I noticed that when I was doing my Lando Sacrifice video. Made me sad. Nice job fixing it!
Bobocop said:Not sure what you mean by spoof lightsaber blades.
All I did was cut and paste footage basically.
Whatever, pink sabers? Day-glo green sabers? You messed with something, that can't be footage from an official release.
What's that? Someone actually said this was OK and finalized it as the "definitive" version of Star Wars looking like that?!
TV's Frink said:brash_stryker said:True, we didn't have Ric Olie standing there saying "that's the reactor core you're throwing him into."
If Ric Olie didn't explain it, it didn't happen. That's why only EP 1 exists, and everything else (including this forum) is a figment of my imagination.
Thank the maker that Ric Olie was in the hospital room to say "TV's Frink was just born!"
Your obsession with Ric has earned you another signature!

Vader's head, hand, and feet go OVER this black area. I think it actually is an unfinished matte! The lines are too straight across that pole area to be simply unfinished set. They tried to cover it up by starting a matte, but not finishing I guess. If they wanted it to be interpreted as the bridge, they wouldn't have had to rotoscope Vader's body parts over it, they could have just splashed more black and be done with it.
One could go with either Angel's awesome fix, or just unrotoscope Vader from in front of it and have it be the interpretation TMBTM saw.
Thanks to Bobocop, you can watch this over and over and over and over...

Wait, discovery, proving Angel is very correct coming soon!

Notice the lack of roof set.

Great work!
But it looks more like the footbridge we see Luke on (later on) than a lack of roof set (?) The camera is just under that footbridge, that's all (a nice trick to not make a roof set though :) I agree!)
Love the lights, the sparks, the reflections, but I think TMBTM is right, its makes sense that its the Footbridge to Nowhere.
The black looks like a matte, I admit, but its empty. Why would they take the time to matte out the rest of the set by hand and not put anything there? Also, it seems rather random with its extensions down. It is odd that it lines up perfectly with where you made those pieces light up though... Maybe they framed the shot under the bridge to cover the set from that angle?
Darth Venal said:I'm wondering why so many people keep referring to the shaft in Palpatine's throne room as the reactor core. That's not what it is at all, unless you're suggesting we can see 450km down that thing. Let's remember that the throne room is atop a very tall tower, and I reckon that shaft only reaches to the actual surface of the Death Star. At a standard Earth gravity, which is clearly how all the ships in Star Wars seem to work, it would take Palpatine three hours to hit the reactor core.
That's really funny to me. I'm just imagining him waiting for the impact and it taking FOREVER.
Remember when the EU had all "Good" Jedi disappear and all "Dark" Jedi explode like Palps? That was odd. Do they still do that?

Why is that? well i got mines via google :)
But he wouldn't be able to get all six of them via the Google if there's only 3 done!

vaderios said:How far can push ROTJ's edit into a microscopic level? lol
When Leia is turning the big gun on jabba's ship. in the close up for 3 frames her eyes look in the camera before she look into the right position. Easy fix but hard noticeable. The same goes to Chewie in the lamda shuttle

Grain of sand, Chewie's foot? Can't get more microscopic than HotRod!

ROTJ ESB

Heaven forbid the guy look out the same window in the same place giving off almost identical reflections. OK, so its either a reused shot, or they lit him exactly the same 3 years apart. At least the stars are different?
Awesome, congrats! A distinct honor. Ganamae (and hopefully some of his close friends at home) can enjoy an exclusive look at the work done so far. Take good notes!
fishmanlee said:why is he at the bottom by the oil drum? with MARIO SKYPLUMBER above him? i thought he was supposed to be "safe"
WHOOSH!
That's the sound of the joke going over fishman's head.
Why would they do trailers on 16mm? I thought theaters wouldn't use that film. Heck, I'm not sure why (most of) ANH is on 16mm, just that you did a project with it!
Still, if it doesn't go higher $30 is worth it, I would think. Its like a mystery box!
Bingowings said:You clearly haven't understood the illustration (even though it is fully explained in the text) this is a diagonal wipe describing a transition of time (perhaps a clockwipe would make it more obvious).
We see the Republic era ships replaced by ships from the same era as ANH (time has passed).
Now we can see the Death Star being built but it's not being built right after the end of the Clone Wars but about half a decade before ANH after the Empire is fully established and their starfleet has been upgraded to what we see in the OT.
Bingowings said:Perhaps the motion of a TIE-fighter could cover the wipe (nothing says OT to me more than a TIE) :
I like the idea, I like it a lot. What will be the last shot of the movie in that case? The construction of the DS maybe? Oh my gosh, I can't remember what the ending is currently! It's been completely removed from my brain? I remember all the things that happen, but the order is completely gone! Good for me, I guess, huh?
brash_stryker said:Post edited. Had missed Ady's post stating that those 2 things would be the only things changed. Sorry.
Playing catch up and getting really excited about something isn't anything to apologize for. You should have been with me as I was catching up on the whole thread, wanting to bring YEARS old conflicts back out. ;-)
Ady might revisit Revisited, but only to tweak the droid needle and restore the spinning starfield. That's it.
More suggestions should go on the "After Ady" thread, I suppose.
Keys to the release candidate were available up until last week. They're good till March, when the system starts shutting down every two hours. A friend of mine built me a new (to me) machine and since he really didn't have any licenses just threw W7 on it. I like it, little learning curve, but I haven't used it too much just yet.
vaderios said:doubleofive said:Maybe it could be pitch dark and the light is coming from it being reflected off of the Planet Endor?
Id like to see that. Images explain better than my poor English can understand :)
We should imagine the Planet Endor as our moon, and the Sanctuary Moon as Earth. If the Planet is only seen over the dark surface of the Moon, you could use the sun reflecting off of the Planet to light scenes when the Moon is dark. Add glimpses of the Planet Endor in the sky when its dark on the surface and we'd be set!
EDIT: I threw together an idea of what I mean. You'll have to forgive the crudity of this model, I haven't put any software on this new machine of mine:

Made in Windows 7 Paint. :-) Not to scale.
Anyway, PE revolves around the sun and the SM's orbit always puts it in the way of the sun, so every night the night is lit by the light reflecting off of PE. The DS2 is in a geostationary orbit above the shield generator which revolves around from day to night as normal. If we make PE far enough away from SM, there wouldn't be a huge SM shadow on the surface, and if you make PE a neutral color it would explain the moonlight in the Ewok Village! Therefore, if the Death Star was on the opposite side of the Sanctuary Moon from the sun, it could be lit from light reflecting off of the Planet Endor.
WHEW!
vaderios said:What if:
1.Instead of the executor and all the fleet suddenly arrives from nowhere having them jumping out from hyperspace.
We'd have to change the Emperor's line about moving the "fleet to the far side of the Sanctuary Moon. There it will stay.... until called for."
2. The rebel fleet is near sullust. Can we see the system/planet on the ship concentration?
I don't see why not. But they are massing NEAR Sullust, not AT Sullust, so it's not necessary.
3. The death star have a more impressive/extented explosion aka what Darth Venal posted as Alderaan's destruction?
It would be awesome if it fell apart in huge chunks instead of popping.
4.
Very yes.
Ripplin said:doubleofive said: how freaking big is some of that welding to be seen from this distance from something that big?If it was out in the open (unobstructed view), I think you could even see the light from a regular little ol' Earth welding torch at that distance because it's so insanely retina-burning bright.
I'd like to see a GIF of that with little lights blinking here and there. Maybe some little dots buzzing around to indicate small robots or ships doing work, too.
Yes, but also think about how MASSIVE DS2 is and how small the Executor is when it crashes into it. Each of those welds is probably bigger than the Super Star Destroyer!
vaderios said:doubleofive said:I'm thinking the moon should be completely dark at this point.
Almost because if its black we lose the sense of space and perspective. Or we can add Endor behind the moon to add depth.
I added some Fleet and vader's ship (where did it go?)
-Angel
These are getting better by the post. We need details, like how much of this is CGI, how much is painted, how did you figure what the half-complete Death Star would look from whatever angle, how freaking big is some of that welding to be seen from this distance from something that big?
Maybe it could be pitch dark and the light is coming from it being reflected off of the Planet Endor?
Here's a screenshot from WookieGroomers GOUT vs DVD:

No original shot, and the red lighting on that Stormtrooper wouldn't be there if that was an actor being blue screened. There very well may have been a physical hanger model, but everything else in this shot is 100% CGI.
Any chance of getting a scan of the picture out of the book? Be nice to have around as a OT.com "Fail" picture.
