For TRoS Edits: Dialogue for the Knights of Ren! Come help! (Released)

Here is a link to all of my files. I was getting better towards the end of my recording session and I neglected to put a wind guard on my mic so some of them are unusable.

I would love any feedback on what worked and what didn’t, and I would be more than happy to record anything to get it right.

Thanks for your consideration!

If any thing I think the original arrangement is what brakes the logic, kylo find the fleet and palpatine, next shot in remote space the spy had already Intercepted the information. The scene rearrangement actually spaces out the events making the spy’s acquisition of the information more logical.

From the workprint it seemed like the scenes were in the same order, just some were shorter and a few lines were changed. These were good changes on a micro sense, but as a whole, there wasn’t a substantial change of the beginning.

I honestly feel like a lot more needs to be done with the first 20 minutes. It felt rushed in the theater and the cuts made make it feel even more rushed.

The main problem I have had with this film is how long it takes for me to get my footing when I watch it. What is there right now makes that feeling worse. It is just soooo quick, with no room to breathe.

I need to think more about how that can be improved, but rearranging the scenes breaks the logic of the film. Since there can’t be a spy in the FO to tell them anything until Kylo knows… trying to move the Rey training scene up works with logically, but thematically it is a weird scene to start on…

I guess I’m just in despair with the beginning…

Alright, some things with the 15-minute clip posted.

 1. The pacing of putting the Falcon scene first was nice, but the issue is how they get that information from the FO before the FO has it.

 2. The lack of establishing shots when transitioning from Exegol to Ajan Kloss and then from Ajan Kloss to Kylo’s room is unfortunate. Possibly doing a planet shot for the first transition and then just a static Destroyer shot for the second one. But then Audio becomes an issue…

 3. Kylo’s vision with Vader’s helmet and then moving directly into reforging his mask was amazing and I loved it and it made me happy and I am so glad that it was thought of.

If I could edit I would do the opening something like this.

The crawl will not mention Palps, something more in line with Kylo’s power yet his insecurity in himself. A feeling.

Opening shot would be tie fighters going towards kylo’s ship just out in space (probably a reverse shot from TFA) with Kylo on the bridge staring into nothingness. Next shot is Kylo consulting the mask of Vader and seeing the vision from the film with added TLJ shots of Luke on Crait as well as a shot of Vader’s castle (recolored maybe). Then use the shot from the making of where Kylo places the mask on its pedestal.

We then cut to the forest massacre and the scene plays out from there.

What I think can add breathing room is Kylo’s vision, with quick cuts to all sorts of images that Palps is trying to show Kylo. Kylo see’s these visions and goes on a hunt for Palps because he starts to suspect that there is something more out there. After much thought, I do not think the broadcast should be used at all. That aspect is only in the crawl and expanded material anyways. Change it to Kylo consulting his Grandfather for direction and following the voices to Palps on Exegol.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Redux Ideas thread

The World between Worlds as it is called shows up a lot in Rebels. That is where the fan film got the idea. However, in Rebels the people in the nether realm do not actually have any sort of blue tint, they just are in that realm. I think make Luke appear normal and having his surroundings be all space would go a long way to helping the scene
