This is definitely a nit-pick but in the transporter shot you can see the star destroyer in the sky and you don’t see it in any other shots in the atmosphere.

I love that shot of Kylo in space on the bridge, but it’s really awkward to see him in space and then the next time we see him he is slaughtering mushroom men. If only there was a shot (which I doubt there is) of kylo turning around on the bridge (like a "bring my shuttle) moment.

Not sure if I’m gonna mess with that scene any more. But your lines are all good. One of them I think was used shortly after though when downloading the message?
I neglected to watch forward in the seen when I was working on this… All the lines I pulled from Battlefront 2 where Boyega recorded about 6 minutes worth of dialogue. So, if he did say one of the lines later it would be from a different session (I think).
EDIT: Just checked and didn’t see any instances in that scene at least where Finn said any of the same dialogue.

I wanted to change Finn’s line when he’s running through the Falcon to talk to Boolio. I do not have the program necessary to make it sound very good but what I have is acceptable for a mock-up! Let me know what you think!

I posted an idea earlier about changing Finn’s first line in the movie since him saying R2’s name felt a bit awkward but nobody jumped on it so I pulled out the only program I had (iMovie) and did my best to make a mock-up of what it could look/sound like.
I was able to cobble together 3 options.

The audio is very janky and it almost seems for the unaltered audio that there are two channels on top of each other, but in iMovie I don’t really know how to deal with that.

What if we replace Finn’s “R2” at the beginning of the film with a line like “look sharp” or something to help that scene flow. As it stands Finn just saying R2’s name feels a bit awkward.

Here is a link to all of my files. I was getting better towards the end of my recording session and I neglected to put a wind guard on my mic so some of them are unusable.

Finally got a chance to watch the updated beginning and my gosh it is soooo much better!
If any thing I think the original arrangement is what brakes the logic, kylo find the fleet and palpatine, next shot in remote space the spy had already Intercepted the information. The scene rearrangement actually spaces out the events making the spy’s acquisition of the information more logical.
From the workprint it seemed like the scenes were in the same order, just some were shorter and a few lines were changed. These were good changes on a micro sense, but as a whole, there wasn’t a substantial change of the beginning.
I honestly feel like a lot more needs to be done with the first 20 minutes. It felt rushed in the theater and the cuts made make it feel even more rushed.
The main problem I have had with this film is how long it takes for me to get my footing when I watch it. What is there right now makes that feeling worse. It is just soooo quick, with no room to breathe.
I need to think more about how that can be improved, but rearranging the scenes breaks the logic of the film. Since there can’t be a spy in the FO to tell them anything until Kylo knows… trying to move the Rey training scene up works with logically, but thematically it is a weird scene to start on…
I guess I’m just in despair with the beginning…

Was it decided to remove Palps line regarding “Final word in the story of rebellion?” I know with the music in Jonh’s clip it made sense to remove the line and instead do the Force Ghosts, but it is a good line IMO.

The trailer music that Jonh pulled for the death of Palps honestly hits so hard for me. If my vote matter I think that music would work perfectly, the only issue is the sound effects on top of it.
Do you still need people to record voice lines?
We already have a Jacen Syndulla impersonator who provided a voice.

I don’t think that Rey Palpatine itself was a reshoot addition, but many of the details about it were changed in reshoots.
I honestly think the TIE fighter should stay… sure it doesn’t make sense that a TIE fighter is still operational but it’s no more unlikely than Luke’s X-Wing. That moment in the theater when I saw the Tie and the X-Wing next to each other I actually freaked out it was so cool and such a cool moment to me.
