The Clerks cartoons are amazing. Completely different from the movies. Almost like Family Guy, to be honest. ABC should have kept it around, and not aired it completely out of order. They showed episode 4, then episode 2 which is a stuck-in-a-walk-in-freezer flashback episode where the main joke is that they could only flash back to episode 1 which ABC didn't air. Blows my mind.

I find that the more familiar I am with any given superhero or team of superheroes as they are presented within their respective comics, the less likely I am to enjoy any film or TV adaptations based on those superheroes.
So the same reason why most people prefer the book to the movie.

Video Games - a general discussion thread

A couple of the new ideas I really liked (crouch-walking and having an outline of the last place anyone saw you) have recently been announced for Unity, so there's that. I agree with this article that the Nemesis system is like the L4D "Director"; sure they're AI, but giving them a name makes us hate THEM and not the designers. Also it should be adapted for more games.

So a salesman comes into my wife's shop a couple weeks ago trying to sell her a Chip-&-PIN Point of Sale system (she currently uses the Square add-on with her iPad). She declined, and when she asked me about it, I explained that its a much more secure credit card system that everyone but America uses, and like the metric system, it won't catch on because it's too different and I can't see credit card companies sending out all new cards to everyone, and besides, I've never seen one before.

Yesterday we get our new credit cards. They're Chip-&-PIN. No explanation of what that means, or what the little gold square is for. It's just "here's your new card, thanks for owing us money!"

My wife says "Apparently you were wrong about this being years off, huh?"

JEDIT: They might only be Chip-&-Signature, so face saved?

4K?

As for 4k TV's, unless you're buying a REALLY REALLY REALLY huge tv, you probably don't have the eyesight to actually take advantage of the difference. And by huge, I mean so big it won't fit in most people's houses. Like, movie theater sized screen big.
THIS.

We're talking about the format that replaced/is replacing film in theaters. Having that much resolution at home seems like overkill.

HOWEVER, as close as I sit to my TV to play Xbox, I might benefit from 4k if they ever made console games at that resolution.
