STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Yes, everything is gone, the DVD-9 is as high quality as it can go currently, so it must be remade from scratch. Now that we have an HD source (Adywan only got the broadcast HD at the tail end of production on ANHR), it will be made in 720p from start to finish. I can't wait to see what Ady does with his new skills.

Does anyone know if Adywan still has his original working files for this?

I'm curious, because ANH:R looks better than the original DVD, yet has been reencoded and still (very slightly) suffers from the compression limitations of MPEG 2.

I know previously I'd asked about an upconverted release (which Ady pointed out would be pointless).

With that in mind, I was wondering if a 480p AVCHD release could be made, using H.264 for much better compression, or perhaps even a BluRay release using lossless H.264?
ANHRHD details

EDIT: MUDDYKNEES!!!!

'Kay I can't change things to be better if no one criticizes what I put on my twitter. In short first complaint is you! So go ahead constructively criticize what I should do to make it better.
I just don't get tumblr, its not your fault. If I really had a problem with it, I'd unfollow you. ;-)

Will George Lucus keep editing the movies?

It gets to the point when you have to ask: "How much change is enough?" If he change the movies too much, these movie would start to look very different from the original ones. That is when change can be a bad thing. I hope to read other interesting posts here at http://www.originaltrilogy.com
A spambot that actually is relevant to the conversation? (check out the site on his profile)

It's just an easy way to resell the series - "Come and watch/buy this! It's got loads of new stuff you haven't seen before!"

It's a proven technique.
But a lot of the time they won't even mention that they made more changes. It's just assumed now.

And to answer the original post: I have no doubt in my mind that each new format will bring new changes.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

UPDATE:

From Adywan:

Ok guys, i've been quiet lately due to the fact that my internet sucks. had little or no connection for days now and i'm having to use a pre-pay mobile internet dongle, which give you no internet time at all. I'm down to my last 30p credit on it and i refuse to pay for any more, especially when i'm already paying for net use with my ISP. Doesn't look like the problem is going to get fixed any time soon either(crappy TalkTalk). when i do get a landline connection it has been 32kbit/s, which is slower than bloody dial up.

This is why he hasn't been able to respond to anything recently. Work continues offline though. He said on Facebook the last week that he had been up for 48 hours working on a single shot!

EDIT: Yes, we were fighting for who would update you all first. Well, no one can out Twitter me!

Jambe and I are planning a commentary for the Blu-rays. Unfortunately since I don't have ANH, we might have to start with Empire, which wouldn't be strange for Jambe...
Neat! Sign me up...

Wait, how do you not have ANH?

Blu-Ray and other HD box size STAR WARS covers
Time

I got 5 and 6 on Blu from a going-out-of-business Blockbuster, so now that I have ESF's covers for the Harmys, I need individual covers for the 2011 SE's. The problem is that I like too many of the covers here. They are way too good for these editions. I'm asking Video Collector for his leatherized template, then I'm going to modify them for individual use.

For example, I love that ESF's covers use the original titles on the spine with no super-titles or episode numbers. So I'll probably have the episode number on the spine, similar to the DVDs and have "2011 Special Edition" under the title of the movie, keeping the big "STAR WARS" at the top. As for the front and back, I'll probably leave them pretty simple, unless I go all out and have some art for the front and some of my Visual Comparisons on the back...
