Will the Imperial March be retained for the HD version? It’s one of my favorite changes of ANH:R.
I don’t know what other music you could even use for the Death Star reveal. Besides, isn’t the Imperial March used in Rogue One anyway?
I know that R1 used a new version of the original Death Star reveal cue, I could use more of that in ANHR.
Drew mentioned that when the 97 SE version was created, Lucasfilm did a 1080p scan of the original negative. The scan was then digitally cleaned up, revised with new cgi effects and deleted scenes, and then printed back onto film for a new “original negative.”
I know other people already corrected this, but I do want to point out that’s not what I said, or at least not what I meant. Ady was correct in his statement, that the SPECIAL EDITION elements are locked in at 2K at best, including the digitally recomposited shots.

All-new, not just replaced? Yeah, other than the extended Mos Eisley and the stormtrooper shots, there aren’t any I can think of.
What about the lightspeed jump? In ROTJ, when ever a ship jumps to lightspeed, the shot stays neutral and up-right, no twirl. While in ANH, and ESB, there is a spiral when jumping to lightspeed. Honestly, that shot of the Falcon jumping to lightspeed stable and not spiraling is one of my most liked changes in ANH:R (SD).
I believe I recall Ady saying years ago that he was going to keep the spin. It’s a big dramatic moment.
Thinking ahead to things that should change with the Battle of Yavin, I’ve got a few ideas.
- Yavin 4 isn’t visible in the fly-by or is half-blocked by the gas giant (like the test renders of the '97 scene)
While this needs to be done, I never found a test render where it was half blocked in my SE research. I seem to recall something they made for one of those IMAX SFX reels maybe having the moon at a better angle.
They recreated it and still put Yavin 4 and the DS1 in visual range of each other for the flyby.

UHD Ultra HD (4K)I was asking about the the 2020 FHD blu-rays that came out with the 4k ones. But I guess since those come from the same “new” sources as the 4K versions, the colors, the tighter framing etc. are identical to those of the 4k ones. Minus the higher resolution and HDR ofc.
Keep in mind those are only available in the box with the 4K, the individual releases are still the 2011 version.

Yeah, it’ll be the 11SE. The differences between 11 and 19 are really only color/clarity, so if the snow looks, you know, white, it might be 19.

Rinzler puts in original shots in his books and they act like they’re placeholders and replace them with SE shots. He knows the difference.

I will reiterate that it’s absolutely essential that we have an official release of the OOT. As neat as the fan restorations are, there is no reason that our parents (or our kids!) shouldn’t be able to walk into a store or turn on their Roku and be able to watch the movies that changed the world.
Idk how this was done, but I gotta say it looks like the best of both worlds when it comes to the force Ghost issue. This one is obviously a bit over done, he looks like 90 rather than 45 (also wow why did they have Sebastian Shaw playing him, I know that the prequels we got were very different to how they were imagined based on what we hear and see in the OG trilogy but still, he was even older than Alec Guinness) but toned down a bit I think this would work as both Anakin being the man how died on the DSII and link back to the prequels as Shaw just doesn’t resemble him at all.

Its not like Shaw even looked like himself under Vader makeup so either way you’re asking the audience to draw a connection based on context rather than what the guy looks like.
Someone who was 1 when they were filming should not be in the movie.
I know this is probably a sacrilegious thing to say, but I think Hayden as Anakin’s force ghost actually makes more sense. It might sound dumb right now but let me explain.
Vader/Anakin was 46 when he died. Hayden is currently 39 and doesn’t look much different then he did in ROTS. I’m pretty sure he’s not going to suddenly look 78 in 7 years.
So even if we take into account the fact that he was good again when he died so ROTS wasn’t the last time he was on the light side of the force, it STILL makes more sense for Hayden to be the ghost.
Hayden being in the movie assumes you’ve seen the prequels, which Adywan is not assuming.

Welcome to my life. The people who insist that Disney signed a contract that said “you can’t release the original versions” are crazy to me. Disney is a business, they wouldn’t let an old man tell them what they can’t do with their IP.
Each OT movie has 3 entries on Prime Video: HD, HD with bonus features, and UHD. Only RotJ’s HD listing has this label. It’s weird as hell, but Amazon is weird as hell.
