Plot holes in the SW saga
Time
Jimbo, you really need to chill out, my young padawan learner.

I am merely trying to offer different perspectives & views behind GL's desire to further change the Trilogy.

You & I DONOT know for definite what GL intentions behind the origins of the Stormtroopers were. In 2002 he can say "oh they were always clones" but I'm sorry mate but I donot believe that this was always the case.

Now before you reply telling me again that I am wrong....just take a minute to think about what I am saying. I am not saying that the Stormtroopers are now NOT clones. Emphasis on NOW, NOT CLONES. I am trying to suggest as I have said in many previous posts that GL is/has/will change the OT to suit his needs for the PT.

Now I don't know about you, but I believe I am entitled to my own opinion here & feel that you, as a fellow poster, should at least attempt to respect that. Not everyone thinks as you do. We all have idea's about the origins of characters etcetcetcetcetc but do we bluntly tell you that you are wrong? No, so please before replying just sit back & think for a minute.

lmao

that doesnt mean they're all the same!

In the UK we have a set minimum height for any ppl that should so desire to join the Police Force. This could quite easily have been the case when ANH came out, GL wanted to show that the Stormtroopers all had to have been of atleast a certain height to conform with the fact that their armour removed any sense of identity/humanity, thus appearing all the same. Would the comment "Aren't you a little tall for a stormtrooper" been said to Han if he'd rescued her, considering he was meant to have been in the service of the Empire.

Jimbo you really need to keep in mind that what GL thought 25 years ago is not what he's thinking now and likewise in current interviews etc what GL is saying he always intended (the good old excuse of the backstory) is not the case. He is clearly making it up as he goes along (hmm Indiana Jones anyone??), changing whatever he feels is needed to make the 2 trilogies come together. Do not be fooled Jimbo!

Foaming????? Who's foaming?

I, for one, love reading Jimbo's posts, he doesn't rile me in the slightest. His arguments are precise, educated & to the point

Seriously though, everyone has an opinion about Star Wars, whether they love it, hate the changes etcetcetcetcetc I, personally LOVE coming here to read as many posts as I can & occasionally replying when I can be bothered too! The level of passion & dedication that many (read:all) of the members here possess is quite something to behold! Everyone here brings a different quality to the message board & keeps it alive & thriving, which is an admirable quality, don't you think?

Blimey! Where did that all come from?

Um....I've forgotten what I'd intented to post

lol!!!!!!!!!

as far as i can recall that guy hitting his head COULDNOT see a thing through his helmet. The bumping went unnoticed until it was picked up by cinema viewers.

Hmm anyone say "Shoot the continuity people" :>

also I recall hearing once when i was a wee lad that the guy who smacked his head did it intentionally after being dared by a friend.

Dont know which story is true but still it's funny as hell & cinema history & IMO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the "creative genius" of GL

Um I've listened to the commentary many many times & he DOESNOT make it clear that ALL the OT stormtroopers are clones, he casually mentions that in an earlier draft (earlier draft of what, one might ask) they were clones, he's very ambiguous here & I feel it can be interpreted in a couple of ways:

1. from the start of his writing the Stormtroopers were meant to be clones

2. once writing AOTC he DECIDED that ALL STORMTROOPERS WILL FROM NOW ON BE CLONES.

As stated above he's not very clear on this & IMO he is just changing things along the way to suit his needs for the PT.

In some respects the argument DOES stand up IMO, the Star Wars trilogy has been THE MOST anticipated release, topping many request lists for some time now........

However is Lucasfilms announcement that the OT-SE is coming to DVD a pampering to the fans or a splendidly clever marketing ploy to raise awareness of Star Wars in light of the impending release of Ep3?

I personally think this is the case.......What better way to introduce NEW FANS to Star Wars (is there anyone left that hasn't seen them?) than to release the OT, Hasbro are currently producing loads of OT style figures, as well as rereleasing a whole load of figures (supposedly to cater for this new market of fans), personally I think it's all a HUGE scam to once again part us with our hard earned pennies. I know many collectors WILL buy all these so-called new figures, just because they'll have nice new cards! Suckers

I'll buy the dvd's (god sometimes I hate myself) & yes IF there is an Ultimate version I shall buy them too, but i draw the line at buying Star wars figures just because they've got a different card

What is wrong with Return of the Jedi?
Time
lmao ricarleite! you have such a way with words it cracks me up!

Um yeah anyway...ROTJ..........Is it good or a stinker???

I saw all 3 OT as they came out & still to this day ESB is my fav! Did I like ROTJ? Well when I was 9 & watching I loved it..................EXCEPT.................................THOSE F*$**** EWOKS!!!!!!!

Now I know as a kid they were meant to appeal to me, but sorry guys( & gals), they annoyed the hell outta me! ROTJ has some really nasty dark stuff going on (Ep3 take note you say dark, we know dark already, we want so black; its void)!!! Then along come these fuzzy little things with crappy spears & a few rocks & suddenly these cool looking guys in nice shiney white suits of armour are just falling over & giving it up like lil b******!!!! WTF is that all about?? I appreciate that GL was trying to make some statement about dependance in technology leading to eventual downfall (perhaps he should have hastened his own meannings...teehee) but even as a 9 yr old I was appalled. My parents distinctly remember me moaning to them there & then, loudly in the cinema:

"This is stupid, those stormtroopers have got guns & those teddies have only got sticks, they'd be dead by now!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Oh well the shattered illusions of a 9 yr old & people only started to moan about raped childhood when TPM came out, christ I WAS STILL A CHILD :> hehehe

Oh yeah.....the Han/Luke/Leia love triangle thingy thats played out REALLY badly annoys me too, always has, always will & you moan that AOTC had cheese love!

One other thing......lol....

Boba Fett's death????? WTF was that all about??????? Anyway other than that, yeah I agree, great flick :>

In Tales From Mos Eisley Cantina by Kevin J Anderson, one of the short stories concerns itself with the young Stormtrooper who says "Look Sir, droids!!!" in ANH.

The story starts with his being drafted INTO service, firstly as an AT-AT driver, where he basically picks up on the one weakness that At-At's have & for his troubles he is carted off into the service as an Imperial Stormtrooper. He IS NOT A CLONE! lol

Anyway don't want to start a HUGE argument so how about we agree that there is a mix of Clones & non-Clones in the Stormtrooper army by the time the OT occurs? That way noone has to admit they were wrong & we can all get on again & enjoy a nice hot piece of pie with some hot chocolate whilst we smoke long Cuban cigars :>

Plot holes in the SW saga

balls! I'd written an epic response & forgot to log in & lost all the info

Anyway I'll see how much of it I can remember!

To start with:

All stormtroopers being clones.....I have NEVER read anywhere that stated that ALL Stormtroopers are clones! I think it's fair to assume that in the early days of the Empire THIS IS the case...but 20 years later???? A GALACTIC EMPIRE only using clones??? I think it's ok to assume that DRAFTING from other planets WOULD take place. Do all the Imperial Officers look the same throughout the Star Wars saga? Nope don't think so! Even Han Solo WAS an Imperial Oficer until he killed his Commanding Officer to save Chewbacca (But D-jj-d that's EU & don't count for sh**!!) Well whatever!

Even Luke at one point during ANH states his intentions of joining the Academy & I HOPE I'm not the only person that realised HE DIDNT MEAN joining the Rebellion! Whats to say that had he followed his goal, he wouldnt have ended up joining the Stormtrooper Regiments?

Ok moving on....................3PO not recognising anyone after living on Tatooine for 10 years, well I dont think you need to be a rocket scientist to work that one out! As for Owen not recognising him.....well here's a few thoughts:

1. Whilst 3PO was living with the Lars, he's still naked until Shmi kindly clothes him IN SPARE PARTS! (dont believe me...go read the novelisation of AOTC)

2. When 3PO returns its 20 years later, he's had a bit of a make over & I sure as hell wouldnt recognise him, especially as he's NEVER referred to by name in front of Owen during ANH. There are LOADS of protocol droids flitting around the Galaxy doing there own thing....re watch the prequels & the OT theres a few about to be seen!

The one comment i DO strongly disagree with thats been raised so far is that of Obi Wan delivering Luke to Owen......

My only problem with this scenario is:

HOW DOES OBI WAN KNOW ABOUT OWEN? So far in the PT he hasnt met him...maybe this will be addressed in Ep3?

Maybe (SPOILER WARNING)..........................

Its Padme's dying wish to Bail & Obi Wan that Luke be taken to live with the Lars (Anakin tells Padme in AOTC that they're good people & she'll be safe with them) but until May 19th we wont know how GL ties up these loose ends!

Discussion: What do you guys think of the Unleashed figures?
Time
I kinda dig those Unleashed figures! Have picked up about 6 so far!

If those Amildala's have been recalled for having erect nipples (& oh boy she does, you could have someones eye out wit them buggers >:I ) then why do all the stores in the UK have about 60,000,000 of them sitting around??????

There are sometimes when I love living in the UK, like picking up the variant Vader (with scarred Anakin head) & Slave Leia, both of which were apparantly EXCLUSIVES in the entertainer for under 5 pounds!!!!!

Other than that living in the Uk for Star Wars toys SUCKS BALLS! Figures are TOO expensive & an exclusive????????? in toys r us?????/ You've got to be kidding! Since when has Hasbro (who's main distribution warehouse is 20 miles from me) ever given 2 hoots about Uk fans????

How does Grand Moff Tarkin fit into Ep 3?
Time
Episode 3 is set 3 years after episode 2, which makes it approximately 19 yrs before ANH. If for arguments sake Tarkin is say 65 in ANH then hes going to be mid to late forties in Ep3. I was under the impression that he was going to be called "Captain Tarkin". If i recall all the casting rumours the dude thats gonig to play the young(er) tarkin is merely referred to as a Young Captain on the starwars.com cast list.

I think then its fair to assume that he will be a Captain of one of those early Star Destroyer ships we saw at the end of Ep2. Perhaps he is Captain of the ship that Obi-Wan is commanding the Clone Troopers that will eventually turn on him?

Perhaps this is how Tarkin learns of Obi-Wan, with reference to Ep4, otherwise perhaps we are meant to assume that Vader & Tarkin had a nice chat sometime between eps 3 & 4, when they were bored on the Death Star, perhaps dunking biscuits & listening to Mozart?

Not a lot else to do on a space station on a Sunday afternoon except reminisce on days gone is there?

Last line of episode 3?
Time

O woe is me!!!

I really feel I am the ONLY person in existence to not want Anakin's transformation into Vader to be shown on screen!

I've probably said it many times before & will probably say it many times to come BUT I really, really feel this is a big mistake on George Lucas' part!

IMO, it will only further sully the OT. Way back in 1980 when I was a wee nipper the HUGE revelation that Vader was Luke's father terrified me!

Now IF this series of 6 films IS MEANT to be watched in chronological order (& I distinctly remember GL stating that he wanted people in years to come that had never watched the series, to be able to do so) then WHY ruin one of cinema's best plot twists???

The whole impact of that scene in Empire will be lost forever!

Imagine watching the series for the 1st time. Ok, you get to Episode 3 & see that a hideously disfigured Anakin is placed in a nice metal shiny suit complete with cool gadgets & flashing lights. 2 films later & where's the surprise??? I know its a slightly edited version of events but indulge me I've been awake for 36 hours & it's 7am GMT!

I know you're all gonna say "but EVERYONE knows Vader is Anakin". Well yes, I agree in part, this generation DOES know....but do the countless generations to come know? Don't they deserve to be as shocked as we once were?

Oh to hell with it, this argument ensuing inside my own head at this time is just making me wish that the Prequels had NEVEr been made & then that great moment would forever remain unsullied!

Tis a sad day for d-jj-d's everywhere & on that note as the room is spinning I am going to drown my sorrows in cold custard

Sin City: The Movie
Time
Has there been another Sin City mini series since "Booze Broads & Bullets"? Or is that the series you're referring to?

DK2 was truely truely shameful & I felt ruined an absolute classic piece of comic book history! altho the action figures they've got due for the summer release from DKR & DK2 look hella cooooooooooooooooooooooool!
