It really bugs me when a film shows a band playing, but the sounds your hear are from different instruments. I know these aren't real instruments, but when it shows the two SE characters blowing horn-like instruments (0.23) with no sound to match it just makes it look silly. ...Then again, the bad cgi, rubber masks and horrible disco tune are already so silly that I guess you'd might as well go the whole 9 yards. Can't we just cut this out altogether?

(EDIT: this is concerning Jaitea's vid. Didn't download Ronsters)

I have to agree in general, though I haven't yet watched either vid.  I'll give them both a look and see if it works for me.  However, we did vote overall to remove most of that scene anyway, though things can still change.  I personally want it gone.

You can still worry about him if his got a decent amount of training and Yoda doesn't die with his job barely begun.

Yoda has lied to him, Ben has lied to him, they have both manipulated him but Ben more so (he wants him to kill his dad, the dad that offered him a half share of the galaxy).

You are bound to wonder if Luke isn't taking everything Ben now says with a pinch of space salt, Vader killed him for crying out loud, he could be pushing all that 'kill your dad' stuff just to get his own back.

And what about Leia?

Ben is a Jedi, he's been around horny teens, he must have known what Luke was thinking when he saw that hologram and he kept her identity to himself to the last minute.

If I was Luke I'd kick Ben's ghostly arse for that.

Is Part 3 of Anything Ever Good?

I wasn't sure how to look it up either, so I did a copy & paste on twooffour's words "creepy kid at locomotive" and put "Back to the Future 3" in front of it on a google search. Turns out he is well known as "creepy kid at the end of Back to the Future III". You can find youtube videos of the scene, but basically while Doc is talking to Jennifer and Marty you can see Doc's son Verne in the background motion with his hand then point to his crotch.

So in part 3 of the Oliver Twist saga...okay, this is totally off-topic so I won't even pretend.  I just had to say that for a boy getting in trouble, Oliver does something weird with his tonue in literally the last couple seconds of this song.  Noticed it years ago and forgot about it till reading this thread.  Much more visible on the TV, but always made me laugh once I noticed it.  I just had to put that out there.

Well, here's my thought, and hopefully it's easier than what you're trying to do:

As the troopers first run in, we simply see a couple shots in their direction and one maybe hits the wall next to them, sending up a big cloud of smoke, then we cut to the next scene.  Seems pretty straightforward to me, no need to make it too complicated.

As for the battling afterwards, the idea is that the troops are now scattered and fleeing, and in their disorganized state the Ewoks take them out.  Perhaps if we saw troopers in armor running away more (maybe we can find footage, but more likely we'd have to film it), it might get the idea across better, but that's why the battle continues.  Perhaps it doesn't work, but it seems like a good idea to me.  But hey, I'd rather have a good movie than be right, so if I'm the only one, please let me know, guys.  I'd been hoping to get more feedback on the idea.

Aalenfae's PREQUEL TRILOGY (Heavily delayed - computer exploded)
Time

Well, I guess I imagined Vader personally killing or at least leading the charge on most of them.  And considering that many would hide out and require a powerful Force user to find them and personally kill them, I always imagined it taking years.  And while 8 months could be enough in a compressed extermination, by the end of the movie as it now stands we don't have 8 months, we don't even have 1.  I guess the only solution is for aalenfae to shrink her belly and allow the movie to appear to take place in a much shorter time frame.  We can then assume Anakin hunts them while Padme has the kids.  Thinking about it, he'd have to completely cut her from Mustafar it seems.  I think she'd have to flee after Obi-wan tells her what Anakin's done, and she'd have to believe him.

I know this is aalenfae's movie, so I feel kind of bad carrying on like this, but it's an interesting idea.  Perhaps we should move this to the radical redux thread.  I feel like I would need to think more on how to make it fit, but I don't want to use up his thread too much on this...unless he really thinks this is a fantastic idea of course ;)

You can tell Christmas is over can't you?

All those bottles of aftershave, all those ill fitting sweaters, character underpants etc.

So as a non-interested party why post in this thread at all?

I'm sure you could have started a critique of Adywan 'fans' and the ethos of his projects in the Off-Topic section (where your personal attacks will not necessarily get you an immediate ban...doh!).

This thread is for assisting what is already happening (wether you like it or not).

Your comments add nothing to this project which you don't approve of.

You don't have to approve with it but wafting in like a phantom and posting about that here isn't functional use of this space.

I know Christmass is over, don't seem to find the relevance though...

I am an interested "party" and I'm pretty sure that you can tell by the message I'm sending here. If I wasn't iwb subscribing and all. You gave me an interesting idea though and thank you for that. ;)

Anyhow, I'm assisting by critisising in the most possibly raw form. A "what not to do" point of view, or a "what bothers me is this", is an assistance as well. Do not try to blame it on me because you don't like the way I give my advice. Be the greater man and keep the present and not the wrapping if you find it unpleasant.

Doesn't matter if I approve it or not, won't make a difference, but I think that it adds up to something by itself already. But if you like to talk about speciffics like lets say visual integrity I' d be glad to remind you Mike Vertas thoughts on this and the previous project, that was critisised way more brutally than me. Well I agree with him because he knows damn well and better than most "great" people here about technicalities.

Sorry to have interupted your thoughts but I want to speak about what I want to speak and not about something boring.

If you've got suggestions for improvement, I for one would be interested in hearing them.  But please be specific.  Saying that it just plain sucks is not exactly constructive criticism.

No.  That's not true!  That's impossible!

I suppose we should search our feelings, we know it to be true.

Actually, while many people do little on this thread other than compliment Adywan, I've seen a great deal of constructive criticism which he seems pretty open to generally.

Welcome to the forum, and by the way, it's spelled per se.  That's Latin.

George's Armchair Pyschologists Thread (was: The NEW and IMPROVED George bashing thread!!!)

I hope I didn't offend anyone with my last post.  I do think the GL bashing sometimes gets really out of hand, and in spite of his many flaws I think there is much good to be said about the guy.  If nothing else, he pursues no legal action against the folks of this site, something he could truly do and win if he wanted to.  But as I poked fun at a few people by name, I just want to make sure that everyone is aware that I hold no hard feelings towards them or anyone else.

Is there any way to hook this thread up to something like a Twitter-like feed?  That way we can hook up to a few guys like walking_carpet, skyjedi, generalfrievous, and I'm sure there are others.  If they comment anywhere on this forum about anything, it should automatically be linked to this thread.  No one can tell us exactly what Lucas is thinking with such clarity as well as they can.

Heck, let me give it a go.  George Lucas went to the grocery store to buy bubble gum.  This is of course a racist thing, as there was a closer Quick-E Mart where the gum was sold for 4 cents cheaper, but it was run by a man from Sri Lanka.  George wants to withhold his funds from minorities after all, especially since the OT is the primary version of Star Wars folks have seen and fallen in love with there in Sri Lanka.  The man is a total nutjob, loser, racist, history revisionist, and evil the likes of the Pharaoh who massacred all those innocent little boys!  The little boy inside me has been fed to the crocodiles!!!  Them's the facts, and don't you dare disagree with me.

Oops, my question was a little confusing.  I'm referring to the Ewoks cartoon which was transferred from VHS by Pittrek.  I guess it goes without saying that since it's a cartoon, the discrepancy in quality wouldn't be as noticeable anyway.

The VHS I myself was wondering might be usable is from the Star Wars Interactive Video Board Game: Assault on the Death Star, which by the way is a ridiculously long name.  I contacted someone via boardgamegeek.com who said he'd send me a torrent and seed it for me.  But the original source is a VHS.  Even if this version isn't that high quality, it would be nice to see if there is anything on there worth grabbing for our edit, either video or audio.  From what I read, they filmed new Prouse footage and recorded new Jones lines.

The audio would be nice, but if there's even just a couple seconds of Vader walking down a Death Star hall (as it appears to have in the picture), I know it would help solve a problem I've considered with my script.  Of course that depends on if Vader walking down the hall can be upscaled and cropped, which it sounds like is not doable.

EDIT: I guess in order to preserve what quality remains in captured VHS footage, a shot as simple as a corridor could probably be widened with CGI.  So the question would just be upscaling.

Yeah, I just listened to Vader on YouTube for The Force Unleashed, and while he does a good job, he still sounds too obviously off base to me.  Hopefully this guy who I got in touch with sends me a torrent soon.  I can't wait to watch the game movie.  There's gotta be something good in there!

How usable can VHS be?  I'm impressed with the quality of the recent Ewok preservations from Pittrek.  If we get a good transfer, can it be cropped and enhanced to get the right aspect ratio and achieve a usable quality for the rest of our movie?

Well, that makes sense.  But then Padme could never be too pregnant throughout the movie till the end.  Even 9 months isn't very long to kill all the Jedi masters yourself, and she's pregnant when she meets him on Mustafar.  Making the babies come sooner would not only mean shrinking her tummy, but also explaining a number of plot difficulties, such as why she'd fear have the babies without him knowing, why Obi-wan is present, etc.  So I guess a storyline like you indicate would mean aalenfae would need to shrink her belly for much of the movie.

While detracting from the Ben/Ani climax, it still seems easier and more justifiable to include at least something in the end (I would imagine a several year project hunting down the Jedi).  Perhaps Order 66 would remain where it is now, albeit given by Anakin instead of Palpatine, and of course a tad shorter.  Then have armored Anakin/Vader continue killing off more Jedi afterwards.  This way many of the Jedi wouldn't even know who their assassin really was anyway, maintaining the galactic mystery of, "Who the heck is Palpatine's new henchman?"
