Unofficial Revisited Retro-redux Ideas Thread

Here's a retro-redux idea.

Making Grievous (and perhaps many CGI droids) look like stop-motion puppets!

That's a really cool idea!  I wouldn't mind if it were implemented throughout the whole trilogy, though giving it a slight motion blur would help it to look like the high quality go motion of the OT.  But seriously, that's really fun and could visually better tie the two trilogies together.

Permission to speak candidly?
Time

I like ROTJ, in some ways better than ANH and ESB, though I admit it has its flaws, and I admit that the other two are quite wonderful.

I like the PT, though it is weaker in every aspect than the OT in my humble opinion.

When I go to the Jedi Council Forums, I cannot criticize the PT at all without getting hanged by a few PT Jihadists.

When I come here, I cannot defend the PT or ROTJ without getting hanged a few OT Crusaders.

To say that calling Qui-Gon Jinn the best PT character is like saying syphilis is the best STD is stupid.

To ask why anyone would download the Japanese laserdisc rip of TPM is stupid.

To make a list of 50 reasons why ROTJ sucks while saying ESB is a perfect film is stupid (and clearly uses DOUBLE STANDARDS when judging both films).

I like certain films. My opinion is valid.

You don't like them. Your opinion is valid.

But stating something as utter fact and providing hyperbole rather than reason to back that up is...you guessed it...stupid.

I like everyone here, so no one get offended. I even join in the PT bashing often. But don't be stupid.

My appreciation goes to Bingowings, for without his posting format (patent pending) this post would not have been as much fun to create.

The Female Speculation Thread
Time

Females visiting these parts are about as rare as a white buffalo. But from time to time we see them. There are actually those whom I suspect are female, but I am uncertain. Therefore I won't name anyone just because I don't know. But who are the women (not bots with sexy women pictures) who come to originaltrilogy.com? And why don't we see more of them?

Disney Acquires LucasFilm for $4.05 billion, Episode 7 in 2015, 8 and 9 to Follow, New Film Every 2-3 Years

Somewhere in this documentary (too lazy to link to the exact moment), Kershner describes ESB as a fairy tale and admits that there are a number of scientifically inaccurate elements.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aS-HIgvANE"

I've pointed out many of these elements in my Armchair Movie Critic thread in the Off Topic section, but my criticisms were tongue in cheek. All three movies could be torn to bits if someone just felt like whining. But the point is that they are all fairy tales, and folks who criticize ROTJ for certain flaws should use the same standards for ANH and ESB.

ROTJ is a good movie in my mind. I don't mind others disagreeing, and I see flaws with it as well, but I still love it. Opinions can differ from person to person, and we are not all idiots simply because we don't all think alike. I get really tired of people who tell me I'm stupid for enjoying ROTJ, or even for enjoying the PT.

Deleted, altered, and alternate material project (Released)
Time

Well, this project slowly plods along.  I have over 3,000 pictures just in my ANH folder!  That's not to say that they are all unique, as I know there are several duplicates.  Some are different scans of varying quality, some have higher PSI, and some are cropped to include more.  I want to select the best pictures, so I am organizing them on Windows Live Movie Maker and then will be pruning so the best remain.  In a few cases, I may include duplicates of largely identical pictures, simply because each might have an advantage over the other (i.e. one was cropped to include more, but the other is larger and more detailed).  This is a very time consuming process.  Further difficulty comes from the fact that I have to make sure I don't include pictures that are actually in the film.  Usually I can remember very well, but I'd hate to delete a shot that is not actually in the movie.  So after I get it all organized, I will have to watch the film side by side with my slideshow and remove pictures that are just screencaps of the actual film.  But again, progress continues, even if anyone who cares thought otherwise.

What has Lando got to be forgiven for again?

He borrowed Han's clothes and probably didn't wash them. ;)

As Leia is wearing her old outfit at the end of Empire, I sure hope it's been washed since that little side trip to the trash compactor! ;)

I was joking. I know he didn't actually take Han's clothes - they're standard fare for Corellians.

I think every time I try to make a joke results in being corrected with a literal response.

Um, correction: you are not corrected every time with a literal response.  This is clearly an exaggeration, don't you think?

Do you think this fan film is worth donating towards?
Time

Please make sure you keep us updated on this project.  What you are doing is quite ambitious, and I don't see you doing it alone.  How much help do you already have?  I've always been an advocate for collaborative projects, and I suggest you gather a crew behind you if you want to make it a reality.  As you said, if you can get even a relatively small amount of quality work done and impress some folks, you'll get more support.  Again, I wish you the best of luck.

It's the establishing shot of GTF occupied Naboo after the heroes begin their return from Coruscant.  ~1:35:00.  It's a few shots after Jar-Jar says: "Weesa going home!"  The shot after the CGI modified bridge is Sidious (hologram) talking to Gunray.

pics of the shot in this post:

Looks like Adywan missed that one in his theatrical reconstruction (the bridge is there). Also, this change is not mentioned in this dvdactive article.

Yep.  My Deleted, Altered, and Alternate project relied on Adywan's reconstruction for all shots except that one, where before I had to rely on my widescreen VHS.  Now I can use the Japanese Laserdisc, with much prettier results :)
