The Marvel Cinematic Universe

The issue with getting X-Men, Spider-man, Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, etc back is that I cannot tell you how many complaints I see about "Why doesn't Avenger call other Avenger to help?". If there were EVEN MORE heroes in the area, the excuses as to why they couldn't help gets even more thin. Especially if you get into X-Men territory. They wouldn't even need to call people on the phone, they could just think really hard and Xavier would hear it and send Wolverine to stab people.

I believe the last time I watched "The First Avenger" I compared it to Star Wars: simple movie, good vs evil, good wins. I loved it. "Winter Soldier" is like Empire, but not just for Cap, for the whole franchise. I love how its tied into MAoS and can't wait to see what happens next.

Bingo, I think you mentioned something about the Fantastic Four reboot. Unfortunately they're rebooting it to take place in the existing X-Men Cinematic Universe (X-Verse?). So we'll still have at least 3 movie continuities, Spider-Verse, X-Verse, and MCU, with versions of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch somehow being in both the X-Verse and MCU. That won't confuse the average viewers like my dad AT ALL.

He seems to question the logic of having a desktop mode.   You agree with that?

Oops, I definitely don't agree then.  I insist on desktop mode.
All I'm b*tching is that MS tried to push the bar up, and everyone whined until they put it back down. The Desktop option is there. Always has been. Now you're going to get the Start Menu back. To be fair, I guess I do like that MS is giving you a choice, but at this point I'm not sure what you're gaining with Win8 if they're just going to downgrade it for you.

I suppose I shouldn't b*tch about this because I don't have Win8 to use it properly due to switching to Mac.

Microsoft is trying to make things more efficient, but it's harder for us ingrained into the old way of doing things. Look at the Office Ribbon. For those who knew how to do things the long way, it took them years to get used to it. If you're new to office or all of the things Excel in particular can do, the Ribbon makes everything more efficient. If driving a Ford with a joystick saved 20 MPG, you might be willing to relearn.

Do we really need to have a Start menu, or even a file system, when you can search for whatever you want? I don't even use the Start Menu on Win7 or OSX, I search for everything. It's about making your workflow more smooth.

But, alas, every time MS tries to push something forward, they have to drag it back. 8.1 is getting a traditional Start Menu. I expect they'll start shipping Xbox One's without Kinects before too long.

What are you reading?

I just finished "These Are The Voyages: TOS Season 1", the closest thing Trek fans will get to Rinzler's Making Of's. The author (who I've talked to a few times) got access to every draft of every script, every note, every memo, everything that they saved, which they saved everything just for a book like this to be made. Roddenberry actually asked Cushman to write the book years ago, he was just now able to get it done. Cushman also got the Nielson ratings for every episode, proving without a doubt that TOS was popular and was the highest rated NBC show on Thursday nights, but it cost more money than they wanted and Roddenberry wasn't the easiest guy to get along with. I'm really looking forward to starting the second book covering Season 2.

Big Bang Theory is doing a May The Fourth Be With You episode with collaboration from LFL:

Perhaps the most appalling thing is that the writers of the show gave Bob Newhart Phantom Menace so he could study up on Yoda and Dagobah. It's obvious Bob doesn't care much for Star Wars, so I imagine he only knows the titles from what he's seen. Either Bob Newhart is very confused on titles, or the BBT writers are as bad as we imagined.

Back on topic. I am bitching about people who do not seem to understand that you YIELD to an emergency vehicle. Due to some jackwagon last night, who said he thought I would slow down, that drove right front of me as I was coming through an intersection running full lights and siren to assist an Officer who had one at gunpoint who was suspected of being armed.

Now I'm sore, hurting, had to lay off work tonight, I've become a burden to my family; mostly due to childcare issues. And in the end I will be blamed for not seeing this jake-leg who expected me to yield to him and that my in-car mobile video malfunctioned and did not catch the wreck. On top of all of it, I totaled my Black & White Dodge Charger, which my PD is no longer buying dammit. And now for a huge investigation and a seat in front of a crash review board. Ugh!

Why did I choose this profession. Dad always told me to be a fireman.
The arrogance of people nowadays. Expecting a lit up black-and-white going through a red light at an intersection to slow down for them. Jeez.

In a couple weeks I will be embarking upon the odyssey that is STAR TREK: THE VIDEO GAME. It's dangerous to go alone so I'll be co-oping it. Wish us luck!
My wife and I rented it and played through it in a weekend. It's not absolutely terrible, and its kind of fun to run around the JJprise. You just have to ignore that it's "canon" since it contradicts the "Countdown to Darkness" prequel comic AND lines from Into Darkness.

The Room (2003)

What a horribly, horribly beautiful movie. It needs a sequel, a prequel, a sidequel, and an interquel -- all written and directed by Wiseau -- post-haste.

5.5/10
This movie deserves either a zero or a ten.  Nothing else is fair.
Maybe DE was averaging out a zero and an eleven?
