Had a big thing written up, but I’m going to leave the link to his posts here and let people draw their own conclusions.
I guess I don’t poke in this subforum very often. JP3 seemed like an odd enough choice that I took a closer look. I still don’t get why we’re preserving everything, but if the mods don’t have a problem with it, by all means, continue.
Looking at a print for color reference in fan preservations is one thing, scanning something in 4K and only giving the result to those that donate sounds really questionable. And listing those people is inviting even more problems.
I think we’re saying that some random person is trying to unfreeze Han all of a sudden! Oh, its Leia.
Is there something wrong with the existing legal official release?
I guess seeing Chewie for the first time emerging from the shadows would be pretty cool. Still doesn’t explain why you would jail the two famous smugglers in the same cell…
But seriously, you shouldn’t have to sit with people watching your edit and saying “Luke just finished reading Obi-wan’s journals, but Leia and Lando have been reporting to him in the meantime.”
I doubt that the rescue sequence could ever be made to make perfect sense, with the limitation of available footage, but with certain changes and the imagination, it sure can make better sense 😃

Thanks to him and ImageShack, the mockups are mostly gone, but the list is just private if I had the momentum to clean it up.

What is the list inside this link? Just listing all suggestions made so far by everyone? Or just from yourself? I take it from the italics and strike through comments that it’s not an official list which I’m grateful for if it means none of the PT inspired changes make it in! I read the suggestion about replacing the advisors with Nemoidians and nearly puked! A lot of the other suggested changes are pretty solid and good but I can’t stand the thought of defiling an OT movie with PT aspects!! I already hate GL just for Hayden’s head on Shaw’s body…

This was a 5 year old compilation of suggestions/mockups from another thread.
Just got to say that some of the suggestions I’ve read in here such as Regularjoe and Bingowings above (as well as others many pages back now) verge on the fan edit territory if not outright “re-imagined” territory for some suggestions and I really hope Adywan sticks to his guns on making “what the SEs should have been”. That is to enhance what is already there, fix all the little niggles and continuity issues and overall elevate the original movie to something really special like he’s already done for ANH and TESB.
We’re all here because we loved the original movies, cutting out parts like Kenobi or Yoda’s death or adding in PT inspired changes will all contribute to actually ruining the movie for many people for various reasons instead of EVERYONE still being able to enjoy and love an even better version and proper SE of ROTJ, warts and all. If there are certain things you want to change for yourself then take the end result of ROTJ:R as a base and make an actual fan edit.
Anyway, I’m not here to tell Adywan what to do with ROTJ:R, that’s just my opinion on the matter and it just shocked me a bit when reading through and expecting to see people offering up details of things to fix and ways to improve the movie to an SE version but instead seeing many suggestions that would completely alter the story and movie itself.

Like I said recently “What The Special Editions Should Have Been” was a tagline I came up with. Adywan has said he’s planning for this to be an actual fan edit, not a fan fix.
IIRC, Adywan has already taken care of this.
I haven’t had time to go through every comment yet, but here are a few things that WON’T be happening in ROTJ:R -
Extra Boba Fett / Boba Surviving - Boba is going to die ( someone already guessed the one way i’m planning on killing him 😉 )

I think we have to remember the spirit of these edits. It is my impression these are meant to be “What the Special Editions should have been”.
To be fair, I came up with that tagline, and Adywan has said RotJR has more structural changes than the last two edits. Just not as drastic as some seem to crave.
The canon firmly establishes that ROTJ takes place one year after the events of TESB.
How?
Every bit of official information around says that in the Star Wars universe, TESB takes place 3 ABY (3 years after the Battle of Yavin), and ROTJ takes place 4 ABY.
Where does it say that in the films? And what is ABY, in which scene they mention such acronym? To me it always seemed pretty vague how much time had passed between each movie.
“After Battle of Yavin” is the acronym, but you’re right, they don’t say it in the movie so it doesn’t matter for this edit.
You know what doesn’t matter? How long it was between movies. It’s not like there’s dialog that needs to be changed to “fix” this. How would one even establish how long it was unless one changed the opening crawl to be “It’s been a week since HAN SOLO was captured. LUKE SKYWALKER has thrown together a bad plan that doesn’t make any sense, hoping it will work so Han can lead a team to help destroy the second DEATH STAR, which is also a thing.”
Thank god Boba is gonna die. Also great to hear that Lando is gonna die.
