Aalenfae's PREQUEL TRILOGY (Heavily delayed - computer exploded)
Time

That could be good as well.  And even then, perhaps not that difficult.  Just show a guy in a dark robe doing the fighting, and aalenfae wouldn't have to find a Hayden lookalike.  I just always pictured most of the murders done while Vader was armored.

Of course, the difficulty with this scenario is how aalenfae would work it into the existing plot.  Might be difficult to alter the explanations for things.  But maybe not.  I dunno.  I really like the idea of keeping Padme alive on Alderaan, but how to split the kids if she's still alive and Vader is undefeated and the Jedi still live...?

That's cool.  I don't have the game, but if any fans want to find any useful lines, that would be appreciated.  I guess Jones also played Vader in a computer Monopoly game and in The Benchwarmers.  I wonder if there's anything useful there (I have no desire to see the movie, except for maybe Vader's lines)?

Exactly!  I'd like that a lot better.  I wouldn't mind seeing Padme living and going to Alderaan with all this.  It seems fitting to me.  It wouldn't have to be long or distract from the climax of the Mustafar duel too much.  It would lead into the Death Star ending better, which shouldn't have taken 20 years to complete with the Empire's resources, regardless of strikes and holidays and whatever excuses certain persons make for it.

So we've had several votes come in already.  If you haven't voted, I think I'd like it by Sunday morning so I can tally everything on a day off from school and work.

Still not much happening at the other forum.  I hope it was a good idea (it wasn't mine).  It feels like a lot of the energy was sapped from this thread, which is of course to be expected when ideas are being solidified and everyone has a real life.  I just hope it doesn't die.  I'd really like to see this thing through.

So I may have secured a digital copy of the Star Wars Interactive Video Board Game movie.  The plot, it turns out, revolves around the DSII prior to Endor, and the DSII had a functioning superlaser and was going to destroy some Rebel planet.  It gets sabotaged and leaves it in the state we see it in ROTJ.  This is why I don't give a crap about most EU anymore, because even silly storylines that clearly conflict with the OT are made into some level of canon.  But what I like about it is the fact that David Prowse was filmed aboard a Death Star set and James Earl Jones recorded new lines for it.  I have no idea what one sees or what is said, but maybe even a little something could be useful.  I'm sure the video quality isn't great, being taken from a VHS, but who knows?  The audio could be a treasure trove, however, as the movie is an hour long.

This made me wonder if there is other potentially useful audio just waiting to be exploited.  The first thought that came to me was from the Holiday Special where Vader and Bast are chatting.  "I want the Rebels located and identified [a pause long enough for a natural cut] if it means searching every household in the system."  Possibly useful, though I wouldn't know where to put it.  But I wonder if there are other Jones as Vader recordings that could be useful, or even recordings of other actors.  If the lines are short, we may find something close to what we were planning, such as Mark Hamill saying he needed to do some "thinking."  If you guys can think of any potential sources, let us know."

So I have a contribution to the flash forward storytelling idea.  Anakin's first Jedi massacre of course is at the Jedi Temple.  Obi-wan learns the truth about him and goes to face him on Mustafar as he loses/becomes the version of Vader we all know and love.  Ben thinks he's dead, they split up the kids, and so forth).  But unknown to most, Vader survived, and then goes on his rampage killing Jedi.  He could be shown as the one giving Order 66 in place of the Emperor.  He could shoot down the Jedi Master in the starfighter and on the speeder bike.  Some new footage would be necessary, but perhaps he could even be shown dueling some random Jedi.  It would require decent costumes and makeup, but people make lightsaber duel videos all the time.  Then in the end we'd see Vader and the Emperor on the bridge of a Star Destroyer overlooking the construction of the Death Star.  This has the advantage of not appearing so abrupt an ending and therefore allowing for a better transition from democratic Republic to despotic Empire.

I found a link that has the exact quote in text.  I got the gist of it right.

Here's a different take on the edited version that includes the rodent line, but instead calls Peck "Wally Wick."  A video this time.

Can't find the weasel line in action, but all good fun.

Now that we're talking funny edits, I remember years and years ago watching ROTJ on TV.  I was literally probably no older than 6 (now 29) and I wasn't watching the whole thing because I was scared of Jabba.  Anyway, enough memory lane.  I remember where the two scout troopers ambush Leia and Wicket, they cut out everything from Wicket hitting the trooper to after Leia shoots the speeder bike.  It goes from Leia being held hostage to Wicket making cute victory noises and Leia saying, " Come on.  Let's get out of here."  Even then I thought it was weird.

The company was called Clean Play DVDs (had to look through my old emails to find it, I'd forgotten).  Never a big company, and overcharged at times.  As I said, they're gone now.  They would actually sell edited physical copies of the DVDs, clearly outside what this site supports as legit (though the work done here is technically not legit either).  There is a site that the promo person emailed and recommended to me, now I get constant emails from them, though I have never used them.  I hesitate to offer a name for fear of breaking OT.com rules.  I don't advocate piracy or illegitimate movie distribution, but seeing as I don't want to watch an offensive movie to edit it, I feel content to let someone else fix it for me.

The DVD players seem like a good way to go, especially if you only want to watch a few edited movies.  You have to pay by the month to download the editing parameters, but you have unlimited access to any movies in their database during that time, and I think the first month is free.  You could then adjust the setting for the film you had in mind, if you wanted to watch a PG or PG-13 movie, for instance.

I find studio-approved edits funny as well.  I remember watching Ghostbusters on TV once, and the part where Ray calls that environmentalist guy ****less was particularly funny.  The mayor asks, "Is this true?"  Peter answers, "Yes it's true.  This man has no..."  The edited version was a different take with alternate lines, Ray calling him a weasel instead, the mayor asking if it's true, and Peter answering, "Yes it's true.  He's a weasel of some kind, but we're not sure which."  Cheesy, but it made me laugh.

'Star Wars: The Interactive Board Game' DVD.......a daveytod release (Released)

Does anyone have a way of getting a copy of this out?  Pondering on the Return of the Jedi edit makes me think there may be something useful on this, even a line or a shot, but no one seeds the torrent.

At the very least, is there a transcript of Vader's lines somewhere?  That way I might know whether the audio would be useful or not.

Praise a "bad" movie

georgec said:

Jingle All the Way is a genuinely enjoyable, hilarious movie.

I especially liked Jake Lloyd in that film.  At that time, he obviously had a great acting career ahead of him.

Haven't seen TheBoost for a long time, so there's no one to punish me for my sarcasm.  Sweet! *fistpump*

And for the record, I do find Jingle All the Way to be pretty funny in spite of its silly jokes.

Yes, I like Spielberg, but I chose those films based on a general consensus and not my own personal opinion.  I don't watch R-rated films, which all three of these happen to be (though I've seen Ryan edited).

Actually, I don't mind a derailment.  I clearly had another purpose to starting this thread than to actually bash George.

This thread has been a great place for ideas.  Now that the second vote is underway and the new forum is up, I think we're going to begin relying on the other forum more.  I really hope things pick up there soon, and that this forum can largely serve for updates.  I will probably quickly hold the third vote once this one is done, and will put up the items that get a revote, plus any new ideas.  I really need to step back and not be so involved (I know, you've all heard that before).  So I really want to get to the point where the editors know exactly what to do to please the majority and we leave the rest in their very capable hands.

Quick, before it gets locked, say something nasty here.  That way we can actually talk about something other than how awful everything George has ever done is in the other threads.

If you are:

An armchair psychologist, aware of every motive for George's movie choices

A diehard fan of only the OOOOOOOOT

A griper

An anti-profit lefty

A should-be, would-be, could-be, or has-been professional movie critic

A clever typist who enjoys calling George Luca$ or Lucass or Mr. Hair or The Man with the Beard or Flannel Guy

An unfortunate victim of George raping your childhood, tormenting your memory, or destroying your youthful dreams one release at a time

A person who wants to criticize George's personal life with statements like, "No wonder Marcia left you," or, "Geez, all that lounging around Skywalker Ranch has put several pounds on your neck."

A person who forgot that George made one or two or three good movies that you once fell in love with

Then you're in luck!  This is the thread for you.

Look, I get it.  This is originaltrilogy.com.  The prequels aren't exactly Saving Private Ryan, The Godfather, and Schindler's List.  The SE changes are out of place and detract from the original charm in many cases.  George should indeed please his real fans by releasing the OUT.  But this General Star Wars Discussion forum seems to have no end to the crap people say about him.  I love how matter-of-factly I've read "Oh, the reason such-and-such sucks is because of Fat George."  "This will definitely suck because George is involved."  "George only cares about money, so Marcia left, 9/11 happened, the economy tanked, and the termite population is up."  I mean, it's pretty ridiculous.  Everyone here thinks they are psychoanalysts who know everything about this man.  I've heard all the legitimate complaints, and now it seems people either feel it's necessary to repeat them to their dying breaths or develop new criticisms that are without merit or necessity.  That's my rant, and I'm sticking to it.
