Deleted, altered, and alternate material project (Released)
Time

All right, I think I'm done collecting pictures, at least for the OT section. The PT still has lots of work to go, but I think I'm probably just going to use mostly pre-existing collections. Can I just tell everyone what a pain it is to make sure I have the highest resolution of the picture selected, then right-click, save as, etc., for hundreds and hundreds of pictures? Then organizing them chronologically and making sure I have the best quality version available...and my project is much simpler than most everyone else's. I don't know how you crazies do it!

Anyway, I wanted to request a little help. I'm looking for brief clips as well. Pittrek sent me a bunch from the original trailers which are quite useful. However, I know in Deleted Magic, Star Wars Begins, Building Empire, and Returning to Jedi, there are little clips of slightly extended footage. Now I have these and might be able to take care of these on my own, though I'm really not using my time well as it is right now. But also I understand that in the Blu-ray documentaries are brief clips such as Padme (I thought it was Shmi, but source says Padme) puts 3PO's face on, or supposedly Luke says:

"Weeho, steady girl! What's the matter... you smell something? There's nothing out there. I'll check again..."

...just prior to getting mauled by a Wampa. I can't get these sorts of things on my own, as I don't have a BD player for my computer. I really would appreciate anyone just sending me even brief clips like this so I can include it on my set here. PM me to let me know please.

The Unofficial Complete REVISITED SAGA Ideas and Random Discussion Thread

I'm not even going to mention this in the ESB:R thread because I am pretty confident it won't happen. However, I'd love to see Hobbie take out Veers' AT-AT. It would require colorizing some b&w footage and re-editing, as well as perhaps creating some new footage, but I think it would be nice to spite the Empire a bit as the Rebels lose the battle.

The Unofficial Complete REVISITED SAGA Ideas and Random Discussion Thread

I have been in discussion with daneditor. I had some ideas to expand upon Boba Fett using fan film footage. When I told him about them, he took the ideas and has been running with it, and I've been providing input on his work. While obviously there are some shortcomings in the quality of the fan films themselves, I'm convinced that Boba Fett could have a more prominent and climactic role in ROTJ, and I think that daneditor's work could serve as a blueprint for someone like Adywan with the resources and patience to add newly filmed footage and special effects. Our idea doesn't involve any selling the plans to the Rebels, I'm afraid (though I've always thought of it as an interesting idea), but it does in fact have a showdown between Fett and a hero or two. Don't want to spoil too much, but I look forward to when daneditor unveils his work to everyone.

Since when did ROTJ become less highly regarded than even Episodes II or III?

While I certainly like Empire most of all, I would also love to see an alternate version of the universe where Vader is just Vader. And I totally agree about the shrinking universe thing... I would never have made Luke and Leia siblings; Vader being Luke's father was crazy and gut-wrenching and added whole new levels and elements and purpose to Luke's story, but Leia being Luke's sister is just kinda... meh. Seen it. And it definitely shrinks the galaxy way too much.

At the same time, though, I've come to love Star Wars so much for what it is that it's hard to think of such a major plot point not existing.

I think it would be cool to see an alternate universe as well. The idea of the original cast in Splinter of the Mind's Eye really fascinates me. Star Wars would really feel like a serial then. Luke and Leia were pretty affectionate. Vader was nothing but evil--no redeeming qualities. It's an interesting story because its writing predates many of the ideas we've come to know about Star Wars (Vader as Luke's old man, Vader's anatomy [he loses an arm, but is relatively unfazed--is he just a robot???], Leia as Luke's sis, Luke's novice Force abilities, the magical nature of the Force in the Kaiburr crystal [vs. ESB where it's more spiritual and TPM where it's more biological], Han settling down). It's an interesting story that doesn't mesh too well with our present universe, yet was the original sequel if Star Wars was a flop. I'd love to see that early fork in the road that has since been sort of retconned to line up with the rest.

1990osu, I just knew you were a troll!

j/k

I actually really like the man too and wish that people were kinder to him. I feel like he's a good guy who's done good things and gets a bad rap for his stubborn mistakes. I really don't enjoy reading everyone's psychoanalyses of him, as if they were qualified to determine all his motives from a distance based on some things he said in a few interviews. There is still good in him, I can feel it.

I hope you all put out your shoes last night. I wish I'd reminded you. Today is St. Nicholas Day. In the Netherlands, the gift giving would actually take place last night, but in Belgium and most other countries that celebrate St. Nicholas, this morning is the special day. St. Nicholas left chocolates, candies, and other little things in people's shoes this morning. Maybe you got something ;)

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

A rather simple suggestion: 3PO says, "There'll be no escape for the princess this time," in the original and purist editions, and Ady made the controversial change to simply, "There'll be no escape this time." Well, in the novel 3PO says something like, "There's no escape for the Captain this time," and seems throughout the movie to be completely ignorant as to Leia's presence and role on the ship. He's never shown any skill at being a liar, and the film gives every indication that he really didn't know what was going on. I wonder if a future release could simply say, "There'll be no escape for the captain [or 'Captain Antilles'] this time." It seems logical and consistent with both the way the film unfolds and the way the novel reads.

Finding lots more good stuff and have gotten comparison clips for the changes in Episodes I and II. Like I said, I won't bother much with the comparison clips for the other four films, as I'd rather just describe them with pictures and provide the actual videos. While I'd been to a couple of those sites SilverWook had recommended, I'm surprised how I'd missed a few of them as well, and I've found plenty more good stuff. So I'm making progress towards getting this very comprehensive project together :)
