yet)?

One of the most anticlimactic endings to a dramatic scene ("Will Vader let them through?!" "Yes, fly into the green/blue blur!") has the opportunity to become one of the most visually stunning shots in the saga.

Of course, now Endor needs to be dark in all of the previous shots:

This is the shot just before the shot of the Emperor's tower and the scene where Vader is told to wait aboard the command ship and take the fleet to the far side of the moon. I'm thinking the moon should be completely dark at this point.

Then the rest of the approach shots, where it could be getting lighter, but the sun doesn't crest until they head down towards the planet.

Ending with this shot:

As i promised. New death star with several organic works on its wip section.(still consdering the idea of ships flying around it. Or TIES to show more the scale of this metal beast)

Bingo's idea to look like eclipse in front of the sun and greater scale so its not a ball that stands there.

Please tell me this shot is in HD. I've said it before, I'll say it again: between Angel and Venal, we can do anything.

Can anyone possibly send me a hi-res screen cap (or scan) of the Emperor's shaft from Jedi? Thanks.

EDIT:

Sorry, that sounded positively sordid. Can anyone send me a hi-res screen cap or scan of the shaft the Emperor goes down in Jedi? Thanks.

The resolution for a majority of the screenshots on Wookieepedia look like they're HD. Here's the shuttle:

You should be able to Right Click and View Picture to see the full size.

However, something might have to be done to this matte to help it fit this new approach:

Its me or the shuttle element is the same with the one that is in the forest shot?

dont bother to ask about the death star :) I ll try to find a better angle of it and the correct lighting.

-Angel

Ask and it shall be given me. Your name is truly justified. ;-)

If only I had these in HD, they might replace Ady's "Sun Behind Cloud City" I've had as my background since the trailer came out...

Don't let my comment come across as I don't like your work, Venal. I love the matte, its a huge improvement! The only way it could be better is if we got the 501st to pose for a picture.

And Angel, beautiful Endor mattes. I especially like the sunrise arrival picture. However, something might have to be done to this matte to help it fit this new approach:

It's not clear where they are headed, what direction that day/night terminator is headed, or why they have to have the DS lower the shield in the first place.

Seriously, I just remembered how much that's always bothered me. Why do they have to lower the shield to land and spend at least a day approaching the shield generator? Does the shield spread out around the ground so that you can't dive bomb the generator or do exactly what the Rebels try to do? What do the Ewoks think that are trapped on the other side of the shield?

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

There are two major visual changes between the 5 and 9. The first is that instead of adding a gun to the rack in the Death Star control room...

...he deleted the gun from the later shot:

The other is that instead of crediting himself at the beginning of the credits, he moved it to the rest of the Revisited credits (kind of like how the SE credits are the same until the SE credits actually start). That's what throws off the commentary.

I'm not hot on the CGI shuttle. It just doesn't look right. Something about the nose...

I'd prefer a cleaned up matte painting shuttle, or maybe a different model. You used the one from the now-deleted SE landing, correct?

I don't know, maybe the Emperor's shuttle is different than Vader's that I posted? Beats me.

The easiest and obvious remedy for this 2004 problem is to return the hologram conversation to it's 1980 text but with Ian's voice (like what Ady has already done).

HELL NO!!!

He doesn't sound old enough to be the emperor, at least, not the one i'm used to.

ady, btw, has blended the two voices together and that works for me.

I don't think he's blended the voices... Has he? Pretty sure its just a straight edit.

hey, im back. threads have just been real dry lately. anyways...

i was watching the entire saga in order, one through six, and thought of something. don't u think vader would be a little pissed at luke because wouldn't vader blame him for padme's death? out of his own dark anger of course.

It is unknown how he officially figures out that Luke is actually his son

luke "SKYWALKER" ? i mean that would be a BIG clue

As others have said, "Skywalker" could be a very common name. Maybe that's why Lucas added the "hey, this Skywalker kid you're chasing is actually YOUR kid!" to the hologram scene. I still don't like it in the scene, but I'm beginning to understand.

Vader actually learned about Luke's full name from another Rebel that Vader had captured and interrogated. So at the time of Empire, Vader already knew that Luke was his son. The reason he asks (in the 2004 DVD version) "how is that possible?" is because he is still a bit astounded that he has a son even though he knew Padme had died.

If Skywalker was a common name, knowing his last name wouldn't help very much. ;-) And that's EU, the average person shouldn't have had to read that comic or have the prequels contradict what was already known.

Not that big a deal, and little to do with ESBR.

All Vader knows is that "in [his] anger [he] killed her", which really has nothing to do with her (a) dying in childbirth or (b) of a broken heart. It is unknown how he officially figures out that Luke is actually his son, because also as far as he knows, the child(ren) died also.

Vader blames himself, which it is his fault really. However in a better prequel, the Jedi should have been blamed for her death, justifying Vader's role in the Purge and driving him further away from his friends, instead of him blaming himself and being emo about it. DRIVE him to the dark side, don't let him kick the dirt and say "aw shucks, I killed my wife, might as well be angry at everything that moves!"

Idea: Someone could record a commentary of ANH as George Lucas. The potential for comic gold is massive. He could talk about how much he hated the movie the whole time or something.

That would be great. He could also change his facts so that he's telling different stories about the same event multiple times through the movie.

STAR WARS

EPISODE IV

Originally this didn't have the episode number, but I added it because I felt this was the somewhere in the middle of a 12 movie saga...

(While Obi-wan is telling Luke about his father)

I always wanted to do nine movies, and felt that this movie was the first part of the middle section and Obi-Wan is basically giving an overview of the prequel trilogy.

(The Death Star Battle)

This was always going to be the biggest battle of the six movie saga until I got to the prequels.

(The closing credits)

What a great ending to a perfect stand-alone movie. The Empire is defeated, our heroes win!

Something like that, but better.

Sorry if I ever gave that impression, Chronus. I just help where I can credits/lists wise, but I am not an "official" part of these edits by any means. I enjoy screenshotting the comparison shots, but the one most people see (the ANHR Visual Comparison) was just suggested by me and hosted under my name, Ady did all the work!
