Apparently I still have my Episode 1 ticket stub. I don't know how. Ah, the days when movie tickets weren't $12 a pop... $5 even at the fancy tehaters.

I may still have all 5 of mine.  I did keep them around for the longest time.

Five? you ask.  It was the first new Star Wars movie I ever saw in theaters.  I had to absorb it.

Better than Episode 2 that I watched twice in a row.

I too use a dumbphone, because I do not believe in modern technology. I only use it out of necessity. If it were up to me, I'd ride a horse around and grow/raise my own food, not this bullshit slave culture we have built for ourselves where we have to work 40+ hours week for little notes claiming to be of value with no real backing behind them, and all these ridiculous financial obligations we have made for ourselves. I'd rather be reading by sunlight and staying warm by the fire. But, since nobody else thinks that way, there really isn't a choice unless you want to be cut off from the world, which I don't. So yeah, all that to say my dumbphone works for me.

This is exactly the post I was hoping for.  Thanks ThreePeeEcks!

When are we going to playing Xbox Live together, or does that not fit into your "staying warm by the fire" 5 year plan?

So, what smartphones does everyone use?

I'm going from a dumbphone(?) to my wife's iPhone 3G this week so she can get a Motorola Backflip (as the only things she really uses the iPhone for is Facebook and Google stuff, which is all built into the Backflip).  Then in July I'm going to upgrade the iPhone 3G to a 3Gs or 4G/HD (whatever they end up calling it).  I've had an iPod Touch for a couple years and use it all the time at home, so I look forward to being able to do my stuff from anywhere.

But enough about me, what's everyone else's setup?  Are some of you still using dumbphones?  If so, why?

And what happened to the guy in the window? I take it that the person in the window is standing on the gang plank just inside the door, so why is he not there when Kirk and Scott walk onto the Enterprise? Where did he vanish to? It's not the young officer that greets Kirk. We clearly see him arrive in the turbo lift.

Yeah, I circled him in yellow because he looks too big for the window, and yeah, he's not there when they arrive.  Maybe he scampered off.  He doesn't look like he belongs, just staring out at the approaching Admiral. ;-)

Beats me.  Did they save TMP for last when they brought out the single-disc sets and made it the DE?

In other news, it looks like the windows near the docking port are too close to the port:

Maybe we should see them in the straight on shot further away, but by these frames we probably shouldn't.  It's not a huge thing, just something I noticed.

Where are you getting that idea?  The theatrical version was released on DVD many times before the blu-ray and on other formats. The only original ST film not to be released in its theatrical form before the blu-rays came out was STVI.

I know what you mean about making do during childhood though.  I read novelisations of most of the OS series episodes before I saw them, as we never had much money to buy films.  I even read the novelisation of the Wrath of Khan before I saw the film.

Forgot about the single-disc DVD.  OK, so I may have had many opportunities to see the theatrical version, but never took any of them. :-P

I am just curious if this whole thread is about you guys speculating on something you don't even have or watched.

Of course!

I figured as much, all of you are starting to sound like skyjedi now,he is so full of hate towards GL and SW and you guys along with sky it appears against PJ and LOTR.

I wouldn't go that far.  We think that New Line has done something wrong with the transfer for the Fellowship of the Ring Blu-ray.  This is just as justifiable as complaining about the transfers for the 2004 SE or GOUT.  We're not hating on the movies or PJ, we're hating on what looks like digital smearing, which happens all the time on Blu-rays.  It's a transfer problem, not that we hate the trilogy because we think "The Hobbit 2" is a bad idea.

I'm not going to buy it because I was going to wait for the Extended Editions anyway.  Hopefully due to the public outcry on this, they'll have time to make sure the EE BR doesn't have the same issues.

And I'm 25. So what?

Oh, if you do manage to get the Special Longer Edition from Fan, let me know. I've requested the updated version, but he hasn't replied to me yet. :(

My dad hates TMP, so he never showed it to me as a kid.  I was reluctant to buy it at all, it was one of the last DVDs I bought just to complete the set.  Thankfully I like it enough now.

The reason I know so much trivia about Star Trek is that my dad bought me the first edition of the Star Trek Encyclopedia.  And I read it.  Several times.  I only have this encyclopedic knowledge to a pre-Voyager era, plus I've seen all of Voyager.  Everything else is just what I've gathered from Memory Alpha and other internet sources.

I was a sad child. ;-)

That's odd. You seem to be a pretty knowledgeable person when it comes to movies, trivia and all sorts of stuff five. Now that you're here showcasing all this stuff about recutting TMP, you've never seen the theatrical cut?! This is so odd.

I'm 26, the only way I would have seen the theatrical cut is with the new Blu-ray and I couldn't convince my wife to let me re-buy all of the Star Trek movies to get it. ;-)

Did Ady just upload an HD copy of Raiders? I don't recall if any work was done on it.  In fact, I barely recall this at all...

Baseball has marked the time

I've been to a few minor league games (Indianapolis Indians, Knoxville Smokies).

I was also in Eight Men Out.

No seriously, they filmed some of the ballpark scenes in Indianapolis, I'm in the crowd during one of the games, several times even as they couldn't fill the whole stadium.  I've never seen the movie or found myself in it, but I'm there.

Anybody have the DVD?  I can ask my mom what scenes we were there for.  Maybe we can find me.
