STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **
Time

Luke can pick up things with the Force without having been trained in ESB. He has the ability to progress without Yoda. For all we know, Yoda was just trying to keep Luke safe and hidden on Dagobah and the training was never really going to end. Once he shows up, Yoda reveals the truth, that he can’t teach him anything else.

If Luke already waited 6-12 months to go back to Yoda, what difference would it make if he went back one week or the next? And doesn’t it make just as much sense for him to have resolved the mission he set himself on before returning to Yoda? “I totally failed to save my friends, and still haven’t saved them, so I’m sure you’re really disappointed in me. Oh, you’re dead.”

I only have one suggestion for this, but I think it improves the film greatly:
Start the film with Luke on Dagobah
It just makes so much more sense

Do you have friends?
How long would you let them hangin on a wall? Weeks? Month? If they survive that long at all.

Luke does not need training to face Jabba. He wasn’t ready for Vader, but he was already very good. All he needs is to recover, and come up with a plan.

BTW ain’t all rebel plans seem completely stupid?
In Rogue One, they fly into an Imperial installation with zero planning, and as a result they die. Then a whole fleet follows with zero planning, and most of them die.
In TNH they attack the Death Star with 30 fighters (lol) trying to hit a small hole.
4 ships survive. One of them is not a rebel ship.
In ESB they fight AT-ATs with snowspeeders, that have no chance to even scratch them with their lasers. If not for Luke, Rogue Squadron dies, and every single Imperial soldier goes home without a scratch.
And in ROTJ the whole Alliance is walking into a trap.
Safe to say, they are really not that good at planning.

Fair point. I guess my thinking is that it resolves the coincidence that Yoda does right when he shows up.

Blah blah blah, the Force. It’s the answer for everything. 😉

4K restoration on Star Wars

With Indy 5 hitting theaters in July of 2020, I wonder how Paramount will handle the rollout of the first four on UHD. The 2012 blu-ray transfers of Temple and Crusade used the 2008 masters (which showed up as the WoWoW broadcasts around that time), but those were only finished at 2k unless I’m mistaken. Maybe they’ll redo those scans to take advantage of the extra resolution. Raiders was redone yet again with a 6k scan and 4k finish. Crystal Skull was finished at 2k (at least according to imdb), which is too bad but it makes sense considering all the cgi, none of which would’ve been rendered above that resolution.

Most(?) movies are finished at 2k, so this isn’t unprecedented. The real benefit of UHD is the expanded color profile.

Well he attempted to make it scarier with the added glow; just thought there might be an alternative way in doing so.

I liked your suggestion of the needle slowly extending out as the probe droid comes towards us…but having been lucky enough to get a preview pic a while back, I can confirm that adywan’s latest (still under wraps) version is FANTASTIC and a really satisfying improvement.

VERY interesting.

The worst thing about SWGOH is it causes me to use prequel characters like Darth Sidious.

Who has two lightsabers? Very odd.

He uses two in The Clone Wars, for what it’s worth.

It’s probably to “explain” where he got another one in ROTS after he lost his in the Windu duel. “He had two all along, see?!” 😒

I forgot this.

 1. Even ignoring the PT, many people have complained that DS2 was nearing completion in too short a time, so I thought that a less completed version might mitigate that complaint.

Once you know how to design/build something, it would more than likely take a much shorter time to do it again.

Was about to say the same.
Plus you already have experience, you know the flaws, you know what to correct etc…
I would build the same, but better.

An Empire had to start growing, and because of that, the research still being done, and all of the production delays, it took a whole 19 years for the Death Star I to be fully finished. It only took 4 years for the Death Star II to be built because by then, the Empire was in full power.

And it sounds like the book canon says that they finished the superstructure years ago, it just took them a decade to make the weapon work. Now that they know how to do that, they just have to mount the weapon on a frame and hook it up to a reactor.

Did anyone catch The Orville on Fox? I heard it’s playing it mostly straight and not the wacky Trek spoof the promos made it out to be. Which begs the question of how it’s going to avoid a big fat lawsuit from Paramount.

Because Paramount doesn’t own a copyright on science fiction? Even if they played it completely straight, they’re not stealing anything.

The interior of the Sentinel’s cockpit is similar to the Lambda’s anyway (unlike the Zeta), so he wouldn’t have to change anything there.

So does the exterior nose, which means some background replacement for the docking bay set instead of replacing every set piece.

I am, however, very much in favor of seeing a string of thousands of various cargo/construction crafts moving between the Death Star and the moon, which can include the Zeta-class; for there it makes sense and I hope we see it.

I was thinking of this too, but does the current dialog on the Star Destroyer allow for Tydirium to just be one of hundreds they’ve seen today? And would they all have to pass right over the Destroyer and “fly casual”?

It would be cool to see dozens of shuttles milling about the Death Star, but since the moon only contains the shield generator and this is operational, there shouldn’t be many craft traveling that way. So perhaps Tydirium is in a line of shuttles headed for the Death Star but breaks away for the moon, taking it across the path of the destroyer.

“Where is that shuttle going?” Could work!
