Original Trilogy: Luke's lightsaber color
Time

Yes, originally it was going to be restoration of the original film. But while they were in there, they decided to add the Jabba scene and maybe redo a couple of the Battle of Yavin shots. Then it went on, and on. They started Star Wars in 1993/4, then decided they should do the other two in 96 I believe.

Eventually I'll write an article on the history of the SE, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

The whales are definitely the best part of that cover.

I'm sure that the book is all about someone finding his discarded original gloves and using the DNA on them to clone the Imperial slaves who hand-stitched his gloves.
I think I remember that book being about some kind of prophecy that whoever had the glove could rule the Empire. Holy shit, they were some terrible books.

In nine other movies, and hundreds of episodes of TV, the merged VGer/Dekker entity never came back? What a waste!
They evolved beyond us, why would they ever want to come back to visit? ;-)

If you're going to complain about that, how about any of the other omnipotent/super-advanced races any of the crews ran into (First Federation, Organians, etc.)

A few n00b technical questions. When I watch HDTV, isn't it still 60 fields through pulldown like it was in the CRT days, except at 1080i? I assume most TV shows are still shot at 24 FPS (the 25 FPS conversion fiascos which frequently plague Blus aside in Europe) and the converted into what bascially like 30 FPS? If I run 720p, is it running the fields combined and just showing each one twice? Why would 24p Blu-rays be of better quality then? Is the 30 fields vs. 24 FPS a difference my eye could perceive, ala the infamous "soap opera effect?" I know I'm not seeing smooth motion interpolations, as I'm sure I'd be able to tell, but is the difference perceptible to the human eye?
I believe that HDTV's actually display things at the proper frame rate, no conversion done. The 60 is just the max it can do. If it does run them at a faster frame rate, its a setting on the TV called "Motion Smoothing" and having that on around here, if I remember my Simpsons other people quote properly, "That's a paddlin'".

TrekMovie always had an overview. But yes, the phasers weren't redone because they never had clean plates to work from since they didn't have the original negatives, just the original final edit on film.

CBS' original plan was only to replace the space shots. Every other change took begging & justification on Dave Rossi & the Okuda's part.

We need to have him back, but 60 episodes ago we talked to Rossi on our TOS podcast about Remastered and how they did it: http://www.trek.fm/standard-orbit/6

Anyone care to inform this non-Trekkie what's so bad about it (aside from the ship being the wrong model, as mentioned by timdiggerm)?

The big picture of Spock is his costume from the TV show, not the film.

The only planet they visit in the film is Earth, not that Archipelago-mess behind the Enterprise.

Also that's just some bad looking CG.
The barcode and spine logo are from the wrong Generation.

At long last! Steve's final head pop ought to have nice loud sound to go with it.
I'm sure Old Man Frink won't get it, but I'd love it to be the Grunt Birthday Party sound effect from Halo 3.

(It's an effect you can turn on so when you get a headshot on the little guys their heads explode into confetti while children cheer.)

Will there be 4 separate threads created soon to follow the progress on the other movies?  Or will there be 1 giant "Revisited Project" thread to track whatever is currently going on in the Adywan productions universe?
I don't think we've discussed it yet, but I would want to keep them separate, mostly so the people who don't care about his prequel edits can follow the RotJR news.

But that's up to Ady.

Look forward to this sort of thing a lot in the future. This is the reason why Ady is going to be working on the rest of the movies all at once, so that when he hits a wall on how to do something or is waiting on another thing to dry he can poke in another one of the movies.
