Since when did ROTJ become less highly regarded than even Episodes II or III?
Time

ROTJ, in spite of its flaws, really appeals to me as well. Of all the films, it has long been the most fun in my mind. Now, with a more analytical understanding of life, ESB has really grown on me, while it used to be my least favorite. I think ROTJ has more weak moments, but it also has the strongest IMO. I honestly get a bit choked up watching a silent (key word) Vader looking back at forth between his son and his master, deciding whose side he's on. It's very powerful to me and ties everything together nicely. I have my own ideas for changes, and I really am excited to see a Revisited version, but nevertheless, I think it's a great film.

HUAC - House of Unapproved Activities Committee a.k.a. The OT.com BLACKLIST Thread!
Time

In post-WWII a number of Hollywood stars were blacklisted for allegedly participating in "un-American" activities, meaning someone pointed the finger at them accusing them of communist leanings and/or sympathies. While today these people would actually be glorified, back then they were completely cast out of Hollywood circles!

Well, I'm resurrecting that old, wonderful idea. This thread is devoted to baseless accusations against your fellow OT.com members for violating OT.com rules. The less evidence you have, the better! Now go get 'em!

Padawan Menace is great fun and really, really funny.  My son became sensitive over the films for a while and asked for his Darth Vader poster to be taken down and returned the Star Wars DVDs that he inherited from me when I got the Blu-rays.  For films that are aimed at a younger age group, there's an awful lot of darkness there, too - but then, we read children Hansel And Gretel and expect them to have a good night's sleep - and Anakin's journey is hardly a barrel of laughs (at least my age group got a happy ending with the Star Wars films we grew up with).

Anyway, a big deal wasn't made of him not wanting to watch Star Wars anymore and, consequently, he's back into it again.

Actually, my kids are pretty sensitive to such stuff as well.  How old is your son?

I must say, as a an English nerd myself, I'm impressed by your vocabulary in an Internet forum.  Are you British?  They always seem so proper ;)

Take the twooffour Pledge (Pledge is Suspended - See Post #121) (At one time thread was about DOGS WEARING HATS)

Biggest discrepancy is his mention of a son old enough to watch Star Wars.  Could either be a cover or he could be a father (though I don't recall him ever mentioning mentioning any children of his own), but earlier in the thread he makes it sound like he lives with his adolescent brother.  If he gave his correct age when describing an anecdote, he's approximately 24 years old today, give or take.

His posts are shorter too.  I dunno.  We may have to try to agitate him to get him to admit to something.  I'll see what I can drum up ;)

Are twooffour and Easterhay the same?  Do you think they both fit the bill for Paranoid Personality Disorder?

Wikipedia says:

The World Health Organization's ICD-10 lists paranoid personality disorder as (F60.0) Paranoid personality disorder.[5]

It is characterized by at least three of the following:
  1. excessive sensitivity to setbacks and rebuffs;
  2. tendency to bear grudges persistently, i.e. refusal to forgive insults and injuries or slights;
  3. suspiciousness and a pervasive tendency to distort experience by misconstruing the neutral or friendly actions of others as hostile or contemptuous;
  4. a combative and tenacious sense of personal rights out of keeping with the actual situation;
  5. recurrent suspicions, without justification, regarding sexual fidelity of spouse or sexual partner;
  6. tendency to experience excessive self-importance, manifest in a persistent self-referential attitude;
  7. preoccupation with unsubstantiated "conspiratorial" explanations of events both immediate to the patient and in the world at large.

He seems to fit the diagnosis to me.  It'd be fun to play psychologist and find examples of how he meets the underlined/bolded criteria! ;)

I don't miss twoquarters, he's still active, just wearing a new hood, probably.

You really think it is he?  A part of me is excited because I've almost missed the little jerk.  But this new hood actually predates his old account.  This "new account" would actually have to be his original.

I didn't know who you were talking about at first, but after finding the suspected posts, it really does sound a lot like him.  If it is, I hope we get a few good laughs and then he ends up banned once again.  Only time will tell!

I have to say that I really like coming here.  Here I associate with people of various races, faiths, nationalities, political affiliations, and sexual orientations (and even one or two females!).  While I may disagree with some of you sometimes, there have been very few here I do not like or cannot get along with.  I think a certain three consecutive letters and a certain unreduced fraction are the only two who have truly earned my ire.

Let's all say something nice about George Lucas. No insults allowed.

I think one can easily take all these things far too seriously.  Can idiots and bad guys only be white?  There's a difference between a character that's just silly and one that's clearly intended to portray a whole people as such.  I don't believe Jar Jar was such a character.  Remember that movie that came out a year before TPM?  It was very popular, Disney, and had an idiotic racial character named Mushu.  That's right, I'm talking about Mulan, with Eddie Murphie's dragon calling a horse a cow and being a horrible klutz that nearly ruins everything by destroying the Stone Dragon among other things.  Everyone laughed.  No one called this film with it's poor portrayal of ancient Chinese culture racist.  No one complained that all the Huns were an evil and heartless people who murdered without second thought.  Why?

People to me are fascinating, both as individuals and groups. As most who care a lick about me know, I'm a psychology major, and I've got a thing for sociology as well, so it may come as no surprise. I believe that humans are inherently good but extremely flawed. I really like to get to know them. I love learning about cultures and religions. I love learning about individuals and what makes them tick. People are amazing, and the more we understood each other, the better we'd get along I'm sure.
