Idea: my first steps into a larger world
Time

I once was trying to find material that would be useful, but I literally threw away the list yesterday because I never thought it would be that handy.  Probably it wasn't that beneficial anyway because it was introductory material from Clone Wars movie mostly.  I have some ideas I could share, but I'm in a hurry.  I can try to offer them later, if you like.  Glad you're interested :)

BionicBob from FE.org included these links.  Apparently some fans made a high quality fanedit of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, updating the special effects and including the deleted rock monster scene.  Unfortunately they tried to go the fully legitimate route and sent it to CBS, which means it will probably be locked up with a cease and desist letter in return, but I hope I will get to see a more attractive TFF.  In my mind, it's actually a movie with a lot of good potential, and it saddens me that it has such a negative reputation.  The interaction between the main trio is wonderful in this film, IMO.

By the way, I finally finished Enterprise, the novel detailing Kirk's first time on the job as captain of the Enterprise, taking over for Pike.  There were a number of interesting elements of character development, but honestly, most of the book was just that with little else.  When the actually conflict materialized, it was rather light in feeling, which is fine considering it feels very much like a TOS episode, but the thing is that the whole book is long and slow.  It would be like watching a four part episode with part 3 dealing with the plot and the rest simply dealing with Kirk's insecurity in his new position and other humorous flotsam.  I enjoyed it, but it should have either been much shorter or dealt with a much more interesting threat.

JEDIT: Having just sampled a YouTube video, I now see that it's still not up to today's SFX standards, but is still a fine example of how the movie can be improved with modern work.  I do enjoy what I see, and would love to see the whole thing.

Info: Behind the scenes footage I've never seen
Time

Well, I finally tried something new with FVD Video Downloader, an extension for Chrome.  I was able to download an swf file, but I don't have the software to play or convert it.  Any suggestions?  I could upload it for y'all.  Thanks to those who are trying :)

JEDIT: I doubt my method worked, since the resulting file is only 224 kb in size.  So I'm stumped now too :(  Might just have to rely on Darth Solo's lower quality capture.  Again, thanks for your efforts.

Laugh at FE.org Mod Frink
Time

Lukeburrage is unnecessarily harsh in his comments re: secior's HD edit.

Seciors takes offense (as I would as well), and Frink backs him up.

Lukeburrage justifies his comments, and seciors responds by pointing out that "one of the most highly respected members of [the FE.org] community" agrees that his jokes are not clear and come off rude.

Surely he couldn't have been talking about TV's Frink, could he? ;)

Not sure if you’re just being humorous using the Jeopardy format or if you in reality don’t know who he is.  If you don’t, he is the longest winning champion in Jeopardy and second biggest prize winner.  Some other champ defeated him in a Jeopardy special where champs face each other and won a big prize which made him the bigger winner overall in spite of the shorter streak.  My understanding is that the other guy quit while he was ahead, while Jennings kept coming back till he was first defeated.  Interestingly, he’s one of our relatively few Democrats.  But he’s pretty darn smart in spite of that lapse in judgment 😉  I’ll update the OP.

By the way, I hope my comment about Johnny and Pufnstuf wasn’t taken as rude.  I really couldn’t figure out the show (from my research, that doesn’t look like the real H. R. Pufnstuf), and there is no character or actor on the show named Johnny

Words that require a prefix or suffix
Time

Its usually some fun etymology behind it.A DISaster can happen, but never just an aster.

Aster-astro-stars.

DisASTER means bad stars, or basically that fate aligned to cause a catastrophe.

Hey, that's an interesting one and never occurred to me.  I'm sure a bunch of words we take for granted because of their commonality fall into a similar categories...words like destroy.  Now just by looking at it I can't see it, but its relative destruct is the process of breaking something: de- meaning undoing, -struct having to do with something's structure.  You can also construct something, but once it's complete, it never is simply struct.  Never even thought of that till just now.  Wonder how many there are like that! :)

Words that require a prefix or suffix
Time

I've been fascinated with the strange occurrence in our language where we have words that could only exist along with a prefix or suffix.  I've often though about how humorous they are in the moment, but I've never made a list and often forget that I ran into them.  I should get around to making a list, and I could use your help.  Here are a couple that spring to mind immediately:

nonchalant - would "chalant" be acting in an overbearingly obvious manner?

overwhelmed/underwhelmed - you can never be just "whelmed", except maybe in Europe
