I forgot to say the only thing I'm disappointed in so far is to make the starship interiors easier to navigate, they're 3 or 4 times bigger than they should be. The corridors are probably 25 feet tall, the warp core itself is probably 10 feet wide and 100 feet tall, the bridge has a lot of empty space. Exterior ship scale works (the starting ship is tiny, especially going up against one of the damaged Borg cubes in the training mission), so I was kind of bummed about that.

While its neat to each have your own ship, I was hoping when STO was first announced that it would be more like each "guild" would have its own ship, the more players you had running the ship, the more efficient your ship would run. I imagined the Chief Engineering having to do a minigame in Engineering to re-route power while Tactical was targeting weapons and Navigation was maneuvering, with the Captain giving orders. Everyone having your own ship and NPC crew is also neat and lets you play alone I guess, but I'm still holding out hope to stand in Engineering and reroute power.

This is also the first game I can remember where you can customize your character to have a beer belly. Love it.

The Mrs and I started playing Star Trek Online last night. It's quite a lot for being completely free. The only things that seem to cost make the game easier (having more slots for bridge officers) or are purely aesthetic (make your ship look like Kirk's Enterprise). They even sell one of the currencies.

I got what I wanted out of it, the starting ship can be a Miranda-class (like the Reliant from Wrath of Khan), which mine is named "U.S.S. Indianapolis", captained by "Lt. O'Five". My wife has a custom ship (you can use pieces from three similar classes to make your own style), the "U.S.S. Tyberius", captained by "Lt. Mrs. Paris".

Fun stuff.

I don't get why this wasn't called 'John Carter of Mars' anyways, stupid disney.
After watching the movie, I understand. It wasn't about him being "of Mars", it was about him becoming it. The title screen at the beginning which mirrored the one at the end showed that. I actually appreciated it after that.

And apparently all of the marketing, including the name change, was done by the director, Andrew Stanton, not Disney.

My girlfriend, who was a huge fan of the book, hated that movie.  She said that, not only did it not follow the book in any way, shape, or form, but that it was completely incomprehensible to anyone who hadn't read it.  Indeed, she said several members of the group she saw it with kept turning and asking what the hell was going on.
That doesn't make any sense. It didn't follow the book, but only people that read the book could understand it?

Tried to ride this weekend, my engine light and battery light were coming on. Took it to the dealer, bad voltage regulator. Apparently some of the new bikes have been having this problem. Have to take it back up there next week for them to put it in.

Also, looks like the Nightster isn't on the 2013 model listing. I may have one of the last ones!

John Carter

Dear Xhonzi,

Allow me to take this opportunity to apologize to you and everyone else who enjoyed this movie in theaters and told me to see it. I honestly feel bad for not supporting this movie when it really mattered, for now we'll never get a sequel.

I was unsure watching it at first, it was confusing at first, but by the time it got going I was along for the ride. It was well made, decently acted, with gorgeous visual effects.

I am genuinely sorry for not listening to you. You would have thought I learned after Inception.

I will never not listen to you again, xhonzi.

Sincerely,

Five

Brave

Possibly contains Disney's first POV boob-diving sequence.  Movies really need more of these.
I hope that doesn't mean what I think it means, does it?

Superman and Lex Luthor are quite different, where one is a noble, fantastically-powered moron who is continually outwitted by a normal human with some critical thinking skills.

This assessment of the Last Son of Krypton is disingenuous to the nth degree.
Agreed, perfect.

George Lucas leaves Lucasfilm

The difference is that Star Trek TMP was a dud.  Nobody would complain if George Lucas went back and re-edited the prequels (as long as the original was available to watch and laugh at).
And that TMP:DE, which was the director's "final cut" (which he didn't have for the original release) isn't available on Blu-ray because Paramount is too cheap to re-render the new effects. To be fair, why aren't we up in arms about NOT having this "special edition"?
