Help Wanted: 'An American Tail' (1986) Blu Ray (Original Theatrical Audio Restoration) (* unfinished project *)

I like this project. The 5.1 mix SUCKS.

HDTV broadcasts have had the original Dolby Stereo mix, but it wasn't bit-perfect PCM like the laserdisc.

Ideally the Laserdisc track would be ideal, I was under the impression the HDTV version had the new mix, good to know! Thanks!

Help Wanted: 'An American Tail' (1986) Blu Ray (Original Theatrical Audio Restoration) (* unfinished project *)

An American Tail is out on Blu Ray today (3-4-14). One of my childhood favorites, I was extremely excited this finally made it to Blu Ray. Unfortunately, the audio is sourced from the previous DVD release and has some pretty terrible dubbing during the orphan scene.

I’m looking for someone who would be interested in helping me with the Theatrical audio restoration sourced from the Laserdisc. I don’t have a Laserdisc player, if anyone here is interested in collaborating on this, please reply here or message me. Thanks, below is a link that compares the horrible dubbing effort.

Help Wanted: Does anyone have The Good, Bad & Ugly laserdisc audio?
Time

Supposedly there is a new US version coming next year, I have the mondo synced with English audio but I'm not sure who did it. It's my go to version because I can't stand the mess MGM gave us. This project looks amazing though! For a few dollars more I went with the German uncut release even though the print was in bad shape, and the Italian version of Fistful. Tomorrow, Duck you sucker drops in Italy, someone please sync English audio lol. Although not popular, it's still a favorite of mine. I plan on picking it up regardless!

Upscaling Robocop Criterion (Released)
Time

I'm sure you guys have heard, Robocop is getting the 4K treatment. Just hoping they stay true to source material and not ruin the color timing or DNR it to hell.

and not through Criterion, but I'm sure it will be a great improvement over the Blu we have now.

Ghostbusters 2 as others have mentioned, no telling if and when we will ever get an official Blu release. Another one I would love to see is Pumping Iron, I'm a huge Arnold fan and would watch this repeatedly during my bodybuilding days. Sadly there is only the DVD release that I know of so I'm not sure there'd be much room for improvement. Sadly I doubt a Blu release of this will ever come!

This would be nice, I am a huge Arnold Fan as well, I was in bodybuilding for almost 12 years and I actually met him back in 1996 at The Arnold Classic, You_Too has actually seen the pic of my with him but it was a polaroid, so he actually made huge improvements to it so I could get a nice 8x10.

That's awesome! Would have loved to meet Arnold, my favorite all time bodybuilder.

Concerning blank media, what is the best manufacturer of blank Bluray discs? I am aware that the best DVD5s are from Taiyo Yuden, and the best DVD9s are from Verbatim's manufacturer in I think Singapore. What is the best manufacturer of Blurays to go with?

Yes this does matter. I tried burning Kerr's 6-disc Lord of the Rings set onto disc, and had to go out and buy more discs after I wasted a whole 20 pack spindle only to get 4 of them to work reliably on a standalone DVD player. I know it was the fault of the discs, not the data.

I use only blank Verbatim to burn Blu Ray, never had a coaster yet. Either the white printable from Japan, or the ones you can get in stores. They both work great, never playback issues or coasters.
