How did the original sail berge assault play?
Time

Deleted scenes are one of my favorite hobbies in Star Wars. I can think of evidence for a few little extensions, all involving Leia. I don’t have time to look up pics at the moment but there is a still of Leia attacking guards with a staff. There is also BTS footage from a distance showing her strike someone, likely the same shot. In one or two of the trailers is a brief shot of Leia which we also see in the movie where Luke tells her to point the gun at the deck, but in this case it’s a fraction of a second longer. In total all this evidence probably adds up to less than two seconds, all clustered in the same portion of the scene. Really all I can conclude from this is that there were probably dozens of minor trims here and there that affected the final outcome.

You really have musical timing down! Stay tuned, my music free tracks are coming along, you’ll be able to synchronize it to the original movie so you should be able to just drop it into your edit.

You magnificent bastard.

😃

I may do this for the PT as well if anyone wants me to

Actually I would love to see ANH done. One of my favorite edits is Ryan McAvoy’s B&W workprint recreation. He was passionate about it but then lost his drive due to the desire to rescore parts and splice parts, but the audio was too difficult. If you could fix that one issue, maybe he’d return to the edit.

Very kind 😃 I can honestly say that when considering reasons to be more active on this site, RicOlie_2 is probably my number one. It’s almost criminal to see such intelligence, wit, and maturity in someone so young 😃

Thank you my friend. So have you.

I also appreciate your input, rare as it may be these days.

Much appreciated. You guys make me wish I could be on here more. I never really got to know you well before I went on hiatus but I read a few threads almost daily and enjoy your contributions. Nice to have another thoughtful conservative on the board. Many have left. Post Praetorian is another one of the few remaining.

How do Mormons view the death (lynching) of Joseph Smith? I know certain people believe that there were some supernatural elements to it, but I’m not sure what the general consensus is regarding that.

Sorry, got busy. I kind of doubt this is what you are looking for, but this is the most supernatural thing I can think of. A man named Willard Richards was one of four prisoners present at the death of Joseph Smith, the others being Joseph himself, his brother Hyrum Smith, and John Taylor, one of the Twelve Apostles who later became leader of the church. Joseph and Hyrum were killed, and John Taylor sustained several injuries, but Willard Richards was nearly unscathed.

Here is the context of the Martyrdom:

http://eom.byu.edu/index.php/Martyrdom_of_Joseph_and_Hyrum_Smith

And here is the reported prophecy:

http://scottwoodward.org/josephsmith_prophecies_willardrichards.html

However, now that I’ve read a bit on Wikipedia, it appears there are some accounts of further supernatural elements that I was not familiar with.

First (and I recall years ago hearing the basis of this different tale), a member of the mob that killed Joseph Smith and was a close witness describes a different story than that of other witnesses, wherein Joseph supposedly did not die after his fall from the Carthage jail second story window, but was then executed by firing squad. When a mobster went to decapitate him, a bright light from heaven frightened the whole mob off.

I honestly am not sure I trust this source, but there is one possibility that you might be referring to.

It also appears to have been described as potentially lightning. Since I’ve not heard this before and am only quickly skimming the articles, I will try to be better informed in the near future, but here is a source as well:

Let me know if this answers your question.

And I have done some reading recently about the tea/coffee/hot Dr. Pepper discussion, and I will attempt to address it in the near future when I’ve got the chance.

Lol what a great thread to come to a mock someone else’s beliefs. Haha! What a fruitful discussion!

I apologize, that was not my intent. Reading my post again, I realize that it could’ve come across that way. Forgive me, I meant no disrespect.

In reality I was not terribly offended. I was a little annoyed at the whole direction of the thread, but even then, it wasn’t too much. I expressed my irritation with far more hostility than I intended. I even reread it and thought, “I better clarify that it really isn’t that big a deal,” but then I went to work and forgot about it. I’ve been meaning to respond for a couple of days, but just didn’t have the chance. So please don’t feel bad, and continue to ask honest questions. Even a little humor is okay. It’s just the whole derailment that bothered me. I hope I didn’t scare you off for good.

And in that vein, did my link answer your earlier question?

Hopefully they’re all good examples 😃

Just to clarify on my recent release, owing to a thoughtful PM I received, I meant to say.that the release from a calling in my church is not being fired. Firstly, it is unpaid service, and second, it is always temporary. So no worries, it was actually quite a relief to get released. Thanks to my thoughtful worry wart friend 😃

How about a game of Japanese Chess, i.e. Shogi? Now playing Shogi4
Time

So, since only Ric and Frink ever click on this thread, and since only Ric actually cares about the posts I make, I will address this post to RicOlie_2, my not so young friend. How old are you at this point? Time really flies! You must be like 17 now, eh?

Anyway, I finally broke down and purchased a real shogi set.

http://www.amazon.com/Study-Shogi-Japanese-Chess-Pieces/dp/B002ACUC4A?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

I had a homemade crappy set with foamboard for the board and bakeable clay for pieces, with the intial for the name and an illustration of the movement. It was ugly but serviceable. Well, this new board is nice, and I’ve taught a patient on my floor in the hospital how to play. He really has enjoyed it. He also sucks big time.

It’d be fun to play you again sometime. I know I am busy, but one of these days I would like to try another game. Perhaps we can do it via PM to avoid clunking up Off Topic, or maybe we can even use the software to play in more real time. I’ve thought about it and I doubt it will cause an issue.

Brief update. I was recently released from my duties in bishopric and resumed my former calling as an instructor for Sunday School. This frees up some time, but I still intend to limit my comments here to avoid getting sucked in and wasting time in my real life.

As a side note, long ago Frink mentioned a site supposedly trying to provide a neutral viewpoint on my church called mormonthink.com. I’ve been to the site several times and had my own observations, and I recently went there again. I assure you, while they portray themselves as fair and balanced, just active Mormons raising serious questions, it is quite apparent from a superficial view that they are portraying things in a very hostile manner. They are a typical anti-Mormon site except for one thing: they use softer wording when providing the “pro-Mormon” perspective. Anyone skilled in debate or critical thinking can see their methods are intended as critical. To highlight their falsehoods, this link can illustrate their duplicity even more:
