It's been reported that Han Solo will be the central character in episode 7. Hmmm...will Ford get the death he's always asked for?

I think Abrams knows that Han Solo is the key to grabbing that casual fan as you see him him sitting next to Ford for the table-read.

Don't get me wrong, I love Luke Skywalkers character as the OT was really about him, but Han Solo made Star Wars cool, and brought in a fanbase other then SciFi nerds.

The Prequels really lacked a Han Solo type character, and you could even say that ROTJ lacked his coolness as he was relegated to a secondary role to the Vader/Emperor/Luke faceoff.
I remember my mom's reaction when I told her the cast for Episode I: "Is Harrison Ford in it? Then why would I care?"

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986)

It may not work well as the conclusion to the storyline of TWOK & TSFS -- and the whole "sound travelling through space" thing may really bug me -- but I just can't find it in me to dislike this movie.

8/10

Ok, how about this: the Gay Probe isn't sending sound through space because sound wouldn't affect all ship systems like it does. It's an energy pulse that travels through space that can disable ships, but once it hit's earth's oceans is creates vibrations to make a sound like certain mammals.

Are you saying that isn't what was happening in the movie? Because if you are you just blew my mind because I have always just assumed the energy pulse thing was what was going on. I never thought it was sound traveling through space.
I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be what's going on, represented by the audience hearing sound.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread
Time

The wife and I were making fun of Episode I yesterday (she says "mesa clumsy" when she trips over things, to which I reply "you were banished because you were clumsy?"), she says we should try watching it again. I said I hadn't seen it without RiffTrax, Ridiculous, or Plinkett commentary in years. She suggested we try watching it with the Plinkett commentary. We got halfway through the pod race before turning it off. Even with Plinkett's completely random commentary, we couldn't make it.

Random Thoughts
Time

I forget which thread I said it on, but I was excited a few months ago because my friend and I had been invited to do a Star Wars panel at a con. I had expressed nervousness as it was a con I'd never heard of that has no website or event coordination to speak of and that we hadn't been officially invited yet. I've been checking with my friend to see if he'd heard anything, the guy hadn't responded to any emails.

Yesterday morning I joked with my friend about the "invitation", and how we'd never see it. Last night he texted in shock, we'd gotten the invite.

I deliberated for a while, but decided ultimately not to do it, for several reasons. One, my wife is going to a convention out of town that week, so me going to a convention in VA means boarding the dogs and travelling, which would cost lots of money. But mostly because every other convention I can think of has a site where you can find out who's going to be there, what panels are going to be available, and all this MONTHS in advance, you know, so your guests can plan ahead. This con is in two weeks.

So, only people who know the con exists will be there. Only people who read the program will know there is a Star Wars panel. And no one is going to care what we have to say.

SPOILERS FOR WINTER SOLDIER AND AGENTS OF SHIELD FROM 4-22:

So, the AoS and Winter Soldier timeline. It's currently only a couple days since Project Insight in AoS. How long after Insight does the ending of WS take place? We've got Black Widow at a Senate hearing, Gary Shandling getting arrested, Agent 13 working at the CIA, Hill working at Stark, Fury leaving to wander the earth, and Cap and Falcon going after Hydra. I'm assuming none of this has happened from AoS' point of view yet. However, I'm betting when May catches up with Hill, she will be working at Stark.

Back to ESB:R and still about Yoda, what is the plan for the special edition "ERRR" sound that Yoda makes just as Luke aims his gun at him? I'm sure Yoda knew he wouldn't shoot, but for his "goofy character" acting, I think it adds that much more to his goofiness (in a good way) and it makes me grin each time I hear it :) Im wondering if that may be kept?

...

I don't think that's an SE change. At least, not that I'm aware of. He seems to make the same sound I've always heard.
