STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

There are two major visual changes between the 5 and 9. The first is that instead of adding a gun to the rack in the Death Star control room...

...he deleted the gun from the later shot:

The other is that instead of crediting himself at the beginning of the credits, he moved it to the rest of the Revisited credits (kind of like how the SE credits are the same until the SE credits actually start). That's what throws off the commentary.

I'm not hot on the CGI shuttle. It just doesn't look right. Something about the nose...

I'd prefer a cleaned up matte painting shuttle, or maybe a different model. You used the one from the now-deleted SE landing, correct?

I don't know, maybe the Emperor's shuttle is different than Vader's that I posted? Beats me.

The easiest and obvious remedy for this 2004 problem is to return the hologram conversation to it's 1980 text but with Ian's voice (like what Ady has already done).

HELL NO!!!

He doesn't sound old enough to be the emperor, at least, not the one i'm used to.

ady, btw, has blended the two voices together and that works for me.

I don't think he's blended the voices... Has he? Pretty sure its just a straight edit.

hey, im back. threads have just been real dry lately. anyways...

i was watching the entire saga in order, one through six, and thought of something. don't u think vader would be a little pissed at luke because wouldn't vader blame him for padme's death? out of his own dark anger of course.

It is unknown how he officially figures out that Luke is actually his son

luke "SKYWALKER" ? i mean that would be a BIG clue

As others have said, "Skywalker" could be a very common name. Maybe that's why Lucas added the "hey, this Skywalker kid you're chasing is actually YOUR kid!" to the hologram scene. I still don't like it in the scene, but I'm beginning to understand.

Vader actually learned about Luke's full name from another Rebel that Vader had captured and interrogated. So at the time of Empire, Vader already knew that Luke was his son. The reason he asks (in the 2004 DVD version) "how is that possible?" is because he is still a bit astounded that he has a son even though he knew Padme had died.

If Skywalker was a common name, knowing his last name wouldn't help very much. ;-) And that's EU, the average person shouldn't have had to read that comic or have the prequels contradict what was already known.

Not that big a deal, and little to do with ESBR.

All Vader knows is that "in [his] anger [he] killed her", which really has nothing to do with her (a) dying in childbirth or (b) of a broken heart. It is unknown how he officially figures out that Luke is actually his son, because also as far as he knows, the child(ren) died also.

Vader blames himself, which it is his fault really. However in a better prequel, the Jedi should have been blamed for her death, justifying Vader's role in the Purge and driving him further away from his friends, instead of him blaming himself and being emo about it. DRIVE him to the dark side, don't let him kick the dirt and say "aw shucks, I killed my wife, might as well be angry at everything that moves!"

Worst Edit Ideas

Idea: Someone could record a commentary of ANH as George Lucas. The potential for comic gold is massive. He could talk about how much he hated the movie the whole time or something.

That would be great. He could also change his facts so that he's telling different stories about the same event multiple times through the movie.

STAR WARS

EPISODE IV

Originally this didn't have the episode number, but I added it because I felt this was the somewhere in the middle of a 12 movie saga...

(While Obi-wan is telling Luke about his father)

I always wanted to do nine movies, and felt that this movie was the first part of the middle section and Obi-Wan is basically giving an overview of the prequel trilogy.

(The Death Star Battle)

This was always going to be the biggest battle of the six movie saga until I got to the prequels.

(The closing credits)

What a great ending to a perfect stand-alone movie. The Empire is defeated, our heroes win!

Something like that, but better.

Sorry if I ever gave that impression, Chronus. I just help where I can credits/lists wise, but I am not an "official" part of these edits by any means. I enjoy screenshotting the comparison shots, but the one most people see (the ANHR Visual Comparison) was just suggested by me and hosted under my name, Ady did all the work!

THE STAR WARS SAGA - 1080P AVCHD DVD-9 for PS3 & Blu-Ray players - Episodes 1, 4 & 5 available now
Time

Currently downloading the torrents for EPIV and EPV. I'm excited to finally see this! Once I get them, my friend set me up with a virtual BD drive, so I'm assuming I can watch the iso through that. Eventually I'll figure out how to convert it to something I can stream through my 360, if that's possible. Or at least downconvert it far enough to fit on a single sided DVD (of which I have plenty) so I don't have to cringe at the blue whenever I need a Star Wars fix.

Making our own 35mm preservation--my crazy proposal
Time

Ady's news is great news. I would love if this was available as both a faded version and a color-corrected version, in the far future of it possibly happening. Just to remind people of the current state of the print:

Of course, these are flatbed scans by -1 by hand and are by no means perfect. And this is only Reel 6, who knows about the state of the rest.

As always please forgive the roughness of this mockup :

Gunnermockup

Lookin good! I think if we had a matte of just the window, we could have new gunner elements shot and added so its not the same guys with their arms crossed...

Considering that the Imperials are not seen at all from the front, the shot could easily be flipped, to distance it away from being too recognizable as the same footage from ANH. Just a thought, though I don't know how convincing it could look. I suppose it would depend on how long the actual shot lasted. The shorter the better I would assume.

Its not so much it yelling "reused shot!" that I'm afraid of, its the fact that they literally have their arms crossed just watching the ships fly by. It might work in a quick shot however...
