He released his official edit, but he's also been working on an experimental edit off and on that he gives folks access to if they ask.  He feels it's not complete enough to make an official release at this point, and he's waiting for folks to improve the quality of the deleted scenes and perhaps a couple of other fan films (Tydirium and THX) before making an official release of it.  The official edit is based entirely upon ROTJ with no fan film footage.

Sorry.  Didn't mean to be too distracting.  Warbler, I think Bingo likes you.  I believe he just meant to make a point and used your comment to do so.  Truthfully, I prefer the written out 'Rest in Peace' over RIP as well.  I probably shouldn't have said anything.

Anyway, Roger Ebert--what a guy!  I admire his determination to keep going until the end.  And I too am grateful he defended ROTJ (Sorry Bing).

Rebooting the Prequel Trilogy

Frankly I don't think I would have made Anakin a slave at all.  I'd probably have cut closer to the cloth that Obi-wan weaved in ANH.  I believe I'd likely have Obi-wan serve as the main character who simply stumbles upon an incredibly talented pilot, who perhaps had special but latent gifts with the Force that aided his abilities.  Obi-wan would recognize his gifts and take him under his wing, where Anakin would then blossom.  No Tatooine, no slavery, no dying mother.  I'm okay with the hidden love, but the romance would need to be far more believable and interesting.  Anakin should be far more charismatic.  In the novelization of Ep. III, he's actually quite well known throughout the Republic, and I think his apparent death should have been a huge morale killer for the Republic.

Daneditor keeps Fett in Jabba's palace at the onset, but then has him leave (in a very similar shot to what you and Davnes did in that little sample video you guys made).  There is no Fett in the sail barge battle.  He goes to the Death Star and meets with Vader, who instructs him to help find Luke, but not harm him.  He is given a free hand with Solo.  When Luke and the team arrive at Endor, Fett is dispatched to the surface where he begins to track them.  He observes Luke leaving with Vader in the shuttle, but continues his manhunt for Han.  During the land battle, he blows up some Ewoks with a thermal detonator, finds a dying stormtrooper and finishes him off, but waits until the main part of the battle is over, and then he is the one who shoots Leia in the arm.  He prepares to kill both Han and Leia, but Leia shoots him and he falls to the ground.  The wound is not lethal and he again rises and prepares to kill them, when Chewie in the AT-ST arrives and kills him for good.  I may be misremembering parts because he and I discussed different means of accomplishing the goal and he sent me several samples where I provided my opinion.  For instance, Fett's orders may have come after he arrived on the surface via a holographic discussion with Vader instead of on the Death Star (I can't remember, and I'm not at my computer right now).  I might have done a couple of things differently, but overall I thought it was cool how it turned out.  Dan did a pretty good job.

Considering all the footage came from various fanedits, it made me realize that if footage were filmed specifically for an ROTJ edit, there would be even more possibilities in how one deals with Fett.

Why lay in to Warbler and not captainsolo or twister111 who both invoked the same phrase?  I guess because Warbler also thanked ol' Roger for the defense of ROTJ (which I love).  It has a history to it.

No need to jump all over him.

M.N.O.D.H.C.T.T.R.A.M.H.S.B.P.O.U.T.T. (May no one disturb his corpse till the resurrection, and may his spirit be pleasantly occupied until that time).  I dunno, it just isn't as catchy and wouldn't fit so well on gravestones. ;)

Bingo, did you see how daneditor (with some suggestion from me) handled Fett?  He still dies, but I think it's more interesting.  It's obviously not perfect, but dan is limited by the fanedits he has access to, and I still think he did a pretty darn good job.  It doesn't display the character growth you describe (which quite frankly is very interesting and would have been cool to see), but it does at least give Fett a less comical ending.

A New direction for Lucasfilm Animation

Potentially some light at the end of our tunnel?

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/04/05/the-clone-wars-dave-filoni-developing-the-next-star-wars-animated-series?abthid=515e26868da4b8024d000024

I hope this means it will build off of TCW.  I know it will take place at some untouched timeframe, but what does that mean?  The only virgin Star Wars times are what, at least 150 years post ROTJ?  I can't imagine they're going that far out.  More likely in my mind is that it will take place between Eps. 3 an 4.  But who knows.  In any case, with Filoni at the helm, perhaps there will be some closure to the series.

Maybe someone reported it?

So even if we put a password to protect it, it could still be reported.  For all we know, someone from Lucasfilm is on this site...well probably not.  But I have some conspiracy theories on who it could be.  ;)

You know, I had my suspicions, but now you've confirmed it for me: skyjedi2005 and hoth-nudist are undercover LFL agents!  Get the tar and feathers!
