...this is even more tragic than 005 choosing Mad Men [a decent show] over Breaking Bad [the best show ever?].
I don't think I'll ever get my wife back into BB. She's dealing with a jury trial this week concerning a guy making meth, so she had to handle all of the evidence. The smell lingers.

In other news, the judge bought all four seasons of Mad Men on Black Friday because they were on sale, and gave them to us since we liked the show. While we could have watched them all on Netflix, I now have bonus features, which I love to have. Caught up this weekend, not sure how we'll keep up. I should see if my in-laws have AMC, and while I'm at it, BBC America...

I never thought I'd miss VCRs. I don't want to use my in-laws to watch shows (that I couldn't even watch if we hadn't dropped our satellite).

We started watch New Girl (starring Zooey Deschanel) on Hulu. It's pretty funny so far.

I, TOO, HAVE MET SIR CHARLES.
I shoock the hand that at one point shook the hand of DAYV? I'm honored to have Sir Charles be the proxy between us!
So when you shake the hand of a celebrity, you also shake the hand of everyone who shook the hand of the celebrity...

I'm wearing gloves from now on.
I'm sure Barkley has shaken the hands of Wilt Chamberlain...

My brain just exploded.

As with all things Revisited, I hope the creed remains "Do it right, even it takes forever".
But for something most of us including Adywan can't see the difference, even when it's pointed out. I'm not saying we see the difference and don't think its a big deal, we can't see the difference.

If someone can make a video showing how much better it will look at 24 frames a second, I'm sure Adywan will consider it.

I wish I could see what you guys see.....Clearly I don't have an eye for this sort of thing. To me it's the same identical pic. And that's with pressing my eyeballs up to an IPS screen.
Take a look at Luke's face area. In the second pic, it's a teensy-weensy bit less blurry.
He's right. Definitely worth redoing all of the effects. Thanks, Angel.

The "I met a famous person" thread
Time

I've traveled to our east coast facilities twice. The first time, on the way back from DC I met Senator Dick Lugar (IN). The second time, Charles Barkley (NBA Star). The lady in front of me said as we were passing through First Class "Is that Shaq?". I said "No, it's Charles Barkley!" I introduced myself and shook his hand as we passed by, but I didn't want to crowd the line and didn't have anyone to take our picture anyway. I saw him once we got back to Indianapolis also, but I didn't go up to him.

One of my uncles went to high school with Jeff Gordon (NASCAR), so I've met him once.

My dad's girlfriend is related to Jared from the Subway commercials, though I haven't met him yet. Strangely enough, my wife HAS; her ex from high school was related to him from the other side.

I barely remember meeting Mohammad Ali at a toy drive once when I was very little.

Another one of my uncles worked in Hollywood. Once he was working on a movie with Michael Keaton, and my parents sent him a picture of my dressed up as Batman out there. He got it signed "From one Batman to another". Unfortunately I haven't seen it since my parents divorced 20 years ago. Both claim the other has it in a photo album, but neither can find it.

I was helping out with Fan Filtration's The Motion Picture edit and emailed Doug Trumbull about the original color of the Klingon ships. He actually responded the next day. I also asked Daren Dochterman if he wanted to help, but he declined, though we did have a discussion about the colors of the ships as well.

I emailed JW Rinzler complaining about all of the shots from the SE in his Making of books and he updated his blog a couple weeks later saying that it was brought to his attention and would be fixed in the next printing. He didn't actually respond to me, but it counts.

Felicia Day responded to one of my tweets once: http://twitter.com/#!/feliciaday/status/123211536876580865

As you can see, I have light brushes with fame. Not sure why. I've never gotten anyone's phone number, that's awesome that he did that for you. THAT'S customer service!

Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Extended Edition coming to Blu-Ray

NECROPOST!

I got this set and have been going through the movies bit by bit. FotR does have some tinting, but its not all through the movie, and not so much that anyone would notice unless they we're looking for it. The most surprising part to me is that TTT also has tinting all over it. If you look for it, you'll see it, but the the tints on FotR are just as "bad" as the rest.

The quality is incredible, and the movies are still just as powerful as they were when I first watched them.

I can't believe the "final" workprint I have is from a year and a half ago. So much has changed with the project!
Question about the workprint... If that had been the final cut; would you be happy?
Besides a couple rough effects, without a doubt.

Either way, the eye can have a hard time seeing a difference between shades of white in a picture. Look here:

http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/9792/whitetest.png

This picture is divided into 4 squares, the upper left being tinted red, upper right green, lower left blue and lower right pure white. I bet on some monitors it's even impossible to see the difference because of the monitor itself.
I have two monitors here at work, a laptop one and an external one. On the laptop I can't see any difference, on the external I really can.

Note to self: stop using Photoshop on the laptop screen.
